The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 540: The Announcement

(From Luc's Perspective)

"I am just really tired. Only for the sake of Dion, I am joining," I grumbled. Joining social events was not easy for me. I felt like my energy was being squeezed out of me every time I was among a lot of people.

"I am not that social either. I understand you," Ruby said, patting my arm comfortingly.

We took our seats, which were only for the master and the mistress of the magic tower, on the right side of the thrones.

"That King Ford is here too," I said as my eyes found the man with brown hair. He came here as Evan, as always.

"Her Highness must have invited him. I knew she would. She values him greatly," Ruby said. "He is getting married."

"Yeah, I heard so. He announced it a few days ago," I said. "He is marrying the youngest daughter of the Duke of Trouvaille. A Lady Liliana or something."

"Lady Liliana Vance," she said. "A pretty lady, I heard. I went to the duchy yesterday and the duchess gave me long details on this matter. Lady Liliana is twenty-two, is not really social, and is quite pretty, if not strikingly beautiful."

"He made a good connection," I said.

"He did. I think it is only because she is the duke's daughter that he is going to marry her. I heard she was seen going in and out of the Imperial Palace for a few days. Knowing King Ford, I suppose he was trying to make a deal with her."

"You are not wrong."

"The duchess thinks she kind of looks like Her Highness, but I think there are a lot of differences. Only their facial shape is the same and their eyes color slightly. She might have looked like Her Highness, if Her Highness was the same person she had once been. Right now, Her Highness looks really confident and honestly, strikingly beautiful.

She can turn heads, let it be her posture or her facial expression. But that woman looks quite… simple. But yeah, she is pretty."

The change in Blue truly was a lot to take in. Sometimes it was like she was a completely different person. Yes, confident, she was confident, really confident. I had never seen Demetrius so afraid. He did not let it show much, but I had known him long enough to see through him.

He was afraid to lose her. He was afraid he was not enough. The Demetrius I knew never felt that way. But then again, Blue had the ability to bring something out of him that none of us knew existed.

One of her personal knights, Calix, had not been the same since the war. He still was uncomfortable around her. Blue herself said that to us and before that, Ruby told me about it. Well, not everyone was okay with changes like this.

Maybe only Perita could adapt to the new Blue without any problem. She was carefree. I was always surprised as to how someone could be that carefree.

"Drink, my lord?"

"Yes…"

"No, we are fine," Ruby said, cutting me off as she glared at me.

"What? A drink won't hurt," I said.

"You are not drinking. You lose your mind when you drink even just one glass," she said.

This was true for both Blue and me. We could not handle alcohol. And both of our spouses were good at handling alcohol. One more reason why my parents were right about adopting her.

"His Royal Highness, the King of Querencia, Her Royal Highness, the Queen of Querencia and His Royal Highness, the first prince of Querencia are entering!"

We stood up as Demetrius with Blue by his side and his son in his arms entered the throne room in all black and golden. Sparks of black ink flew in the air with each of their steps. It was Blue's doing for sure.

The crowd gasped. Most of the people here had never been to wars. They did not know what truly happened in the war. They only heard stories. Now, Blue was a matter of attraction for her power and Demetrius for his lost eye, and Dion for being the first prince and a half-human and dark mage and a half-werewolf with Alpha blood.

History would know their name greatly. They would live forever.

Would they never get lonely? Would they not feel sad seeing the friends they had die one day?

I found Ruby's hand and gave it a squeeze. Eternity sounded terrible. But at least, they had each other. And I was glad that I had someone in my life too, who I truly loved.

Blue found us with her eyes and gave us a nod, followed by a warm smile. She was followed by Perita who stood by her side as she and Demetrius took their seats.

"Dion is awake," Ruby muttered.

"Look at him looking around. He is so surprised," I said.

"He has never seen this many people," she said. "Oh gosh, he is so little. I literally want to squeeze him."

Demetrius was whispering something to Dion. I was not sure if he understood it, but he responded with a loud giggle.

A lot of 'aww's were heard from the crowd. I could understand them. Even I, who did not particularly like babies, could not help loving this child. He was the cutest baby I had ever seen. He basically looked like a living doll.

"Okay, but why is he so cute? Like, seriously?" Ruby muttered. She looked like she badly wanted to hold Dion.

Blue gave Demetrius a nod and he stood up. "Thank you all for coming to the banquet. Today, we introduce the first prince of Querencia and the loving son of the Queen and I, Prince Dion Easton. He was born on a day when we were attacked. It was also the day when the Queen, my dear wife bravely stood against them and won the war that could have resulted in something very much worse."

He looked at his wife who maybe was a little surprised, but did not show it much on her face.

"I thank you, my Queen, the love of my life, for being brave. I love you with all my heart and I thank you for bringing my son into this world and fighting when you could have just given up. You pushed yourself for the sake of this kingdom and our son."

Demetrius looked at the crowd once more. "Today, I would have declared my son as the heir. But both the Queen and I have decided not to force the position on him and wait. Now that his sibling is on the way, we are free to wait until they are old enough to decide for themselves and what they want."

"His sibling?" I almost blurted out loud.

The crowd was applauding. I was too shocked to do anything. I looked at Demetrius, who was glancing at Blue with a smug look who blushed, but did not look away.

This perverted bastard!

"Did you know?" I asked Ruby.

"No. I don't think anyone knew. Just look at Perita, King Ford, Calix."

All of them were shocked. Perita was asking Blue something very excitedly and was pointing at her stomach. Calix was shaking his head at the other knights who were probably asking him if he had known. King Ford simply was watching Blue with a shocked look on his face.

The banquet went on as usual. I still could not wrap my head around it. I needed to talk to Blue, or Demetrius as soon as possible. How could that bastard do it to her this soon?

"Are they crazy or something? This soon?"

"It's their decision, Luc," Ruby said.

"Blue literally gave birth only two months ago. How can someone's body be ready to carry another child this soon? What was Demetrius thinking? Can't he keep his dick in his pants for a while longer?"

"Luc! Gosh!"

"Besides, there is something called contraceptive."

"You should literally just mind your own business," Demetrius said. He came out of nowhere. Blue was standing beside him. She was again wearing a very scandalous dress. It looked like she had grown rather comfortable wearing dresses like these, when she used to complain about these before.

I took Dion from him. "Honestly, why would you even do that? Are you crazy?"

"Thank you, Luc, for the congratulations," Blue said.

"Do not mind him, Your Highness. He has gone crazy," Ruby said. "I congratulate both of you. When did you find out?"

"A few days ago," Blue said.

"Pregnancy is so weird. Like everyone knows what you did," I said.

"Luc!" Ruby slapped me on the elbow.

"It's actually true. I also feel so weird talking about this. I mean, announcing it publicly was just too much. But what can we do? We need to," Blue said. "And Dem was enjoying my embarrassment a little too much."

"What? What's to be embarrassed about?" Demetrius asked. There was still a smug on his face as he looked at her.

"You are so gross," I grumbled at him.
