Chapter 9
Chapter 9 – A True Broadcast Legend (3)
—–CROW—–
“Poka-nim?”
“Yes, you know Poka-unnie, right?”
She was the one called the Demon King.
Honestly, her clips had been a great help with my Blood Emperor playthrough yesterday.
“Yes? Ah, I only know her through clips, but yes.”
“I’m close with her. She asked me to apologize. She doesn’t usually steal content like that, but the offer was too good to refuse.”
It seemed what I’d read earlier was true: SnowFlower-nim and Poka-nim were in the same crew, and even after it disbanded, they remained on good terms.
From what I saw earlier, Poka-nim was a really big streamer.
Well, considering her skills with magic from the clips, it would be stranger if she *wasn’t* a big streamer. Someone that good at games was bound to be popular.
– 500,000 won is hard to refuse.
– Lol.
– That’s not usually her style, lol.
– SnowFlowerMoonFlower/Controversy/Personality
[‘Sigh’ donated 1,000 won!]
– (Voice recording)
“Lies just roll off her tongue.”
I’d never heard that voice before, but the context sounded like it was from a sitcom.
Since this was a different world, it was becoming difficult to relate to such things.
Still, I understood the general meaning.
“Ah, thank you for the donation. The viewers are saying I’m lying.”
“Ah, no. It’s a similar story, just with a little embellishment.”
– Embellishment, my ass, lol.
– She said she was sorry she did it because of chat’s reaction.
– Ah, lol.
– “Too good to refuse” was a fabrication.
[‘Evidence’ donated 1,000 won!]
– (Switch clip)
“Ah, thank you.”
“What is this? A goddess? Oh my… What’s this person’s name?”
“WhiteStar-nim? WhiteStar… If you reverse the syllables…”
“Ah, no! Is that all you think about?!”
“Um, WhiteStar-nim?”
“Ah, sorry. I was watching the clip that came in.”
Honestly, I knew she did it for fun, but it was a comment that could be considered slightly over the line.
Of course, I didn’t mind… but I still needed to tease her a little.
“Um…”
“Ah, you can talk now. It’s over. HotStar can answer now.”
“Oh, my god, which MoonBunny sent that?! I said it was for internal use only!”
– Lol.
– HotStar, lol.
– That otherworldly joke, lol.
– HotStar, lol.
“Hey, does it matter if it’s a SnowBunny or a MoonBunny? Confess now.”
“Before that, please explain yourself.”
“Ah, I’m sorry… WhiteStar-nim, I must have been out of my mind.”
SnowFlower-nim stuttered and apologized, sounding flustered.
But just from her words, I couldn’t believe she was a woman.
“No, it’s okay. Actually, I’m a Naughty Girl.”
I thought it was good to be a bit mischievous for the sake of entertainment, but it wasn’t good if it dampened the mood.
So, I said that to try and move on playfully.
– Oh la la.
– Sexy, crazy.
– Wow, what was that just now?
– Naughty Girl, oh la la.
“Oh my, that’s not it… Ah, hahaha, it’s okay. I know you’re joking.”
“I’m really sorry… Huh? What? WhiteStar-nim, why are you already a verified streamer?”
“Ah, that. I got a notification today. I guess they’re doing it early because of yesterday’s good results.”
[‘SnowFlowerMoonFlower’ subscribed for 1 month (lv1).]
– Yay, first place!
Subscribing was a feature that supported a streamer’s channel monthly.
It could be considered a recurring donation. Subscribers didn’t see ads when watching the channel and had access to several additional features.
– Oh, she really turned on subscriptions.
– Got to be quick to become a Founder.
– Absolutely. Subscribe.
– Naturally transitioning into subscription time.
“Oh, SnowFlower-nim, thank you for the first subscription! Wait a moment, I have a reaction prepared.”
I took out the stereo microphone and switched from the microphone I was using. I was already getting to use this.
“Is the volume okay?”
