Becoming a Teacher?

Jaxon had never considered becoming a teacher, as he felt he wasn't cut out for the job. However, the benefits mentioned by the middle-aged man were tempting. Only two classes a week, his own office and desk, a single room in the teachers' apartment, and a decent salary with additional benefits during holidays. These conditions made Jaxon's heart race, and after a brief moment of hesitation, he accepted the invitation.

It was then that Jaxon learned the man was a vice president of Goldenleaf University. The vice president, an avid basketball fan, had seen Jaxon's performance on the court that morning and, assuming he was a student, had approached him for a chat. To his surprise, Jaxon had already graduated. The university happened to be in need of a physical education teacher and had been planning to recruit one soon. But after seeing Jaxon, the vice president decided to extend a direct invitation instead.

"Never thought I'd end up as a physical education teacher," Jaxon mused to himself back at his place. But he still wondered if the vice president had the final say in this matter. "Even if it doesn't work out, I haven't lost anything. I'll just forget about this morning's incident," Jaxon thought. Putting the matter aside for now, he went out to buy some groceries. Since his business had been particularly good the day before, he planned to stock up more this time.

"Lily, Lily, your boyfriend was so cool just now!" The door to Lily's dormitory was flung open as a figure rushed in.

"What boyfriend? When did I have a boyfriend?" Lily looked at her roommate in exasperation. "Also, Xiaoru, didn't you go to buy breakfast? Where's the breakfast?"

"Yeah, where's our breakfast?" Xiaoyun, another roommate of Lily's, chimed in. "You lost the game of rock-paper-scissors just now. You were supposed to buy breakfast. Don't try to weasel out of it."

"I forgot," the girl who had just come in said sheepishly. "I was so busy watching Lily's boyfriend that I forgot to buy breakfast."

"I don't have a boyfriend. Who are you talking about?"Lily asked.

"The one who brought you to school yesterday," Xiaoru said.

Lily's mind conjured up the image of Jaxon and she explained, "I told you, he's not my boyfriend. We're just ordinary friends. No, we're not even ordinary friends."

"Come on, Lily, stop explaining," Xiaoyun said. "Xiaoru, tell us what happened. You already knew he was Lily's boyfriend, yet you stared at him so much that you forgot to buy breakfast?"

Lily was at a loss for words. Why wouldn't her roommates believe her no matter how she explained?

At this moment, Lily regretted letting Jaxon bring her to school. If he hadn't come, her roommates wouldn't have misunderstood.

"So, I was on my way to buy breakfast when I happened to pass by the school's basketball court..." Xiaoru recounted to her two roommates what she had seen by the court. Apparently, she had been one of the onlookers at the time.

"Is that true? Is Lily's boyfriend really that amazing?" Xiaoyun asked skeptically.

"He's not my boyfriend!" Lily explained again.

However, her words did nothing to convince her roommates, who even chose to ignore her.

"Of course it's true! I saw it with my own eyes!" Xiaoru exclaimed. "There were so many people at the scene! They were all shocked, their jaws dropping to the ground. It's just that some shameless people actually went to ask for his contact information afterward. Don't they know he's Lily's boyfriend and already taken?"

"He's not my boyfriend..." Lily said weakly.

"Some people really have no shame," Xiaoyun nodded. "Lily, you have to keep an eye on your boyfriend. Don't let others snatch him away."

"He's not my boyfriend..."

"That's true. You really have to keep a tight hold on him," Xiaoru agreed. "To be honest, if I didn't know he was Lily's boyfriend, I would have wanted to ask for his contact information too."

"He's not my boyfriend..."

"Xiaoru, that's a dangerous thought. You know you can't take a friend's husband, right?"

"He's really not my boyfriend!"

"Of course I know. I was just thinking, I didn't actually go and ask," Xiaoru said, looking at Lily and adding, "Lily, don't worry, I really didn't ask for his contact information. I swear!"

Lily was at a loss for words. She had repeated so many times that Jaxon was not her boyfriend, yet neither of her roommates believed her.

Just then, the dormitory door was opened again and Wenting Wang walked in. After entering, she glanced at Lily and casually remarked, "Your boyfriend plays basketball pretty well."

"He's not my boyfriend!" Lily felt desperate."

However, his clothing is still so old-fashioned and cheap," Wenting Wang continued to criticize Jaxon's attire, ignoring Lily's explanation.

"Wenting, how can you speak of Lily's boyfriend like that?" Xiaoyun expressed her discontent.

"That's right. He is Lily's boyfriend after all. What you said is a bit too much," Xiaoru also chimed in, "And I think his clothing looks fine."

"That's because your fashion sense is as old-fashioned and cheap as his!" Wenting Wang said mercilessly.

"Wenting Wang! You are too much!" Xiaoyun exclaimed.

However, Wenting Wang didn't seem to care at all. Her expression remained unchanged as she took her keys and bag and left.

"Just because she has some money, she thinks she's so great," Xiaoyun was still indignant. She comforted Xiaoru by saying, "Don't mind her. People like her just have no taste."

"Okay," Xiaoru nodded, but her expression was still somewhat gloomy.

Both Lily and Xiaoyun knew that Xiaoru's family background was not very good. The clothes she wore were indeed not very nice, and her dressing style couldn't compare with Wenting Wang's. It was natural that she would feel a bit upset after being criticized by Wenting Wang.

Lily also didn't have a good impression of Wenting Wang. She thought she was too mean and too fond of showing off. However, since they were all classmates and roommates, she didn't want to have a falling out with Wenting Wang before. But now it seemed that Wenting Wang didn't care about their classmate and roommate relationship.

This made Lily's impression of Wenting Wang even worse, and Wenting Wang's evaluation of Jaxon also made Lily somewhat dissatisfied.

"What a disgusting person!" Lily thought to herself.
