The Seventh Base

Chapter 32: Targeting

The next day, Xu Mo went to work at the library as usual.

The school had sent several people to conduct an investigation, and they asked some simple questions of the students in the library, as well as a few questions to Xu Mo. Xu Mo responded calmly; he hadn't done anything wrong, so he was naturally not afraid of the investigation.

After the inquiry, the librarian Mr. Lu came over to Xu Mo and asked, "How was it, did it not stress you out?"

"No," Xu Mo shook his head.

"That's good. We still have to follow the process when someone makes a report, but since you didn't do it, you don't need to worry," Mr. Lu said. "As for the person who reported you, there's no need to dwell on it. Just stay calm and keep working in the library."

"Understood, thank you, Mr. Lu," Xu Mo nodded.

Mr. Lu turned and left, and several girls approached Xu Mo and said, "Someone reported you, and they just asked us if you did anything. Did you do something bad?"

Xu Mo had been working in the library for over half a year and had become familiar with many students, especially some of the girls who often visited the library. They had a good relationship with Xu Mo and would always ask him for book recommendations.

Sometimes Zero would think that if she weren't watching, something might happen.

"Do I look like that kind of person?" Xu Mo asked.

"Yes," the girls nodded, and Xu Mo said, "Then you all have a deep misunderstanding of me. I just know a bit of psychology."

"Ha, I think you know the Mind Reading Technique," one girl said.

Xu Mo put on an exaggerated expression and whispered, "My biggest secret has been discovered? Actually, I can also see through things."

The girl looked at him with disdain, but indeed, the guy's psychology skills were really impressive. Just last time, he guessed that a girl was heartbroken just by the books she was reading.

As for Xu Mo's 'flippant' remarks, obviously, no one took them seriously.

Keep pretending, as if you can see through things, ha!

Sometimes Xu Mo would reflect on himself. Although many people suspected he knew the Mind Reading Technique, after his confession, no one believed him. This annoyed him greatly. Of course, as someone with strict standards for himself, there were some abilities he wouldn't use on others, except for Sister Butterfly!

"Anyway, Xu Mo, how did you manage to woo Zero?" a girl asked curiously, glancing at the silver-haired girl reading quietly not far away. Zero's looks were absolutely top-notch, and her figure and temperament were undeniable, enough to make any long-legged girl jealous.

She was also a student at Lucas University, Xu Mo's employer, but after some time, they could see that these two were clearly in an 'ambiguous' relationship.

How did a simple library worker like Xu Mo woo her?

Although they were friends with Xu Mo, they thought that if he really pursued them, they would still not agree. After all, the students of Lucas University had high pride, all elites; dating was not the same as making friends. Xu Mo's status and job were still lacking.

Xu Mo leaned in close, several girls also moved closer to hear gossip, only to hear Xu Mo whisper, "I never pursued any of you, believe it or not?"

The girls all shook their heads.

"Just by playing several more rounds." Xu Mo whispered, and the girls scoffed at this.

"Keep dreaming," one said.

"If you don't believe me, never mind," Xu Mo stepped back.

"Play with who?" At that moment, Zero turned her pure gaze towards Xu Mo, and innocently asked, her sword resting on the table as she spoke.

"Play with me..." Xu Mo said.

Zero continued reading her book as the girls burst into laughter.

Just then, another figure approached. When the girls saw who it was, they paused, stunned—it was Elizabeth, and she seemed to be looking for Xu Mo.

Elizabeth was dressed casually today with none of her usual nobility and aloofness. Her demeanor seemed to have undergone some change, resembling that of an ordinary student.

She sat down next to Xu Mo, and the girls beside him gave up their seats, curious about what Elizabeth wanted with Xu Mo.

They had heard that something had happened in the library yesterday, and Xu Mo had been troubled by Prince Charles, Elizabeth's brother.

"Miss Elizabeth, is there anything I can help you with?" Xu Mo asked with a smile.

He hadn't expected Elizabeth to be the first one to look for him after yesterday 's 'lesson'. Seeing the changes in her attire and demeanor, he wondered how much she had taken to heart.

"I'm sorry about yesterday's incident. It caused you unnecessary trouble," Elizabeth said to Xu Mo.

Indeed, Xu Mo had been an innocent victim yesterday. If Prince Charles hadn't intended to suppress Elizabeth and Izekat, he wouldn't have paid any attention to a mere library worker like him.

"It's alright. I should thank you, Miss Elizabeth, for speaking up for me yesterday," Xu Mo replied.

Zero looked up alertly upon hearing their conversation, her beautiful eyes unwavering as she watched Xu Mo and Elizabeth.

Zero was particularly wary of Elizabeth because, after all, this woman was truly beautiful, with fair skin, a good figure, high looks, and she was a princess, not to mention her sublime air.

Xu Mo definitely liked that kind!

Perhaps sensing Zero's gaze, Elizabeth looked at her and said, "Don't worry, I won't have any other thoughts about him."

She could clearly see that the relationship between Zero and Xu Mo was not that of ordinary master and servant, as had become quite apparent yesterday.

Although Xu Mo was clever, his personality was too erratic, and with his status as it was, she wouldn't possibly think of him in that way. Moreover, she didn't want to be at odds with Zero anymore.

Zero still didn't quite trust Elizabeth's words. Who could be sure? People can change, after all.