“Yes, it’s good.”
I moved as close to the microphone as possible and whispered alternately into each side.
“SnowFlowerMoonFlower-nim, thank you for subscribing. Thank you. I’m happy. I love you.”
“Oh, wait… Whoa.”
– Noona, I’m dying.
– Going to subscribe right now.
– That reaction, oh la la.
[‘WhisperWhisper’ subscribed for 1 month (lv1).]
– Got the Founder spot!
“WhisperWhisper-nim, thank you for subscribing. Thank you. I’m happy. I love you.”
After that, I received a few more subscriptions.
I couldn’t not do the reaction for the later subscribers, so I did it for each person in order.
Among them, the first five bragged in chat about becoming Founders.
Founder was a kind of veteran mark that only the first subscribers to a channel could obtain.
“Wow, with everyone in chat having subscriber marks, it suddenly feels like a veteran’s broadcast.”
– Lol.
– Non-subscriber ban here. Subscribe quickly.
– They even have Founder badges.
– But this also has a newbie feel to it in a way.
“Ah, there’s no non-subscriber ban. What are you talking about?”
“That’s right. Subscribe quickly.”
“Banning SnowFlowerMoonFlower-nim.”
“Hey, why?!”
– Lol.
– Can’t help but ban SnowFlower.
– She deserves the ban.
– Their back-and-forth is crazy, lol.
– First time seeing someone besides Somei roast SnowFlower like this.
[‘Lol’ donated 1,000 won!]
– (Switch clip)
“SnowFlower eyes! I love SnowBunniiies!”
“I love you, I love you!”
“Pfft!”
I was drinking water because I was thirsty, so I almost choked.
I somehow managed to swallow the water and burst out laughing.
“What? What happened?! Are you okay?”
“Hahaha!”
“Hey, don’t just laugh, tell me!”
– Lol.
– Cute, lol.
– It really suits her.
– But it’s so funny, lol.
– Will WhiteStar-nim do aegyo too?
“Ha… Thank you for the donation. Ah, that was funny.”
“What? What did you send?!”
“SnowFlower-nim, you’re so cute. Your broadcast really *is* cute. I should visit sometimes.”
“Hey! Who sent that aegyo?! Come out!”
“I’m not good at aegyo. I think I need to learn. There’s a perfect teacher right here. Will you teach me?”
“I don’t know… Is that something you learn?”
“It’s instinctive cuteness.”
This was bad. My Soosu instincts were kicking in, and I kept teasing her. I needed to restrain myself.
“I didn’t expect this… WhiteStar-nim, you’re a formidable opponent… By the way, WhiteStar-nim, what does your broadcast title mean?”
“Ah, right. I should ask SnowFlower-nim. I’m a complete Cube newbie, right?”
“A newbie? A newbie clears Blood Emperor?”
Ah, SnowFlower-nim said she hadn’t cleared Blood Emperor.
But that was a matter of gaming skill, not whether you were a newbie or a veteran.
– Lol.
– That’s true.
– It’s unusual.
– Became a veteran in a day…
– Too much of a newbie… Wait, she’s not a newbie, is she?
“Ah, don’t say that. I *am* a newbie.”
“Hmm…”
“As you saw yesterday, my Cube broadcast setup is lacking.”
“Ah, you mean broadcasting programs?”
As expected, a current streamer would know best. It was a good opportunity to ask.
“Yes, I bought StyleOn.”
“Hmm, there are more programs than you think.”
Listening to her explanation, the number of programs was no joke.
First, she said the default game microphone’s input settings and performance were mediocre, so I needed to use a proper microphone created with software.
And for the camera, I needed to use a separate program to move beyond the default first-person perspective.
This was because most games were better streamed from a perspective other than first-person.
“Wow, it’s more complicated than setting up a cam stream.”
“But it improves the broadcast quality that much more. It costs a lot upfront, but Cube programs don’t break down and need replacing, so it’s better in that regard.”
