The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 521: Husband Material

(From Demetrius's Perspective)

"Abel actually said it?" Luc exclaimed in shock after Ruby told him and Dem what happened at the picnic.

Dem did not look surprised at all and was unbothered. "I have always known," he said.

"And you said nothing?" Luc asked.

"Why would I worry about a literal kid?" Dem shrugged. "Kids have a crush on people. It comes and goes away. You had a crush too."

"Luc did?" Ruby asked. Now, it was something that piqued Ruby's interest.

"It was not even a crush," Luc said, eyeing Ruby. Luc might not be much of a jealous person, but Ruby could be. Just because she was not jealous when Luc spent time with me did not mean she was not a jealous person. She did not mind us because we were more like siblings. However, she always told me she wanted someone who paid the most attention to her.

"It was on the Marquis's childhood friend. On an old woman," Dem said with a mocking smirk on his face as he eyed Luc. Luc was glaring at him. "He once told me how much he wanted to kiss her cheeks."

"Cheeks? You must have been very innocent," I laughed.

"You were as immature as ever, Luc," Ruby said. But it was clear she would demand an explanation and more details later.

"How old was he?" I asked.

"Twelve," Luc replied. "I was a kid. It happens."

"I didn't fall for an older woman," Dem said.

"You were after a minor," Luc said.

"Oh, come on. I didn't even meet Blue that time, and besides, the thoughts in my head were not mine when I met her," he said. "I fell for her two days before her birthday. She was no minor."

"She was almost eighteen. I don't see the problem," Ruby said. In this world, women became adults when they were sixteen, and for boys, it was eighteen.

The food was served. I placed Dion on a small rocking chair where he slept on a soft cushion. I had one of them in my office too, and Dem had one in his study too. Sometimes I kept Dion with me, and sometimes, he took him with him to his study, and even to meetings. We did not let him be with others when we were not near.

When Dem or I took Dion to meetings, the curious eyes always seemed to pierce our way. They could not understand why not just a noble, but a Royal couple did not have a nanny to look after the prince and rather took care of him themselves, like commoners.

We just wanted to be loving parents and wanted to protect our son. It was the best way.

Dem picked out the peanuts from the fried rice for me as I hated peanuts in my food, but liked eating them raw. If they did not add the peanuts, the scent did not seem right. So, Dem took the job to take the peanuts from my plate and eat them.

"How is your body, by the way?" Luc asked. "The things you have been through… It's strange that you walk and move so comfortably."

"My body is healed," I said.

"Still weak though. Eat well," Dem said. He never missed the chance to let me know I was still weak and needed to eat more.

"Yes, eat more, Blue," Luc said. "We don't want you sick. You are still so slender. She is losing so much weight, no?"

"After giving birth, yes, women do lose weight. But Your Highness needs to eat more. Something is just not right," Ruby said. "Your face is very thin, Your Highness. You need to be healthy for all of us. Just try to eat a little more than usual."

"Maybe occasional snacks throughout the day will help," Luc said.

"I try to feed her occasionally this and that," Dem said. "Let's see how it works."

All of them were worried about me. It warmed my heart. At least, they were not expecting something from me and just wanted me to be healthy and okay. I thought their attitude would change as I was now not the Blue I had been. Part of me also thought Luc would hate me as I had made his best friend half-mortal, almost half-mortal. We still would age, until my mind was completely ready and mature enough.

But Luc did not hate me and still loved me as he did before.

"The fact that you will see me wrinkly while you will still look the same pisses me off. But, at least, I will be able to see what's beyond and you won't," Luc had laughed only when he found out.

Dem looked hurt. It was not that clear on his face, but I knew. I could feel it. His emotions were mine and mine were his. We were the same. Mates.

It was no easy thing. We could feel each other. When Dem made me his mate, it was not complete. I could not be his mate completely. I could never be his mate if I did not make him mine. He did not have the ability to make the daughter of a god his mate.

But I had the ability to make an Alpha my mate. It actually could not be called 'mate'. It was a bond. I just made him 'mine'.

He was now immune to my poison. So was Dion, as Dion literally had my blood in his veins. Dion was a werewolf, an Alpha, and a dark mage at the same time. He would be really powerful. The more powerful he was, the safer it would be for him to save himself. But until he learned how to use his power, it was up to us to save him.

"Another interesting thing happened today," I said, taking a sip of cold watermelon juice.

"What?" Dem asked.

"Our little Dion smiled for the first time today," I said. "Not just a smile, it was a laugh."

"What, really?" Luc exclaimed. "He really did?"

"He did! I was so surprised… It was the most beautiful thing I have seen in a while," I said.

"He will smile again if I tickle him, no?" Dem asked.

"You can't do it aggressively," Luc said. "He is too little."

"A little won't hurt, I think," Ruby said.

"I don't know. We will ask Doctor Dimitri. Actually, I don't think tickling is needed at all to make him laugh. We just have to entertain him," I said.

"There aren't any particular thing he likes," Dem said.

"He is little. He doesn't have that sense yet," Luc said.

"Yet, when he is hungry, he surely knows what to look for," Dem said and looked at Dion.

"He still cannot grab anything, but he twice reached for my chest while crying when he was hungry," I said with a laugh.

"He sure is smart as hell. Dion knows what he wants," Luc laughed.

"It's still weird. Sometimes I forget I literally have a child until he cries," Dem said.

"Did you forget him somewhere?" Ruby asked.

"No. But like, I would go to sleep and suddenly I would hear some noise at night. It would take me a good thirty seconds to realize I have a kid and he is hungry," Dem said and looked at me. I could see a small smile playing on his lips.

I flushed. He was thinking about that night when we made out in my workshop, completely forgetting we had a child, and that very child was in that room, sleeping. We did not realize this until Dion started crying.

"Nah, just leave him to us when you two plan to do anything indecent," Luc said. "It's weird and gross to have your child in the room when…"

"We don't do it that way," I said quickly.

"Your face sure says otherwise," Luc said.

"Come on. What are you talking about?" Ruby nudged him. "They understand better about what to do and what to not do."

"I think they are more like rabbits in heat. You know it too," Luc said. "I won't leave my precious nephew in their presence at those moments."

"We are responsible parents," Dem said.

"Especially Dem is. He cleans Dion most of the time when he, you know, poops," I chuckled and rubbed Dem's arm.

"You clean him when he poops?" Luc asked, horrified. "I mean, it's not just because Demetrius does it… It's just… Do you two have to clean the baby's poop too? And his…? Ew! Now, that's gross!"

"Says the one who doesn't change in two days," Ruby grumbled.

"Who will do it if not us?" Dem asked.

I thought I would feel grossed out at least the first time when I went to clean Dion. But oddly enough, it felt quite natural. Dem also was with me. He was more comfortable than I was. When I asked him, he said, "Well, he is our son. Why would it be gross or uncomfortable?"

Now, that was husband material talking.
