Chapter 296: ending the fight
Silva activated Flash Step, using maximum speed at the right moment when the creature could not stop its attack. He lived behind the creature, and with a step, a spin, and a slash, a beautiful line drew across the back of the creature, following the sword.
Boom! The sound of an explosion echoed after the slash made contact. Infused with his will, the attack was extremely destructive.
The creature shot through the air, black smoke spilling from its back rather than blood. It crashed into a building, completely demolishing it to the ground.
Silva stood, watching the creature on the ground. He knew it was far from dead, so he didn't want to drop his guard.
And like he expected, it was still very much alive and kicking. It got up but didn't attack this time; its eyes were pinned on Silva.
It let out a roar, and its arms erupted in dark purple flames. The creature went down into some sort of animal pose, with all limbs on the ground.
Boom! It shot toward Silva at a faster speed than before. Before it even got to Silva, it started slashing, firing flaming claws at him.
Silva blocked with his sword, but after blocking two, the creature was already in his face with a very powerful kick ready to land.
Silva pulled back and dodged it, but he wasn't in the clear yet. The creature charged in closer, going for his head with all four arms.
"That's not happening," Silva said, and tendrils shot out of the ground, grabbing the creature and buying Silva half a second because the creature rolled out of it immediately.
But that had been enough time for Silva to do what he needed to. He used Flash Step to go farther back and then pointed his sword at the creature, firing a thick stream of abyssal flames.
The flames hit the creature straight in the chest and pushed it back several feet, but after the initial pushback, the creature started stepping forward, pushing against the flames.
"I guess its resistance is high. I should have known, seeing it can use the flames as well," Silva said, but he kept the flames pouring until the creature pushed and came close. Then Silva suddenly stopped the flames.
The sudden stop stunned the creature for a bit, and Silva attacked. He slashed across the shoulder; the blade dug into the creature deeply.
This enraged the creature even more, but Silva had already retreated and put distance between them. He held his sword, then activated Will Field.
The creature was immediately caught in the field. Silva began releasing a barrage of attacks from a distance, each one hitting its target.
The creature started jumping around, trying to dodge, but it was unable to escape the attacks. Seeing it could not escape, it decided to attack the source, charging at Silva while withstanding the attacks.
But Silva was not done with the creature yet. He had something in store for it. Tendrils, more than twenty of them, shot out of the ground and latched onto the creature, pulling it down quickly and managing to bring it to the ground.
That was all Silva needed. He set one of his legs to the back and held his sword. Abyssal flames covered the sword, and then he compressed it. The flames grew again, and he compressed them.
He kept compressing layer after layer until the creature finally broke free and attacked Silva. Silva moved; he slashed in a simple line, firing the compressed flames.
Immediately the flames left the sword, things began exploding and melting instantly due to the heat. The ground exploded open as the flame arc traveled.
The creature could not dodge the attack that was already so close-range. It tried to move but couldn't escape it all, and its two left arms were cut off.
Even with its resistance to flames, there was no way it could withstand the flames that Silva shot out. It was extremely hot, like a compressed sun.
The flame arc continued after hitting the creature, destroying houses meters away before coming to a stop and dissipating.
"This was a good fight, I'll be honest, but I didn't even give twenty percent. I thought you would draw out more of me after such an entrance.
Regardless, you are very strong, and I acknowledge that fact. So I'll still need you as a summon. According to the agreement, when I win, you'll become my summon. Hopefully, the process heals you, or I'll have to find another way," Silva said and started walking toward the creature.
The creature still seemed reluctant to yield to Silva. It growled and bared its teeth, but Silva couldn't be bothered.
"You are heavily injured, so unless you want to somehow use another powerful transformation and fight, there's really nothing you can do right now," Silva said with a smirk.

"After all, I haven't even gone all out against you," he added, then used a skill he hadn't used in a while—Intimidation, something he had as a dragon, and it worked when looking at weaker prey.
He stared at the creature, and his eyes glowed. The creature shifted back a little when it saw Silva's eyes.
"What do you say?" Silva stretched out his hands but felt something was not right, and yes, he was right.
The creature leaped up suddenly, flipped in the air, and sent a kick covered in flames toward Silva's head. Silva pulled his head back at the last moment and dodged the kick.
He stretched out his hands, grabbed the creature by the same leg, and threw it into the ground with so much force that a small crater formed.
Boom!
The creature bounced up after hitting the floor, but Silva was far from done with it. He grabbed it again, and like a ragdoll, started hitting it from side to side to side.
"You little piece of crap," Silva roared as he hit it for the last time.
