The Peerless Ring

Chapter 22: Chapter 22 The Skills Have Improved

Jaxon was unaware that some people had misunderstood the relationship between him and Lily. After seeing Lily off, he returned to his place, organized the ingredients, and prepared for his evening barbecue.

In the game world, he had already leased the land, but he didn't have the money to buy seeds yet, so he couldn't start planting for the time being. Jaxon had checked before, and the seeds for those vegetables and fruits were all available at the general store. The store, living up to its name, had a wide variety of items, covering everything one could think of. However, because it was run by a shrewd businessman, the prices were naturally not cheap.

Jaxon currently had only one gold coin in savings, which was clearly not enough to buy a large quantity of seeds. So, for now, he could only kill more monsters, obtain their corpses, and then sell them for money to buy seeds.

Last night, he had been mining in the cave. Although he hadn't completed Sun the blacksmith's task before being teleported out, he had killed quite a few Golden Mole Rats during the mining process. Although most of them hadn't left corpses, the sheer number of rats he had killed meant that he still ended up with four or five corpses. Using the butchering skill, Jaxon disassembled those corpses and obtained a good amount of teeth, claws, fur, and meat, which he planned to sell for money when he returned to the village.

What Jaxon found regrettable was that after killing so many Golden Mole Rats, not a single piece of equipment had dropped. The drop rate was really too low to be acceptable.

In the evening, before it got completely dark, Jaxon took his things and headed to his stall.

As the university's opening date approached, the foot traffic here gradually increased, and the number of people selling things around also grew. Jaxon didn't care much about the others, but he was concerned that two more barbecue stalls had appeared, which meant he now had two more competitors.

"The competition is getting fiercer and fiercer. It's getting hard to do business," Jaxon lamented.

There were already many barbecue stalls here, not to mention several barbecue restaurants. Even though the barbecue business was good in the summer, it couldn't withstand so many people doing it. Among all the barbecue vendors, Jaxon's equipment was the most rudimentary, and coupled with his poor skills, he was at a disadvantage in the competition.

"But today might be different!" Jaxon thought about how he had learned advanced cooking skills from Aunt Wang in the game world yesterday. This cooking skill covered a wide range of things, including barbecue.

In fact, when Jaxon was making skewers in the afternoon, he had already clearly felt that he was more proficient in making skewers, and the skewers he made were more beautiful, with a noticeable difference from what he had made before.

With an expectant mood, Jaxon set everything up and waited for the first customer to arrive.

"Boss, two skewers of enoki mushrooms and one skewer of pork belly!"

After waiting for about ten minutes, the first order came in. Although it wasn't a big order, Jaxon was still very happy as long as there was business.

"Sure thing."

Jaxon took two skewers of enoki mushrooms and one skewer of pork belly, placed them on the barbecue grill, and started barbecuing, constantly turning them and seasoning them. Before long, waves of delicious aroma began to emanate from the food.

"The smell is so good. Boss, your skills have improved," the customer standing in front of the barbecue grill said with a face full of intoxication and confusion.

There was no doubt that the aroma was coming from the food in front of him. However, this customer had been to Jaxon's place for barbecue before. He was very clear about Jaxon's skills and didn't expect that Jaxon's skills seemed to have improved a lot today.

"I've been doing barbecue for a month now. I've gained some experience," Jaxon said with a smile. He could also smell the food and was obviously very satisfied with his skills.

"This advanced cooking skill is really something," Jaxon thought to himself.

Soon, the three skewers of food were all done. Jaxon handed them to the customer, who had been attracted by the aroma for a long time. After receiving them, he couldn't wait for them to cool down and started eating immediately.

"Be careful not to burn yourself," Jaxon warned.

"Mm, mm," the customer nodded while eating, not stopping his mouth movements at all: "It's so delicious! Boss, your skills have improved a lot. The taste is so much better than before. I can't help it, this is not enough. Give me the same two more!"

Obviously, the customer had been completely conquered by Jaxon's skills. He hadn't finished eating what was in his mouth and already ordered two more.

"Sure, just a moment," Jaxon was naturally very happy inside and quickly continued to barbecue.

"What smell is so good?"

"It seems to be coming from the barbecue stall next door."

"It is indeed the smell of barbecue. I just had my meal, but I can't help drooling at this smell."

"How about we go and have some?"

"No way, right? I've been to that barbecue stall before. The boss is a novice, and the skills are pretty average."

"Is it average? The smell is so good. I can't help it. I really want to try."

"It might just smell good. The taste is really average when you eat it. I've tried it before."

"You're not going, I am. I have to try it, or my stomach will protest."

Passers-by, attracted by the aroma of the food from Jaxon's stall, couldn't help but walk over, while some who had eaten here before looked skeptical.

"Boss, ten skewers of small meat, two skewers of mushrooms, two skewers of chives."

"One hot dog, two chicken wings."

"Boss, give me two portions of grilled squid, one portion of eggplant, and two portions of lamb skewers."

...

More and more passers-by were attracted by the smell and couldn't help but walk over and order a few portions.

"Sure, sure." Jaxon's face was beaming with joy.

In front of his barbecue stall, quite a few people had gathered, and everyone had ordered something. Since he started barbecuing, his business had never been this good. Naturally, he was in a very good mood.

The advanced cooking skill allowed Jaxon to not only cook the food very deliciously but also ensure the taste of each type of food, even when barbecuing a variety of ingredients at the same time. His barbecue grill was now full of food, yet he still skillfully and orderly turned them and seasoned them. Everything was well-organized, without any chaos.

Moreover, Jaxon found that his memory seemed to have improved. Although many customers came at the same time and each ordered different things, he could remember what each person had ordered clearly, without any omissions. He didn't even need to ask the customers a second time. This memory ability alone was astonishing.

"It's probably related to the intelligence attribute in the character attributes," Jaxon speculated in his mind.
