The Invincible Sect Leader

Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Unmasking the Traitor

A heavy silence hung in the grand hall as Yue Feiyan's words settled over the gathered elders and disciples. A traitor? The very thought sent waves of unease through the sect.

Chan Li leaned back in his chair, tapping the armrest thoughtfully. "A traitor, you say? That's quite the claim. Do you have proof?"

Yue Feiyan's silver eyes held no hesitation. "Not proof, but a strong lead. The Abyssal Night Sect has been intercepting your movements too accurately. Someone within your ranks is feeding them information."

Grand Elder Wu furrowed his brow. "This is troubling news. Sect Master, what should we do?"

Chan Li smirked. "Simple. We set a trap."

Luring the Snake from its Hole

Under Chan Li's command, a false operation was planned. A rumored secret technique was said to be hidden deep within the sect's library, an artifact capable of strengthening one's cultivation overnight. The news was subtly leaked among the disciples and elders.

Chan Li watched closely. If someone reported this to the Abyssal Night Sect, he would know.

Days passed without incident. Then, one night, the trap was sprung.

Caught in the Act

A shadowy figure slipped through the sect corridors, their movements swift and precise. They made their way to the library's inner chamber, where the supposed artifact was hidden.

Just as they reached out to grab the fake scroll, the formation activated. A surge of spiritual energy locked them in place.

Torches flared to life. Chan Li stepped forward, arms crossed, a smirk playing on his lips. "Going somewhere?"

The figure struggled but couldn't break free. With a flick of his wrist, Chan Li dispelled the cloaking technique revealing the traitor.

Everyone gasped.

"Senior Disciple Wang?!"

Wang's face contorted with fury. "Damn you, Chan Li!"

Grand Elder Wu shook his head. "Why betray us? The sect has done nothing but nurture you!"

Wang sneered. "You fools don't understand! The Abyssal Night Sect promised me true power. Unlike you, I won't be left behind!"

Chan Li's expression darkened. "You made your choice. Now you'll face the consequences."

Judgment. A trial was held at dawn. The sect's council gathered as Wang was forced to kneel before them.

"You sold us out for greed," Grand Elder Wu said solemnly. "The punishment for treason is death."

Chan Li, however, raised a hand. "No. Death is too easy. I have a better idea."

With a flick of his fingers, he sealed Wang's cultivation, crippling him. "You will live powerless. A lesson to all who think of betraying their own."
