Chapter 36: Chapter 36 Physical Education Teacher
This was it?
Jaxon left Yue Linshan's office with the employment letter from Goldenleaf University, feeling somewhat dazed.
Originally, Jaxon had thought Yue Linshan would ask him about his abilities and experience. To his surprise, the man simply chatted with him casually before handing over the employment letter, which already had his name written on it. All Jaxon had to do was complete the onboarding procedures.
Even interviews for elementary school teachers or private tutors weren't this easy and straightforward, right?
If this had happened anywhere else, Jaxon would have suspected he was being played. But the office was real, and the employment letter in his hands was genuine.
Could it be that university teacher interviews were always this simple?
"Whatever, it's not like I'm losing anything. The benefits of being a teacher are pretty good anyway," Jaxon thought, deciding not to dwell on it.
Meanwhile, Yue Linshan sat in his chair, gazing in the direction Jaxon had left, his eyes filled with an inexplicable gleam.
Thanks to Yue Linshan's influence and the employment letter, Jaxon's onboarding process went smoothly. Moreover, with Yue Linshan's backing, Jaxon didn't even have to stay on campus when he didn't have classes.
Just like that, Jaxon became a physical education teacher at Goldenleaf University, almost as if by accident.
Since the students hadn't officially started the semester yet, Jaxon naturally had no classes. After completing the onboarding procedures, he left Goldenleaf University and went to buy ingredients.
Learning from the lessons of the past two days, Jaxon bought a lot of ingredients this time, which meant his workload for preparing skewers would be much heavier.
"It looks like I really need to hire someone. Otherwise, with this much work, not only will I be exhausted, but I might not even finish everything," Jaxon thought to himself as he prepared the skewers.
Previously, his business had been so poor that he could barely support himself, so hiring someone was out of the question. But now, his business was picking up, and with his advanced culinary skills, Jaxon was confident it would only get better. Plus, with his new teaching job, his free time would be limited, making it even more necessary to hire help.
For the next two or three days, Jaxon's life followed a steady routine: preparing skewers during the day, running the barbecue stand at night, and traveling to another dimension in the late hours. His life was busy but fulfilling.
The barbecue business had been doing well these past few days, and word of mouth was spreading. Of course, this naturally sparked jealousy among the neighboring barbecue stands. Sometimes, they would come over and make snide remarks. Jaxon's response to such situations was to ignore them. After more than a year in this line of work, Jaxon had encountered all sorts of people. Some simply couldn't stand seeing others do better than themselves. Instead of reflecting on their own shortcomings, they would try to bring others down.
Seeing Jaxon act so "timid," the owners of the other barbecue stands felt a sense of smug satisfaction, but they were also helpless. They realized that most of their business had been taken over by Jaxon. The peak season for barbecue only lasted a few months, and if they didn't make money during this time, it would be difficult to recover later. So, they started scheming, trying to sabotage Jaxon's business and win back their customers.
In the game dimension, Jaxon hadn't received any quests these past few days and had been leveling up by killing wild monsters. With his silver-grade weapon, Jaxon's monster-slaying speed had increased significantly, and he had leveled up once. It had to be said, leveling up there was truly difficult. Jaxon had killed quite a few monsters, yet he had only gained one level. Improving his level wasn't going to be easy.
However, with each level gained, all his attribute points increased by one, which was quite beneficial. Without using any weapons, Jaxon's attributes were now three times that of an ordinary person. Jaxon imagined that by the time he reached level ten, his strength and agility alone might rival those of special forces soldiers.
Since he couldn't sell ores for the time being, Jaxon hadn't gone to mine in the cave these past few days. His main source of income now came from dismantling monster corpses. Although it wasn't as profitable as mining, it was more stable and less likely to raise suspicions.
What made Jaxon happy was that the seeds he had planted in the empty space behind his house had already sprouted and were poking through the soil. The growth rate was much faster than in the real world.
In hindsight, this made sense. After all, this was a game world, different from reality. Moreover, time passed faster there, so the growth rate of plants and animals was naturally quicker.
Jaxon still hadn't skipped his morning runs and workouts. Every morning, he would see Chloe's graceful figure on the track. Since their last greeting, Jaxon had always initiated a hello whenever they met, and Chloe would respond. However, their interactions never went beyond that, with no deeper conversations.
This morning, after finishing his workout, Jaxon didn't return to his place. Instead, he headed to his office.
Today was the first day of the semester at Goldenleaf University. Although Jaxon didn't have any classes, he felt it would be good to visit the office.
This was Jaxon's second time in his office. The first time was during the onboarding process, when the office was empty. Jaxon had just taken a quick look around before leaving. Today, however, was different. When Jaxon arrived, there were already two people inside.
"Student, who are you looking for?" a middle-aged man in his forties asked as Jaxon entered.
The other person, younger in age, glanced at Jaxon before continuing to lift dumbbells.
The physical education teachers' office was different from other teachers' offices. Besides desks, there were various fitness equipment.
"I'm not a student. I'm a teacher here too," Jaxon said, walking toward his desk. He then looked at the man who had spoken and added, "I'm Jaxon, the new physical education teacher."
"Huh?" The middle-aged man was stunned, and the one lifting dumbbells also stopped to look at Jaxon.
"You're a teacher?" the middle-aged man asked.
"Yes," Jaxon replied, pointing to his desk. "I sit here."
"So young," the middle-aged man remarked with a sigh. "I'm Sun Yue, also a physical education teacher."
Jaxon turned to the younger man, who looked back at him and said somewhat arrogantly, "With that physique, what can you even teach?"
It was true that compared to the other two, Jaxon's body appeared slimmer. Of course, this was just an illusion. Jaxon's physique wasn't bad at all. With each level he gained, his body underwent changes, becoming more and more perfect. It was just that, hidden under his clothes, he appeared somewhat slender.
