The female supporting character, yet a charmer to everyone

Chapter 28 - Post-apocalyptic Literature 09

She took the opportunity presented by the chaos to escape from Lu Mingzhang. Yu Huan hurriedly ran in the opposite direction, but then remembered that she also wanted to go to City B.

She was sad and turned around.

When she got back to where she started, Lu Mingzhang and the others had already left.

The system was confused and tried to open the map, but it didn’t work. It just made Yu Huan spin around for several days.

But then, just as it looked like there was no way out, the system secretly opened a small window and found a car with the destination of City B. Yu Huan was told to follow it.

But how could a person keep up with the car’s speed?

Luckily, the car didn’t go far before stopping, and the people on it got off to rest.

Yu Huan squatted on the ground, breathing heavily, tired.

As the grass leaves moved, a person came over. Their face was hidden, but they looked like someone Yu Huan knew.

She held her breath, pushed the grass aside and took a look, just as the person turned her head. The familiar face startled Yu Huan.

Zhang Ni!

She quickly hid, but made a noise.

‘Who’s there?’ Zhang Ni, alert, grabbed her weapon and stepped closer.

This was another mistake. In the original story, the female lead and the female supporting actress had never met, but in real life, this was already the second time they had met.

The system urged Yu Huan to run.

Yu Huan didn’t dare move, her eyes brimming with tears: ‘What if she thinks I’m a zombie and kills me?’

‘You are a zombie,’ the system said, exasperated.

‘Then she’ll kill me even more!’ Yu Huan was angry.

It seemed that there was some truth in what she said.

As the man and the system were arguing, the grass covering them was suddenly stepped on, and the tip of a cold knife was pointed at her.She looked down the arm to the other person’s face—Zhang Ni looked at her in shock.

She quickly put the knife away, and before Yu Huan could move, she covered her mouth and dragged her, kicking and shoving, to a safer place further back.

‘Why are you here?’

“I thought… I thought something had happened to you, it scared me to death.”

The little zombie sat on the ground, looking up at her in alarm. Her black hair fell down to her ears, revealing a confused expression. After seeing her face, she relaxed a little, and there was more innocent trust in her soft eyes.

She was beautiful and fragile, yet innocent.

Zhang Ni took a breath.

She knew that, in the end times, it was not possible to take risks with human life. A face like that sometimes brought danger, not benefits.

She knew that the little zombie wouldn’t bite, and she wanted to protect it from harm.

But taking the little zombie into the city was not a good idea. The guards at the city gates were not there for show, and she was not Lu Mingzhang.

She also didn’t want to tell the other teammates about the little zombie because she wasn’t sure how they would react, especially since the fiancée of the big guy in charge of mental health had most likely been killed by a zombie, and if the little zombie got involved because of that, it would be trouble.

‘Do you have somewhere to go?’ she asked Yu Huan.

After thinking for a while, Yu Huan pointed in the direction of B City.

It was fine to go with them, at least she could safely take her there.Zhang Ni had an idea and took out some milk and bread from her space to feed the little zombie.

Shan Que poked his furry head out and called out to her, ‘Zhang NI sister, is there anything unusual? Why haven’t you come back yet?’

‘I’m coming!’ Zhang NI hurriedly answered, petted Yu Huan’s head, and finally said, ‘I’ll drive for a while, then stop and wait for you.’

There weren’t many vehicles on the flat, clear road, except for a slightly strange truck that was stopping and starting.

Shan Que yelled out, ‘Zhang NI sister, is the car broken?’ at the same time as the others looked over.

‘No. I accidentally hit the brakes just now,’ Zhang NI explained, looking a bit annoyed.

‘Why don’t I try and take over for you, otherwise you’ll get too tired,’ Lin Qi offered.

‘No, no, you have little driving experience. I’ll just take a sip of water and rest,’ Zhang NI said, distracted by the little zombie in the back.

Shan Que jumped out of the car, followed by Sang Man.

The two brothers had always done everything together.

‘Hey!’ Zhang Ni was startled, afraid that they would run into the little zombie, and wanted to follow them down.

But at that moment, Sheng Lang looked over, as if she was suspicious of something, and didn’t dare to move.

After all, they were outside, and they would feel embarrassed if there were no one else around, so the brothers deliberately walked away.

Then, they found a little zombie with a dirty face.

Yu Huan was seen, but for no clear reason.

The twin brothers looked very similar and also dressed similarly: white shirts with iris embroidery and blue and black jeans, which made them look clean and fresh.

Shan Que was the livelier of the two, puffing up his cheeks to blow out a breath, causing the stray hairs on his forehead to sway a little. Sang Man was quiet, with calm eyebrows and eyes, and remained composed no matter what.

Shan Que called out, quickly zipping up his jacket.’Someone there?’

Sang Man poked his head out and glanced at Yu Huan, whispering, ‘Zombie.’

‘She’s so cute,’ Shan Que said, taking two steps forward. ‘How can she be a zombie?’

The little zombie was originally sitting in the weeds, and when she was discovered, she panicked and hid back. Her thin white wrists supported her as she stood up, and her round eyes were as delicate and pretty as almonds.

She was too slow, and Shan Que wanted to help her, but he thought that would probably scare her.

As he got closer, the little zombie’s eyes opened wider, looking alert and wary, but her face was soft and doughy-looking, and she didn’t look at all menacing.

This made him wonder if she would bite.

‘Brother, can you bear to hit her?’Shan Que was so touched that he turned to look at his brother.

Sang Man stared at the little zombie for a moment and then said nothing, which meant he approved of his brother’s actions.

‘I won’t hit you if you don’t hit me,’ Shan Que said, squatting down, because he was afraid of getting his hands dirty if he touched the ground directly. He muttered to himself, pressing his toes against the ground, ‘You’re so cute, and the zombie still bit you.’

He was also curious and asked, ‘Do you bite people?’

Yu Huan: …

When Yu Huan was discovered, she was still saying, ‘It’s all over.’But she didn’t know that she had met two teenagers who were really like children. They could see that she was too weak, so they didn’t bully her. In fact, they wanted to play with her.

The little zombie looked at them and slowly shook his head.

Shan Que shook his head and said, ‘You have to hide well. No one else is as kind as we are. I’ll tell you, our driver Zhang NI sister is awesome, one zombie with one knife.’

Sang Man nodded to show he agreed.

Before they could say anything else, Zhang Ni could no longer hold back and called out, ‘Shan Que, Sang Man! What are you doing?’

‘I’m on my way!’

Shan Que answered, not looking very happy about being dragged into the car.

Zhang Ni looked at them.

The two little brats pretended not to care and even asked her for food: ‘Sister, give us something to eat, we’re hungry.’

Zhang Ni wondered suspiciously if they had complained that they were full before they left. She took some food out of the space.

Shan Que took two chocolates, and Sang Man took a jar of cookies.

As soon as the truck started moving, the chocolates and cookies flew out together.
