These are also the foundations upon which mathematicians were able to tackle N-body problems. And it's a problem well worth studying, as most situations in the universe involve N-body problems where N is far greater than three.
Like the Solar System, for instance.
The Solar System is a standard N-body problem.
Eight major planets revolve around the sun, and countless moons around those planets, together forming the star system that gave birth to Earth's civilization.
More importantly, even though it's known to be a complex N-body problem, scientists have been able to calculate the orbits of the eight main planets, and can roughly predict the positions of certain planets within a future period, even allowing them to anticipate certain astronomical events, such as a solar eclipse.
This is because, although there is no analytical solution for N-body motion in mathematics yet, approximate solutions have been calculated. In some special cases, stable periodic solutions can even be determined.
So the current problem is that humans still can't predict the long-term changes in the Solar System. For example, nobody can calculate the positions of the planets in the Solar System after ten thousand years at a specific time. The longer the time calculated using approximate solutions, the greater the error.
More importantly, to this day, it has not been possible in mathematics to prove that a chaotic N-body system like the Solar System is stable. In other words, according to current mathematical theory, such systems could collapse at any time, extra planets could be ejected, ultimately simplifying into the simplest and most stable two-body system.
