Chapter 2: RETURN WITH THE SYSTEM
The man could barely recognise what he had been there for. Even as he was going through the torment, he was only saying one name through every punishment and he realised that he had forgotten everything. He had no knowledge of his own name and he dared to wonder if perchance Pedro Picasso was his name.
Somehow, the thought of that was weird as he seemed to loathe the name even as he was in agony. The flesh eating demon was consuming him and right now he was a chained dangling flesh with nothing after his waistline. Just torso, head and his hands. The pain was also there to remind him that he was suffering but he did not want to give up.
What was it about him that kept him going? Many others would have gone crazy from the pain and anguish from this place, the smell of burning flesh and the screams from a thousand souls in agony. Yet, he remained there, muttering that one name that seemed to be the only thing keeping him sane there. How long he had been there, he had forgotten. But this was the place for eternal damnation and he sure as hell deserved to be here.
Suddenly, there was a familiar whoosh of wind and he found himself in front of twin large doors. He was bare as a new born babe but his modesty was not something that he could think about. It was the fact that he was whole again and he was in no more pain.
"Approach." A familiar voice said to him and he started walking forward. He pushed the doors open and then entered a magnificent abode.
It was a castle in the very depth of hell itself. But it was empty. Somehow, this feeling was also familiar. The aspect of coming into an empty big space.
However, he kept moving forward until he came to a very large throne. There was nobody on the seat which felt weird. Who called for him then?
"Sad, you have forgotten but in due course, you shall remember." A voice said and suddenly, a cloud of smoke started spiraling until there sat a magnificent creature on the throne.
The man blinked. He would never have believed that such a beautiful creature would be in a place like this. It was in the likeness of a man but very tall and his eyes were made of gold. He was more or less like an angel in this space.
"Who are you?" He managed to ask him.
"You know, I find you interesting. A lot of others would fall to their knees instantly and tremble but there you stand, a head taller than last I saw you." The beautiful angel said.
"I'm sorry. I don't know if this is weird, have we met before?" The man asked him.
"Well, not technically but you sure do recognise my voice. We have been in vocal contact before. Perhaps I should tell you my name, I am Lucifer." He said to him,
Lucifer, the name echoed through his mind as he was struggling to remember. He knew it was important but he somehow could not go back in time as the pains of his torments from the demon ranged through his mind.
"I can't remember anything. Please, can you help me?" He asked.
"Help you? I am already helping you. And now, I'm here to fulfill my promise to you. You would be returning to earth as you have always wanted and then, I shall collect on our deal." He said to him,
"Deal?" He muttered under his breath.
Suddenly, Lucifer appeared in front of him.
"Perhaps, I should show you." He said and then pressed his thumb against his forehead.
There was a flash of two memories as he saw himself lying in a place in pain as he made a prayer and then there was another memory of him making the deal with the devil. When he was about to think further, Lucifer pulled away his hand leaving him with just two memories.
"Wait! I don't remember everything." He said to him,
"Well, you have in your memory the two most important moments. As for the rest of your memories, you would have to figure them out yourself." Lucifer said with a snicker.
Perhaps it was necessary to point out the fact that the devil was as cunning as always. He had every intention to render his own part of the deal but then, he had to make it a game. He enjoyed games. Toying with unsuspecting humans who were in a hurry to make deals with him.
Little wonder why everyone decided to make prayers to his father instead.
"Can you at least tell me why I wanted to go back to earth? And who is Pedro Picasso?" The man asked him.
"You'll figure it all out on your return. But you should know that you have a limited time there. I shall help you with your revenge the best way that I can, but I never asked you to forget who you were. That's totally on you and I'm certain you will remember if you work hard." Lucifer said to me.
"Fine but please tell me this one thing. Is Pedro Picasso my name?" The man demanded.
He was daring and perhaps the devil himself was beginning to gain compassion.
"No. Now, are you ready?" He asked the man.
There was no point arguing any further. At least, he knew that the name he had been muttering was not his own name but he also knew it was important. His mind was made up as he was going to find out everything he needed when he returned to earth.
"How much time do I have?" The man asked him.
"I shall come for you on the sixth day of the sixth month after your return to earth and by the sixth hour. I suggest you take a record of what day you arrive because there would be no mercy." He said to him,
"Fine. Then I am ready. Send me back." The man said.
Lucifer smiled at him and then held out his palm. Tentatively, the man placed his hand on the open palm as Lucifer covered it.
"This would hurt." Lucifer said and barely after he had said that, suddenly, there was a light and then severe pain.
But the man would not flinch. He remained still because he was already used to pain and this was nothing. Try spending eternity with flesh eating demons and then it might change how one's view towards pain is.
Soon, Lucifer let go of his hand and he noticed that there was something moving inside of it.
He was about to ask what that was when a screen appeared in front of him.
[Activating Hell Villian System version 66.06]
What in the name of hell was this?
[System updating in 3....2....1.... Upgrade complete. To set mission earth please confirm with either yes/no]
"What is this?" The man asked, looking at Lucifer.
"My end of the bargain. This should help you. I think you should get going." He said to the man.
"Thanks, I guess. Although I really wish I knew my name." The man said.
"You'll find out in due course if you're smart." Lucifer said and suddenly, he vanished.
The man stared at the screen in front of him. And then pushed tapped on the option.
[Mission earth confirmed. Transportation in 3....2....1]
And suddenly without warning, he was pulled by an invincible force until suddenly he found himself falling. No, he was ascending and he shut his eyes. Suddenly, he landed on a really hard surface with so much force.
[Mission earth transportation completed. To select items from inventory, please tap the right button]
Choosing items was not his problem right now as he suddenly rose up and then doubled over retching. When he tried throwing up, only smoke came out.
Now he looked around him. He was in a sparse yet bare land. Not a single sign of a human in sight.
He thought perhaps if he found himself where people were, it might help. So, he clicked on the inventory.
[Inventory empty. To boost inventory, send souls to hell]
Well, it clearly wanted him to kill and that he definitely would.
He started walking down the path, no idea where he was going but a single goal on his mind. He was going to find this Pedro Picasso and see what information he might be able to spool about his own identity.
He was beginning to grow really tired as his legs felt really heavy and there was pain which he did not mind as he walked the hard surface barefooted. He wanted to drink something, a feeling he never satiated in hell.
Just then, he started hearing something behind him and he looked to find a vehicle approaching.
He stood to the side and then the driver of the truck came to stop beside him, a young lady in front.
"Ah, mate. Bandits got your clothes or something?" He asked the man who stared blankly at him.
"You are one gorgeous hunk to be deaf." The young lady said to him, her eyes raking him over.
"How far to where people stay?" The man demanded.
"Glad, he's not deaf." The lady said.
"Stop it, Samantha. You're really far from people, I can tell you and besides, with your birthday suit on, ain't nobody going to speak to you. How about you get inside and I'll take you to my home. Then you may rest and find people?" The friendly farmer asked.
The man decided to take this opportunity and somehow he remembered how to open the back door and got in. In fact, it felt he had opened lots of better doors.
As he entered, the young lady suddenly turned to look at him, seduction all over her face.
"You're gorgeous." She said,
"Stop being a whore, Samantha." The farmer responded. "Please, don't mind my daughter. She plays a lot. By the way, my name is Gideon. What's yours?"
