he Mate Agency’s secret hideout buzzed with anticipation. The team has worked tirelessly to prepare for our first client. One evening, Elias walked into the warehouse, accompanied by a young woman with piercing green eyes.

“Sage, Ava, Liam, this is Emily my cousin,” Elias introduced

“And she needs our help”

Emily’s nervous smile hinted at her desperation.

“Emily’s been searching for her mate for years and about a month ago she said she felt his presence like he was near and then she followed his scent up to a neighboring pack for about a week and suddenly his scent disappeared, that must have been when the pills where put into the water system thereby blocking his scent” Elias explained.

“And she’s had no luck with traditional pack matches.”

I warmly welcomed Emily, while Liam nodded in understanding.

“I’ll start scanning for potential matches,” Liam said, already typing away on his computer.

Ava bean preparing her spellcasting materials. We couldn’t just use technology we had to back it up with magic.

“I’ll need some personal items from Emily,” Ava said. “Hair, clothing, anything that holds her scent or holds a dear meaning to her.”

Emily handed over a bracelet “Here I’ve had this since I was a kid, you can use it.” As I noticed Elias’s protective gaze I was almost jealous but then she’s his cousin .

Hours passed, and Liam finally looked up from his screen .

“I’ve got a match and your all going to be shocked, but let Ava confirm it with her spell.”

Ava’s spell revealed a stunning visual representation of Emily’s mate.

“That’s my brother” Ryder exclaimed

“Wow”

“I told you guys you’d be surprised” Liam said

Emily’s face lit up “I’ve seen him once like a year ago when I came to visit Elias at his pack, I’m guessing he was there to see Ryder.”

I smiled. ”We’ll arrange a meeting. Elias, can you…”

Elias nodded. “I’ll make the call.”

I was happy, this evening we changed someone’s life , Emily left with renewed sense of hope, and I felt a surge of pride, I’ve never felt like a leader at this point I do and when all this is over I think it’s safe to say I’m ready to rule, to bring peace and happiness, bring my mother’s killers to justice to take back my throne this is now a war between families and I’m ready and I needed my dad’s help I need to reach out to him somehow.

The mate agency was working, we were ready to take up the task, Later that evening,as the team packed up, Elias lingered.

“Sage, can I talk to you for a minute?” Elias asked, his voice low.

My heart skipped a beat, I could hear my wolf howling in my head, more like a happy howl. “Of course,” I replied, walking with Elias to the edge of the warehouse.

He turned, his piercing blue eyes locking on to mine. “I’m grateful for what you’ve done for Emily,” Elias said. “You’re incredible.” I blushed at his comment.

“It’s what we do,” I said, trying to sound casual.

Elias stepped closer. “No its more than that, “He whispered. “You care deeply. I admire that.” Our faces were inches apart, and I couldn’t lie I felt an undeniable spark. Elias’s hand brushed against my hands, sending shivers down my spine.

“I think we make a great team , Sage,” Elias said, his voice husky.

My heart was pounding but why?

“In more ways than one,” I replied, my voice was barely a whisper, our lips almost touched, but Elias pulled back his eyes had darkened like they were burning with desire.

“Soon,” He whispered , he looked like he was restraining himself and the he walked off leaving me in a state of confusion, I couldn’t shake off the electrifying sensation. Ava approached, a sly grin spreading across her face.

“Someone’s got feelings,” Ava teased.

I blushed

“Don’t start, “I warned her and she chuckled

“I’m just happy to see you happy”

“Thanks girl, but I can’t have feelings for him what if he’s not my mate. My wolf might want him, I might want him too but what if he isn’t my soulmate” I told Ava as we got into my car. I turned on the ignition as the car came to life.

“Maybe you should back out while you can, I mean with everything going on you shouldn’t be looking for your mate” Ava sounded non- chalant and I got angry because this wasn’t her its like her mood just flickered “I can’t believe you right now” I spat

“We always said it was important to find our soulmates now you tell me this”

“Why are you getting mad I just said you said stay away from Elias and I also said you shouldn’t look for your mate I’m just looking out for you”

“Well don’t” I said angrily as I dropped her off at her coven and then I zoomed off,yes she’s my bestfriend but she was way out of line this time.

On reaching my house I saw a figure by the door the person was wearing a cloak so I couldn’t see their face I walked towards the direction of the figure as my instincts kicked in , I approached cautiously as I took out the hidden dagger in my boots, but the figre stepped forward revealing a familiar face.

“Kael!” I exclaimed but he put his index finger to his lips signaling me to keep shut, I wonder why.

Kael was a renowned seer and a family friend. He was taller than the last time I saw him, his once sharp jawline now softened by age, his brown eyes, though a little dim , still held a deeper wisdom, his silver hair ,once peppered with dark strands now fell to his shoulders . I wanted to ask why he told him to keep quiet but before I could ask , Kael whispered “Forgive me child” he reached out and touched my temples and I already knew where this was going and it was going to hurt like a bitch, a sudden jolt of energy coursed through my mind,a searing sensation, like a hot blade sliced through my thoughts as Kael’s presence invaded my mind and his voice became clearer in my head . Kael had established a mindlink between me and him, werewolves are known to be able to mindlink their pack members but for me it was different. I wasn’t always at the pack , my parents ruled the underworld so they had access to the mindlink of all the packs but I have never mindlinked anyone apart from my mum and now Kael.

My thoughts were racing everywhere “Sage, your aunt has eyes and ears everywhere that’s why I had to do this” his voiced boomed in my head

“Your father might be in danger. I’ve received a message from him.”

My heart sank, I couldn’t lose another parent and then I left things unsettled with him.

“What?, How?” I mindlinked back

“As an overlord, your father’s mindlink is powerful. He reached out to me his voice was faint in my head but I go the message , and I’ve come to warn you”

“He said you should meet him under the old oak tomorrow at dawn, go alone” Kael said shortly

“Becareful child”

“Thank you kael”

“You know where to find me child, don’t forget your powerful after all you are the daughter of Thomas Blackwood, don’t forget that” Kael said through the mindlink .

“Wait what do you mean I’m powerful, I’m just a werewolf whose parents have a powerful title” I asked

“With time your questions will be answered” and then kael vanished into the night.

My mind reeled with unanswered questions , What was happening? , Why was my dad in danger? All my questions can only be answered by my dad and I’m going to do everything to protect him. I didn’t get much sleep that night because I was worried about my dad and I couldn’t tell anyone.