That was true. Cube programs were as expensive as real-world broadcasting equipment, but real-world equipment needed to be replaced when it broke.
“Is it okay that you’re giving me these preset settings?”
“It’s fine. You’ll probably change them all to your liking later anyway, WhiteStar-nim.”
“Still, thank you.”
“Hee hee.”
Then, I suddenly remembered a feature I’d seen on the spec sheet when I bought the Cube.
Was it called Experience Mode?
“Ah, SnowFlower-nim. Do you know how to set up Experience Mode?”
“Oh, you should be able to turn it on now that you’re a verified streamer, but it’s limited to subscribers.”
Ah, so it was set up to be subscriber-only? That’s why there was no such option when I first started broadcasting.
“So, it’s available now. Do I just need to activate it?”
“It works like that… But you’ll need to buy a few programs to use it properly.”
Experience Mode allowed viewers watching a virtual reality game broadcast to experience the same sensations as the streamer in a first-person perspective when they were inside the Cube.
Because of this, the broadcast was sent in a completely different format than usual, so I needed to use different programs for the broadcast, she explained.
“Thanks to SnowFlower-nim, I finished quickly. Thank you. Now I can do a second part with a game.”
After quickly setting up the necessary programs for Experience Mode, I was more or less done.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was enough for now.
– Oh, are you going to play a game?
– Yes, game, yes, game.
– Let’s go!
– Will you play Simple World?
“Simple World?”
“Oh, are you going to play Simple World, WhiteStar-nim?”
“Ah, a viewer suggested it. What kind of game is it?”
“It’s an MMORPG. It has a high degree of freedom, and the NPC AI is incredibly good. Like real people. Other games aren’t like that.”
“Ah, I see.”
“If you’re going to play, do you want to play together? I’ll show you around.”
“I’d like to! I’d like to!”
I was quite interested in MMORPGs that used the Cube.
It was a genre that frequently appeared in works related to virtual reality games.
– Actually, you should have played Simple World yesterday.
– Right, learning magic through Simple World is the standard.
– To think she’d start with Blood Emperor.
– I was going to suggest Eternal War, but I was too late.
– Ah, right, SnowFlower died in Simple World.
– Lol, right, she has to start over.
“Huh? Does Simple World reset your character when you die?”
“Yes, your character is deleted immediately. But your items are transferred to your storage, so they remain.”
“Wow, that’s a scary game.”
“Despite that, it’s quite popular in Korea because of the high degree of freedom and the NPCs.”
The more I heard, the more curious I became. I had to try it out.
“Then, shall we play Simple World?”
“Yes, I’ll hang up and log in. I’ll message you on CubeTalk.”
“Okay, see you later.”
I turned on the Cube and logged in using semi-dive. Then, I downloaded Simple World.
The purchase price was free? It must be free-to-play.
“The developer is Nox, huh? They must be a big company to make a game like this.”
– Nox is a spin-off of Cube.
– It’s a game that came out early in Cube’s history, but it’s still a top-ranked game.
– It deserves to be. The quality is almost on par with recent games.
– But they don’t make any games besides Simple World.
“Ah, really? Oh, the download is finished.”
When I launched the game, I was taken straight to the character customization screen without any grand effects.
The system really was simple, just like the game’s name.
“Choose a race?”
– Ah, right, there are races.
– It’s always random.
– People even reroll for races.
– I don’t know why it’s random.
– But rerolling takes a long time, once per hour.
Rerolling meant recreating accounts until you got what you wanted.
By the way, if it took an hour, it wasn’t something you could do while broadcasting.
“I’ll just go with the first one that comes up.”
– Okay.
– But they’re all pretty.
– Right, there are no ugly races.
– But your abilities are determined by your race.
– Please let it be Ves.
[Your race has been determined to be ‘Sera’.]
“Sera? What kind of race is this?”
Just as I was about to ask the viewers about Sera, the screen changed, and a description of the race appeared.
