The Invincible Sect Leader

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: The Hidden Truth of Sun City

The battlefield was a storm of energy as Chan Li and the Crimson Specter clashed. The air rippled with their strikes, dark Qi colliding against Tai Chi energy in an awe-inspiring display of power. Every movement was calculated; every exchange sent shockwaves rippling through the surroundings. The other disciples stood at the edges of the battlefield, wary of interfering in a fight of such magnitude.

Crimson Specter chuckled as he dodged a particularly vicious palm strike from Chan Li. "Impressive. I haven't faced someone who can match my dark arts in a long time. But let's see how you handle this!"

A thick aura of blood-colored mist emanated from his body, forming ghostly figures that screeched with malicious intent. They lunged at Chan Li, their ethereal claws seeking to tear through his defenses. However, Chan Li remained calm. With a flick of his wrist, Tai Chi energy coalesced into a barrier around him, dissolving the ghastly wraiths upon contact.

"You're relying too much on theatrics," Chan Li remarked, his smirk unwavering. "Let's see how you handle a direct attack."

He thrust forward, his Tai Chi energy compressing into a single devastating blow. The Crimson Specter barely had time to react before the force sent him skidding backward, crashing into a ruined stone pillar. For the first time, uncertainty flickered across his masked face.

Unraveling the Mystery

Meanwhile, inside Sun City, the disciples split into smaller teams to investigate the city's eerie silence. Yue Feiyan and Yan Ling led one group to the governor's palace, only to find it abandoned, the main hall in disarray as if a struggle had taken place. Scrolls lay scattered across the floor, and an ominous message was scrawled in blood on the wall: "Beware the unseen."

"What happened here?" Yue Feiyan murmured, scanning the room. Her icy gaze fell upon an overturned chair with a strange emblem carved into its wood.

Yan Ling crouched beside it, running a finger over the symbol. "This is no ordinary marking… it's a sigil of an ancient sect long thought to be extinct. The Shadow Eclipse Sect."

A Mysterious Encounter

As they pieced together clues, another group led by Lin Xuan and Li Mei investigated the merchant district. They found signs of looted shops, but no bodies, no blood just an unsettling emptiness. Then, from the shadows, a voice echoed.

"You shouldn't have come here."

The disciples turned to see the beggar from the rooftops standing before them. His tattered robes fluttered slightly in the wind, and his eyes gleamed with an unnatural light.

"Who are you?" Lin Xuan demanded, his grip tightening around his thunder spear.

The beggar smirked. "A mere observer… and a former disciple of the Shadow Eclipse Sect. If you truly wish to uncover Sun City's secret, meet me at the old temple by dawn. But beware the darkness here is alive."

As suddenly as he appeared, the beggar vanished, leaving behind only a chill in the air.
