Chapter 2: Chapter 1
Jasmine's POV
When I woke up, I found myself in a small room with a single bed. I blinked, confused, realizing that I was definitely not in my own room. Maybe I was dreaming? I thought, so I rolled over and tried to go back to sleep. But when I opened my eyes again, I was still in the same room.
What is happening? I thought, recalling the night before. I had been curled up on my couch, eating snacks and reading my best friend's silly Wattpad novel. I must have fallen asleep, but how did I end up here?
Just then, an old lady entered the room. "Hey, you young lady! Are you still sleeping? You've been working here for a year, and you're still doing this!" she exclaimed. "Today is a big day; there's going to be a party, and we have so much to do! First, you need to wash the dirty dishes in the kitchen and clean the floor."
Wait, what? Me? A servant? I took a step back, confused. This lady must be crazy. I headed to the bathroom, hoping to shake off the confusion. When I looked in the mirror, I was shocked. My face looked the same, but my hair was black, and I was skinny. I remembered dyeing my hair red and how I had always been a bit chubby because I loved food.
What is going on? I thought, glancing around the unfamiliar room. The old lady looked at me like I had lost my mind. "Jasmine, what are you doing? The Rajputs will be at the breakfast table, and the dishes aren't washed yet! Can you finish your work before whatever you're doing? Or do you want to be fired?" She left, leaving me even more bewildered.
Rajput. The name clicked in my mind. It was the same surname as the family in the novel! My heart raced. My best friend had named a servant Jasmine—the one who was supposed to die early in the story.
Did that mean I was really in the novel? A servant? Why couldn't I be a rich person's daughter instead? Here I was, stuck as a servant who was destined to die soon. I couldn't let that happen! I had to figure out how to survive in this strange new reality.
