Chapter 24: Chapter 3:Lost in Time
The industrial zone stretched before them in eerie silence.
Once a bustling district filled with factories and warehouses, it was now a ghost town—rusted structures, shattered windows, and the distant creak of metal in the wind.
Liza clicked her tongue. "This place gives me a bad feeling."
Noah sniffed the air, his brows furrowing. "There's something here. The scent is old but… wrong."
Ivan adjusted his glasses. "We should be careful. People vanished here without a trace. If it's wraith activity, we can't afford to be reckless."
They moved forward cautiously, their steps echoing through the empty streets.
Then, the air shifted.
A strange pressure settled over them, like the world itself had taken a breath and refused to exhale.
The rusted streetlights flickered. The ground trembled.
Then—
Everything changed.
The sky above darkened instantly, the sun swallowed by thick smoke.
The abandoned sector was gone.
In its place—a battlefield.
A ruined city stretched before them, swallowed by war.
Distant battle cries echoed through the air, mixing with the crumbling of collapsing buildings and the chilling screeches of inhuman creatures.
Ivan's stomach dropped.
This wasn't real.
This wasn't the industrial zone anymore.
Memory Fragment – The Realization
Liza's breath hitched. "What the hell just happened?!"
Noah spun, his claws flexing. "The entire area changed. I can't smell the industrial zone anymore—it's like it never existed."
Ivan's mind raced. Then, he remembered something.
An old exorcist memo he once read.
Memory Fragment Memo: Three Signs of a False Reality
1. The Sky Never Changes.
He looked up.
Thick, unmoving smoke.
No sun, no clouds, no movement.
Time was frozen.
His pulse quickened. First sign… confirmed.
2. The World Loops.
Ivan turned toward a ruined building in the distance.
At first, it stood as a broken husk of stone and debris.
Then—it collapsed.
A thunderous crash—
BOOM!
The structure crumbled to dust, shaking the ground beneath them.
Liza flinched. "What the hell—?!"
But Ivan wasn't looking at the destruction.
He was watching what happened next.
Slowly—the dust swirled backward.
Stone reformed. Walls reconstructed.
In mere seconds, the building was standing again—exactly as before.
Ivan's stomach dropped.
The second sign… confirmed.
His breath came out tight. "I know where we are."
Liza and Noah turned to him.
"We're inside a memory fragment."
A heavy silence fell.
Liza frowned. "A memory fragment? You're sure?"
Ivan nodded. "Yes. We're not in the industrial zone anymore. We're inside a demon's memory—trapped in a moment from its past."
Noah's voice was low. "Then this thing… it's the memory of the demon we're hunting?"
Ivan exhaled. "Most likely."
Then A low growl rumbled through the battlefield.
The massive creature slowly turned its head.
Its burning eyes locked onto them.
Noah stiffened. "It knows we're here."
Liza unsheathed her daggers. "Then I guess we're fighting our way out."
Ivan's grip tightened on his weapon. "No. This isn't a normal fight. We need to find a way to escape—without dying."
The creature let out a deep, monstrous snarl.
THUD.
THUD.
It took a single step forward. The entire battlefield shook.
Liza exhaled. "Well… that's gonna be a problem."
The beast roared.
The world quaked.
And the battle began.
To Be Continued…
