The creepy Night.

Chapter 10: The Betrayal.

Chapter 10

The rain lashed against the windows of Caroline's office as she stared at the man before her. John. Not john at least, that's what he claimed. But the moment she looked into his eyes, she knew. He had changed, but the ghost of the man they had lost still lingered beneath the surface.

Subey was frozen, her breath shallow. "How…?" she whispered. "How are you still alive?"

John glanced at Caroline, then back at Subey. "Because Mia never intended to kill me."

A heavy silence fell over the room.

Caroline's pulse quickened. "Then what was the plan?"

John exhaled, shaking his head. "I don't know all of it yet, but I know this—Mia's accident wasn't an accident. It was staged."

Subey took a step back. "What…?"

John's gaze was steady. "The car crash. The night everything changed. It was all planned. And Mia wasn't the victim."

Caroline's mind raced. "Then who was?"

John swallowed. "Me."

Subey gasped. "No. That can't be."

John pulled a crumpled photograph from his pocket and slid it across the desk. It was old, edges torn, but the image was clear—Mia standing beside a man, their hands intertwined.

"That's…" Subey's voice broke.

John nodded. "Mia was never alone. She had someone else. Someone powerful. And together, they set everything in motion." He looked straight at Caroline. "The real reason she's back? It's not revenge. It's to finish what they started."

Caroline picked up the photo, her fingers trembling. "Who is he?"

John hesitated, then said the name.

And the world tilted.

Subey collapsed into the chair, her face pale. "No. No, that's impossible."

Caroline couldn't breathe. Couldn't think.

Because the name John had just spoken…

Was her own father's.

The room fell into absolute silence.

Subey looked at Caroline with wide eyes, searching for an answer. "Tell me this isn't true."

Caroline wanted to deny it. Wanted to say it was all a lie. But deep down, something in her had always felt… off.

John's voice was calm, but final. "Your father and Mia? They planned it together. And now, they're coming for all of us."

And then—

A gunshot.

The window shattered.

John lunged forward, knocking both Caroline and Subey to the ground as the bullet embedded itself into the wall behind them.

Outside, in the pouring rain, a figure stood watching. A shadow with piercing, familiar eyes.

Mia.

She smiled.

The game wasn't over.

It was only just beginning.
