The Synthesis Wizard

Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Overwhelming

"The Starlight Continent represents the Star Alliance's baseline; the higher the baseline, the better the Star Alliance can develop."

After quickly reviewing the Starlight Empire report, Sunan picked up the report from Starlight Academy.

The first report was about the magic ships.

The order to develop these ships had been issued by Sunan himself.

Not only was this for the development of the Rainbow Sea, but also to prepare for potential naval battles in other planes during future Star Alliance expansions.

"The three-tiered classification system is sufficient for the Starlight Continent."

Sunan nodded in satisfaction.

Starlight Academy was still working on mastering the Class 3 magic ships. It would take time before they could be manufactured for practical use.

Although synthesis could produce Class 3 magic ships, Sunan chose not to do so.

The synthesis cost is much higher than manual production.

For building a naval force, manual production is clearly more advantageous.

Letting the academy handle the research allows Sunan to avoid micromanaging every detail.

After reviewing the Starlight Academy report, the final one was from the Star Alliance, focusing mainly on the development progress in the Rainbow Sea.

However, after reading the report, Sunan's face showed a peculiar expression.

"Divine Revelation?"

Sunan pondered.

With the planar barriers not yet restored, external deities couldn't reach into the Starlight Continent.

The previous incident with the Spider Goddess was an exception, facilitated by the dark magic tree in the Black Forest.

Could there be another "dark magic tree" in the Rainbow Sea?

The possibility existed but wasn't high.

Sunan believed the so-called divine revelation was a guise by some creature, attempting to manipulate the sirens for some purpose.

"How intriguing."

Sunan's eyes gleamed.

With Falling Star City located within the Rainbow Sea, and now a supposed divine revelation occurring, it was difficult not to connect the two.

Regardless of whether they were related or whether it was a true deity, he couldn't allow any entity to cause trouble on his territory.

The truth could be uncovered by capturing and interrogating the siren chieftain.

With a plan in mind, Sunan made a note on the report, instructing it to be relayed to Rainbow Bay.

While Sunan's orders were en route to Rainbow Bay, war had already erupted between the Star Alliance and the marine tribes.

On the day the magic ships and octopus puppets arrived in Rainbow Bay, Sheman and his team led reinforcements to the artificial islands.

Due to the distance between the three artificial islands, they decided to first secure Coral Island, the one with the fastest construction progress.

The name came from the vibrant coral reefs located four or five kilometers from the island.

These corals were rare materials used in potion-making.

This was the primary reason the Star Alliance chose this location for land reclamation, easing the collection of these reefs.

In the Star Alliance's plan, Coral Island was projected to cover 1,500 to 2,000 square kilometers.

However, due to interference from the deep-sea Nagas and sirens, Coral Island had only reached about 200 square kilometers.

The group unanimously decided to complete Coral Island first before focusing on the other two.

Once Coral Island was completed, the golem legion could move in and establish robust defenses.

At that point, even if the deep-sea Nagas and sirens attacked, they'd gain nothing.

Given the limited number of support magic ships, it made more sense to concentrate forces on one island rather than spread them thin across three.

This way, they could actively counterattack rather than merely defend.

Their strategy proved correct.

On the fifth day of the reinforcement's arrival at Coral Island, the deep-sea Nagas and sirens attacked again.

Five Class 1 magic ships patrolling the waters around Coral Island were the first to spot the approaching sea monsters.

Without any humanitarian warnings, as the sea monsters crossed the alert line, the five magic ships opened fire simultaneously.

Zzzap, zzzap, zzzap!

Over thirty magical cannon rays tore through the air, piercing the sea surface to strike the underwater monsters, puncturing their heads.

The magical cannons, a true product of magical energy technology developed by Starlight Academy, were powered by magic stones and extremely potent.

In an instant, dozens of sea monster corpses littered the water, staining it red with blood.

Simultaneously, a piercing alarm echoed over Coral Island.

Sheman and his group quickly rushed out. By the time they reached the coast, the five Class 1 magic ships had already annihilated the attacking sea monsters.

"They're sirens; they always use sea monsters to spearhead their attacks," Andrea said grimly.

As if to confirm her words, a resonant horn sounded from afar, accompanied by a faint, beautiful song.

Dozens of massive humpback whales broke through the sea surface, appearing within sight.

On their broad backs sat hundreds of sirens.

More sirens, wielding tridents and riding hammerhead sharks, emerged behind the whales, eyeing the magic ships menacingly.

Simultaneously, alarms blared from the island's other side.

"It must be the deep-sea Nagas. They often attack from different directions with the sirens to increase our defensive pressure," Andrea said, her expression heavy.

Flaming clicked his tongue, "They may be enemies, but when facing us, they unite."

"After all, we are outsiders," Sheman said calmly, turning to Corey. "Corey, can you and Flaming handle the deep-sea Nagas?"

Corey nodded silently, turning without hesitation to fly to the island's other side.

Flaming quickly followed.

Watching them depart, Sheman refocused on the approaching sirens, taking a deep breath and steeling his resolve.

"Let's hit them hard enough that they won't dare raid Coral Island again, making our future efforts much smoother."

Adil and Tagana nodded coolly.

In an instant, dazzling magical light enveloped their bodies as they charged into battle.

The moment the alarms sounded, the magic ships docked at the port had set sail. Two Class 2 magic ships and three Class 1 ships headed straight for the sirens.

Together, the ten magic ships formed a solid line on the sea, a towering metal wall blocking the sirens' advance.

As the sirens charged, they were met with a barrage of firepower.

Previously, when the sirens attacked the island, they faced ranged attacks like bows, crossbows, and spells. With the humpback whales as shields, these attacks couldn't inflict significant damage.

