THE MATE AGENCY

As the sun began to set, I bid my farewell to the children promising to come back soon, I also said my goodbyes to Elias. Upon arriving home , I saw the guards stationed at my house, why were they at my home? They are usually stationed at the Overlord’s place since my dad isn’t around for the time being it must mean that my aunt is at my house, I quickly walked inside the house ignoring the guards as the bowed as I passed them, I look in the kitchen, the lounge area she wasn’t there.

I decided to ask a guard “I’m looking for Overlord Carissa, where is she?” I asked one of the guards “She’s in the Previous Overlord’s office” He said shortly. I walked upstairs to his office, it’s been a while since I was up here, before I pushed the door I heard and exchange between her and someone but I couldn’t recognize the other voice. I pushed my ear towards the door so I could hear what they were saying “I have to find it, the undertaking that my brother signed saying he agrees to the non-mating policy ”Carissa said as she scruffled through the papers on his desk.

“But why is it so important?” the other voice asked “Because it’s important for our plan, the werewolf and witch council are against me ruling the underworld, so if I can show the evidence that Tom signed the non-mating policy then I will have a shot or else they want that wretched niece of mine to rule” She said with malice in her voice.

I wonder why she hates me so much, what have I done to her? I barely knew, I’ve only met like twice and I was a kid so why did she want to bring down our world so bad, well now I have to match her game I’ll be the one to end her and bring happiness back to my world

“But we have to make sure the council keeps the non-mating policy a secret so we can take their happiness right under their noses, I’ll brew a pill , they are chii blockers , I’ve been working on them for a while to suppress the abilities of werewolves disrupting the balance of our world and their packs will crumble, it’s completely odourless and colourless so we can put it in the water supply that way the wolves that haven’t mated won’t be able to ever sense their mates” the other voice said.

My heart sank, I felt a wave of devastation wash over me, their plans were so sinister. How could she even consider such a thing, to her own kind ? The thought of being unable to find my own mate, of being forced to live without a connection to my other half was unbearable.

I thought of how much effort my parents put to bring peace into both the werewolf and witch societies, Just like that a wave of determination washed over me, I would not let this happen, I would protect all the packs, my best-friend, my future mate, and I would protect the very essence of our existence.

I slipped away quietly down the stairs, so I wouldn’t attract any attention, I knew I had to act. The fate of the packs hung in balance, and I was ready to fight. I still couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease after overhearing the conversation between my aunt and that stranger , I wonder who the stranger is the only thing I know is that her accomplice was a witch and I had to find out who was helping her , maybe I could ask Ava to help me find out I thought.

I needed help, I needed to tell someone about the evil plans being concocted I couldn’t do it alone. That’s when I thought of Elias I always sensed something special in him, something that made me believe he’ll under my plight. Elias was an Alpha and a powerful one at that they had the best warriors, guards and seers , their pack was the best in the werewolf world.

I went upstairs to my dad’s office, I hesitated, as I traced my fingers on the worn phone-book. I haven’t made this kind of call before, but I was desperate, I dialed the landline number, my heart racing. The phone rand several times before a smooth voice answered.

“Silver line pack, Alpha’s office. This Ryder.”

I almost hung up, but I steeled myself “Hi Ryder, I need to speak with Alpha Elias.”

Ryder’s tone turned cautious. “May I ask who’s calling?”

“Sage Blackwood.”

“I’ll leave a message for him Ms Blackwood Alpha Elias in indisposed at the moment” I sensed Ryder’s wariness, but I pressed on “Please tell him it’s urgent. I need his help, tell him to call me on this number”

“Very well, I’ll let him know Ms Blackwood, by the way I’m sorry about Overlord Karen’s death” Ryder’s pen scratched against paper

“ Thank you” I told Ryder and hung up, anxiety was gnawing at me. Would Elias call me back? I had no other options. As I waited, my thoughts drifted to Elias his piercing blue eyes, his commanding presence. I pushed aside the flutter in my chest, focusing on the task at hand. I waited for Elias to call me back, an hour had passed I was about to lose hope, the phone rang my heart skipped a beat “Hello?” I answered trying to sound calm

“Sage Blackwood” Elias’s deep voice sent shivers down my spine.

“What’s wrong?” he questioned, I took a deep breath “I need your help” I said my voice was barely a whisper. “I overheard something terrible. They’re planning to put pills in the water supply to prevent werewolves from finding their mates.”

Elias’s voice darkened. “We can’t let that happen.”

“I have a plan, we’ll start and agency to help werewolves find their mates secretly but I can’t do it alone I need your help”

Elias’s voice lit up “I’m in” he responded immediately

“I’m going to call it the mate agency” I told him

“Then next I’m going to talk to Ava about it, so please if you have allies that can join us it’ll be much appreciated” I said to Elias

“It’s okay Sage, talk to Ava while I gather more people okay” he sounded so caring

“Elias, thank you” I told him truthfully

“Anytime Sage” I ended the call now I had to talk to Ava.
