Chapter 20: Chapter 20 Send Lily to Report for Registration
"Why didn't you refuse?" Lily asked Jaxon, her face flushed with anger.
"Why should I refuse?" Jaxon replied, looking at Lily.
It turned out that Lily was going to register at school today. Aunt Wang was supposed to accompany her, but since Aunt Wang hadn't finished her tasks yet, she had to ask Jaxon to help take Lily there. Jaxon didn't refuse Aunt Wang's request, which made Lily very unhappy.
"I don't need you to take me! I can go by myself," Lily said.
The distance to Goldenleaf University wasn't far, and Lily could indeed go there alone. She didn't want to have much contact with Jaxon in the first place, so she was even more reluctant to let him take her.
"I've already promised Aunt Wang, so I definitely have to take you there," Jaxon said. "You don't have to worry. I'll come back after I drop you off."
"I don't need it!" Lily said, pushing her suitcase and walking out.
Jaxon shrugged, closed the door, and followed Lily from behind.
Lily knew Jaxon was behind her but ignored him and continued walking forward.
Goldenleaf University was already bustling at this time. Not only were the returning students coming back one after another, but the new students also began to arrive for registration. Seeing the students coming and going on campus, Lily, who had been angry with Jaxon, couldn't help but smile. She was full of anticipation for her upcoming college life.
"Freshman, are you new here? I'm a senior in my third year. Let me help you with your things."
"I'll do it. I know the campus well. I'll take you to register."
While Lily was still looking around the campus, several guys approached her, their enthusiasm scaring her a bit.
"No, thank you. We know the way," Jaxon said as he walked up from behind, took the suitcase from Lily's hand, and stood in front of her, addressing the guys.
"Are you also here to welcome the new students?" the guys asked Jaxon, their faces turning a bit sour.
"No, I'm not," Jaxon shook his head. "I'm her brother. I'll take her. There's no need to trouble you."
As a graduate, although not from Goldenleaf University, Jaxon knew that every year when new students registered, the school would arrange senior students to welcome them and guide them. This was the case in every school.
Usually, it wasn't a good job, but if you encountered a girl, especially a pretty one, it was a different story. The seniors would usually be very "enthusiastic" in such situations.
Lily was clearly in the category of pretty girls, and even among the top tier. So, it wasn't surprising that she attracted so many enthusiastic seniors offering to help.
Upon hearing that Jaxon was Lily's brother, the guys' faces immediately brightened.
"You must be new here. You definitely don't know the place well. Let me take you. It will save time."
"Our school is quite large. It's easy to get lost without someone to guide you. Let me take you to register. What's your major, classmate?"
Apparently, these guys were still unwilling to give up this opportunity. When they spoke, their eyes would unconsciously glance at Lily.
Goldenleaf University had a fair number of female students, but the pretty ones were still in the minority. Those at Lily's level were even rarer. Encountering such a beauty, male students, especially single ones, naturally wanted to show off. If they could get her contact information, that would be even better.
At first, Lily was reluctant when she heard Jaxon say he was her brother and was about to object.
However, when she saw the "wolfish" guys around her, she swallowed her words. Although Jaxon was annoying, he was much better than them. At least he didn't make her nervous.
"No, I've been here before and I know the place well," Jaxon said, taking Lily's hand and walking forward.
Jaxon was indeed familiar with the place. He had been coming here almost every day for the past year, so he naturally knew where to go for registration.
Seeing Jaxon's response, the guys had no choice but to give up. However, when they looked at Lily, their eyes were full of regret. It was a pity to encounter such a beauty and not be able to get close. Anyone would feel frustrated.
"I wonder what her major is. She's definitely at the level of a campus beauty."
"Yeah, I wonder if she has a boyfriend."
"Probably not. Otherwise, she wouldn't have her brother take her here."
"Is that guy really her brother? They don't look alike. Could he be her boyfriend?"
"He looks like her boyfriend to me. Otherwise, why would they be holding hands?"
"Holding hands means they're a couple? If they were really a couple, why wouldn't they admit it? If I had such a pretty girlfriend, I'd want everyone to know and make others give up."
"Exactly. They don't look like a couple at all. It's a pity we didn't get her contact information."
The guys muttered among themselves as they watched Jaxon and Lily's backs.
"You... let go of me!"
Lily's face turned red as she pulled her hand away from Jaxon's, looking at him with a mix of embarrassment and anger.
When Jaxon took her hand just now, her head was in a daze. It was her first time being held by a male other than her father. She didn't expect Jaxon to be so bold as to do that. Her mind went blank at the time, and she let Jaxon lead her until she came to her senses after walking for a while and quickly pulled away from him.
"Sorry, I was just trying to avoid them from pestering us," Jaxon said, a bit embarrassed. He hadn't thought much about it at the time, but now he realized that what he did was indeed a bit presumptuous.
"You're a pervert! I'm going to tell my aunt!" Lily said indignantly, unwilling to believe Jaxon's words.
"I really didn't mean to," Jaxon explained. "You saw just now. They were so enthusiastic. If I hadn't taken your hand, we probably wouldn't have been able to get away."
"You're just like them, a wolf in sheep's clothing!" Lily said.
Jaxon felt embarrassed. It seemed that his image in Lily's eyes had completely collapsed.
Just at that moment, a familiar figure approached Jaxon and said to him, "You didn't come to exercise this morning?"
"Yes, I was delayed by something," Jaxon replied, a bit dazed.
Jaxon hadn't expected to run into Chloe here, and that she would take the initiative to speak to him.
This morning, because of Aunt Wang's arrival, Jaxon hadn't had time to exercise.
But how did Chloe know that?
Suddenly surrounded by two beautiful girls, Jaxon instantly became the center of attention for those around him, with the girls looking puzzled and the boys feeling jealous.