They intended to use the same tactic this time, but what followed caught them off guard.

The ten magic ships collectively boasted sixty-eight magical cannons. A single volley turned the lead three humpback whales into sieves, their blood gushing out and turning the waters into a sea of red.

If that were all, the whales could have pressed on with sheer numbers to reach the ships.

But as the main spell turrets of the two Class 2 ships fired, that hope was shattered.

Zzzap!

Two massive beams crossed over a thousand meters, piercing through the whales' heads and exiting through their tails, creating a geyser of crimson blood.

These formidable sea monsters, apex predators in the marine food chain, were effortlessly dispatched in an instant.

Zzzap! Zzzap!

The spell turrets fired every five to six seconds, each beam claiming more humpback whale lives.

The dual-layered barrage, a web of rays, turned the sea before the ships into a death zone.

In less than two minutes, over thirty humpback whales lay dead, their corpses floating in the blood-soaked sea.

The sirens also paid a heavy price, losing over a hundred of their number.

Those sirens who managed to pass the death zone and reach the ships found themselves at a loss before the massive metal behemoths.

Tap, tap, tap!

Rapid footsteps suddenly echoed from the ships, as if a multi-legged creature was swiftly advancing.

Then, octopus-like creatures emerged from the deck, leaping into the sea and causing splashes.

The nearby sirens instinctively thrust their tridents, only to hear a metallic clang as if they had struck something solid, leaving their hands stinging.

"Puppets!" a siren shouted in warning.

Hearing this, the surrounding sirens didn't retreat but charged with their tridents.

Past encounters with Star Alliance puppets taught them that once these puppets hit the water, they became cumbersome, easy prey in hand.

But they soon realized how terribly wrong they were.

A mass of black tentacles burst from the water, moving so swiftly the sirens couldn't react. A shadow flashed before their eyes, followed by sharp chest pains.

Looking down, they saw a metal tentacle deeply embedded in their chests!

Surviving the cannon barrage didn't bring relief; instead, the sirens met a new wave of slaughter.

Facing thousands of legendary-level puppets, the sirens stood no chance, their lives snuffed out by metal tentacles one by one.

It was a complete massacre!

The sirens soon broke, scattering in retreat.

Yet they quickly found their path blocked.

A group of human knights, riding unique dragonkin creatures, had circled behind them, cutting off their escape.

Having taken underwater breathing potions, the knights rode their water dragons, hunting down the fleeing sirens.

In the sky, Sheman, Adil, and Tagana targeted the stronger elite sirens.

From the sirens' initial attack to the battle's end, the entire conflict lasted less than ten minutes.

The Star Alliance swiftly crushed the sirens.

The latter half of the battle was a one-sided pursuit and cleanup operation.

On the shore, Andrea watched in awe.

Whether it was the magic ships' firepower, the combat prowess of the octopus puppets, or the water dragon knights, everything impressed her greatly.

With such ships and an army, once scaled up, not only could they defend the island, but they could also invade the deep sea and eradicate the sirens!

In the battle's final tally, only a handful of sirens escaped, with nearly two thousand of them wiped out.

Despite their reputation as the Rainbow Sea's foremost intelligent species, such devastating losses were crippling and deeply painful.

On the island's other side, the number of magic ships was fewer, and the deep-sea Nagas' assault was less intense than the sirens'. Shortly after Sheman's battle ended, the conflict on the other side concluded as well.

Over a thousand deep-sea Nagas were similarly decimated.

In the aftermath, the losses revealed only thirty-some octopus puppets destroyed.

The water dragon knight unit emerged unscathed, with only a few sustaining minor injuries.

The magic ships incurred only minor damage, easily repairable.

Compared to the bountiful results, these losses were negligible!

After regrouping, the group wore smiles of satisfaction.

"After this, the deep-sea Nagas and sirens should no longer underestimate us. At least in the short term, they shouldn't trouble Coral Island again."

Sheman said with a smile, then shifted topics.

"However, we mustn't let our guard down. If they return, their attack will likely be fiercer. We must be prepared."

The group nodded in agreement.

Yet events unfolded more smoothly than Sheman anticipated.

Perhaps severely stung, the sirens and deep-sea Nagas ceased their raids on Coral Island.

Instead, during several exploratory trips into the deep sea, Sheman and his team witnessed ongoing battles between the sirens and deep-sea Nagas.

For reasons unknown, the two races seemed to abandon obstructing the Star Alliance's expansion in the Rainbow Sea, resuming their mutual conflict.

In nearly every engagement, the sirens emerged victorious.

Afterward, the triumphant sirens avoided attacking ships, swiftly disappearing into the sea.

The Star Alliance's artificial island project thus entered a peaceful development phase, progressing rapidly.

Starlight Calendar 1292, Coral Island was completed.

The Star Alliance gained a new city-state named Coral City.

The first golem factory and shipyard in Coral City began mass-producing octopus puppets and magic ships.

Starlight Calendar 1293, Crackle Island was completed, and Crackle City was established.

Starlight Calendar 1294, Red Shrimp Island was completed, and Red Shrimp City was established.

In the same year, Starlight Academy developed the first Class 3 magic ship, which passed combat trials and was deployed in Rainbow Bay.

Starlight Calendar 1295, Month of Renewal (February).

The Star Alliance's first fleet was formed, named the First Naval Fleet.

The First Naval Fleet comprised five Class 3 magic ships, twenty-five Class 2 magic ships, and two hundred fifty Class 1 magic ships.

In the same year, Month of Thunder (April).

The First Naval Fleet ventured into the deep sea, heading for the sirens' habitat known as the Azure Eye.
