Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 625 Daybreak

Lin Shen and his companions immediately broke out in a cold sweat, as the immense pressure of the golden claws pressed their suspended bodies down to the ground.

This was just the pressure alone, if they were to actually be touched by the golden claws, they would likely be crushed to pieces instantaneously.

Brilliant flames like the proud sun emerged upon the golden claws, and upon contact with the glow of the bow, scarf, and command token, they crackled loudly. The golden claws, as if catching fire, continued to press down.

Lin Shen was terrified to the extreme, his body pinned down, nearly prostrate on the ground.

The bow in his hand suddenly shone brightly, with rays of cold light shooting out like a thousand arrows in all directions.

Wherever the cold light reached, the gigantic golden claws were immediately pierced through, and with a scream, they retracted swiftly.

In the surrounding area touched by the cold light, bursts of radiant brilliance flared up among ongoing screams, as the dark and dreadful creatures seemed to be retreating one after another.

Lin Shen was both shocked and delighted, having not expected the bow to be so powerful. The chilly brilliance from the bow shone on them without harm, but those dark existences were injured by the cold light, and for the moment, no terrifying creature dared to approach them any longer.

Yet the trio could feel that those strange beings had not left, but were still lurking nearby, staring at them as if they were a throng of hungry ghosts eyeing three pieces of pastry on a plate.

"Say something, or I'm going to lose my mind," Lin Shen said, his gaze fixed on the darkness, though he saw nothing.

"Whatever is in this darkness, I'm afraid it's not as simple as Nirvana Level," Ouyang Yudu said.

"Nirvana Level doesn't carry such vast presence." Lin Shen was aware of this too and swallowed hard, his voice trembling as he said, "If these creatures are all Undying... then this planet..."

Lin Shen didn't finish, but Ouyang Yudu and Wei Wufu understood his implication. Ouyang Yudu remarked with a wry smile, "This place might contain a piece of Immortal Land, giving birth to countless Undying Creatures. If that's the case, we can only be thankful that these Undying Creatures haven't been able to break free."

Lin Shen understood what Ouyang Yudu meant; they had come here from Gourd Mountain, and if these creatures were to break through from Gourd Mountain, the first to suffer would naturally be the Human Mother Planet.

Ouyang Yudu, however, didn't spell it out, fearing that those dreadful beings might overhear.

"If I had known these things were so useful, I should have taken more when we visited those temples during the day," Lin Shen mused.

Latter, they also found other items in the Temple, but they didn't dare to take more at the time.

"If we had taken them then, the force that acted just now might not have been limited to a single claw," Ouyang Yudu said.

"Are you suggesting that the claw was a Golden Crow Claw?" Lin Shen asked, understanding his meaning.

"Only temples from which we've taken items appear to have something watching us from the shadows. If what acted just now wasn't the Golden Crow, I really can't think of any other reasonable explanation," Ouyang Yudu replied.

"That means the temples from which we've taken items are targeting us more? Then why did the Dark Bird Temple's beings not make a move?" Lin Shen inquired.

"I don't know," Ouyang Yudu admitted, unable to ascertain the reason.

The three fell back into silence, and Lin Shen suddenly had an idea and spoke up again, "If we now head in the direction of the setting sun, catching up with it, wouldn't we be able to avoid facing these horrific creatures?"

"Is there a possibility that it's not the real sun?" Ouyang Yudu said.

"Not the sun? Then what is it?" A startled Lin Shen asked upon hearing this.

"Have you forgotten the legend of Hou Yi shooting the sun?" Ouyang Yudu inhaled deeply and said.

"You just said that the Golden Crow attacked us. If the Golden Crow attacked us, how could it be illuminating this planet?" Lin Shen felt that what Ouyang Yudu was saying was somewhat contradictory.

"I just mean to say that on this planet, anything is possible. Perhaps the sun here isn't the real sun, but some kind of special creature," Ouyang Yudu continued, "After all, there's no moon and we can't see the stars here. Why is there a sun? Moreover, when the sun set just now, I saw the light of the sun disappear all at once. Normally, even if the sun sets, there would still be twilight for a while, not utter darkness all of a sudden."

"You make a good point," Lin Shen pondered and said, "This planet is indeed strange. If there really is an Immortal Land here, it's a tremendous discovery. Perhaps we can use the power of the Immortal Land for Nirvana."

"You might be able to, but Old Wei and I can't do such a thing; it would turn us non-human," said Ouyang Yudu with a smile.

"I was just speculating, don't take it so seriously!" Lin Shen smiled helplessly.

Nirvana Land was already perilous in many ways, one wrong move could lead to the loss of one's personality, becoming a non-human without self-awareness.

Using the Immortal Land for Nirvana almost guaranteed transformation into non-humans. The power of the Immortal Land was too terrifying; Ascenders simply couldn't withstand it.

Even the mighty Supreme Clan could only modify Nirvana Land for use; those Immortal Lands were too dangerous for anyone to dare use.

The conversation was said to involve three people, but in reality, it was mostly Ouyang Yudu and Lin Shen talking, with Wei Wufu at most uttering a sound of agreement or saying 'yes', merely providing a sense of participation.

Lin Shen and Ouyang Yudu had long been accustomed to this. The three of them talked intermittently, not knowing when this cursed place would finally see an end to the night.

Twenty-four universal hours passed with no sign of light in the sky. After several more hours, the sky suddenly brightened, and a sun leaped out from the distant space.

Everything around them lit up all at once, but Lin Shen and his companions didn't see the terrifying creatures they had imagined. Within ten thousand miles, there wasn't even a shadow, let alone any monstrous beings.

"That's not right... Why would the sun rise from there..." Lin Shen said, staring intently at the sun, "I remember the sun set on that side, didn't it? I'm not mistaken, am I?"

"No, you're not wrong. The sun did set on that side," Ouyang Yudu said.

"Yes," Wufu's response was even more succinct.

"It seems Ouyang was right; that sun might indeed not be the sun." Lin Shen felt it was odd to say this, so he quickly added, "Could it really be the Golden Crow? I wonder if this bow in my hands could shoot it down."

"Shoot it down? Do you like being surrounded by those terrifying beings?" Ouyang Yudu said.

"Like... surrounded..." Wufu echoed the words.

"Ahem, I was just thinking out loud. Let's hurry up and look for the teleporter," Lin Shen, realizing the folly of his words, quickly changed the subject.
