Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Shadows Loom Over the Sect
The journey back to the Heavenly Mystical Sect was uneventful, but the weight of their recent encounter lingered in the air. Even Chan Li, who often laughed off the dangers of the cultivation world, remained deep in thought.
Yan Ling scratched his head. "So… should we be worried? That Yan Zhun guy seemed way too calm. He wasn't scared at all."
Lan Xue nodded. "He was testing us. And we don't know if we passed or failed."
Chan Li sighed. "It doesn't matter. If they come knocking, we'll handle them like everyone else. But we need to prepare."
Fortifying the Sect
Upon their return, Chan Li gathered the elders and core disciples.
"The Abyssal Night Sect knows about us now," he announced. "That means assassins, spies, and sabotage. We can't just sit around and wait for them."
Grand Elder Wu stroked his beard. "Do we have a plan, Sect Master?"
"Yes," Chan Li said. "First, we strengthen the formations. Lan Xue, you'll take charge of fortifying our defensive arrays. Make sure no one can slip through unnoticed."
Lan Xue bowed. "Understood."
"Second, we train our disciples harder. Yan Ling, you'll lead combat drills. I want every disciple prepared for night ambushes and sneak attacks."
Yan Ling smirked. "I'll make warriors out of them, don't worry."
"Third," Chan Li continued, "we expand our information network. If the Abyssal Night Sect is watching us, we'll watch them too. We need spies, informants, and contacts."
Grand Elder Wu smiled. "I know a few old friends who can help."
"Good. And lastly," Chan Li's eyes gleamed, "we'll make sure our name spreads even further. If the Abyssal Night Sect thinks we're an easy target, let's make them regret it."
A Mysterious Visitor
As the preparations began, an unexpected guest arrived at the sect gates.
A woman in a black cloak, her face hidden behind a veil, stood before the guards. Her aura was powerful, yet controlled.
"I seek an audience with your Sect Master," she said, her voice cold yet graceful.
The guards hesitated but eventually led her to the main hall.
Chan Li raised an eyebrow as she entered. "And who might you be?"
The woman removed her veil, revealing striking silver eyes. "I am Yue Feiyan. I bring a warning."
The room fell silent.
"The Abyssal Night Sect isn't just watching you," Yue Feiyan continued. "They've already made their move. You have a traitor in your midst."
