The creepy Night.

Chapter 14: The Mirror.

Chapter 14 –

The night was cold, the air heavy with the scent of rain-soaked asphalt. Subey sat in her dimly lit apartment, staring at the mirror across the room. Her reflection looked back at her, but tonight, it felt different—like someone else was watching from the other side.

Caroline's voice echoed in her head. "You promised you'd protect me, Subey. You knew what he was capable of."

Subey clenched her fists, trying to drown out the guilt that clung to her like a second skin. She had hidden the truth, buried it deep beneath layers of lies, but the past had a way of clawing its way back.

A sudden knock on the door jolted her back to reality. She hesitated before reaching for the handle. The moment she opened it, a cold gust of wind rushed in. Standing there was a figure she never expected to see—Mia.

Her sister.

Mia's eyes, filled with an eerie calmness, locked onto hers. "We need to talk," she said, stepping inside without waiting for an invitation.

Subey shut the door, her pulse quickening. "You should be dead," she whispered, barely able to believe her own words.

Mia let out a dark chuckle. "And yet, here I am."

Silence stretched between them. Then Mia pulled out a folded piece of paper from her pocket and placed it on the table. "John wasn't working alone," she murmured.

Subey's breath hitched. "What do you mean?"

Mia leaned in, her voice a whisper. "Someone else wanted Caroline dead. And now, they're coming for you."

The weight of her words sent a chill down Subey's spine. She grabbed the paper with trembling fingers and unfolded it. Inside was a single sentence, scrawled in red ink.

You can't hide the truth forever.

A sudden crash came from the mirror behind them. Subey turned sharply, her heart hammering against her ribs. The glass cracked in the center, forming a jagged web of fractures. And for a split second, in the reflection, she swore she saw Caroline staring back at her—eyes filled with rage.

Caroline was gone.

But her ghost was not.
