Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Xavier’s School
[3rd POV]
As the Blackbird lowered to the hidden basement of the Mansion, Gwen got to her feet as it landed. The girls followed soon after her as she stretched with a yawn of boredom.
"So this is the mansion? It's not bad, although the security is a bit underwhelming" Gwen said as her eyes traveled over the mansion, scanning it in and out, memorizing every face within it, every inch of the mansion itself, and all of its security.
"You can even see that?" Hank asked in surprise, which was becoming the norm when Gwen was involved.
"Yep. You guys are using security cameras, motion detectors, and some other stuff, but none of that would do anything to the Brotherhood or a skilled enough Government Organization, like the Pirate and his band of corrupt idiots" Gwen responded before continuing.
"I could help you upgrade it, if you want. I've already got a dozen ways to make this place truly safe for all those kids upstairs" Gwen added, as Hank looked interested.
"That sounds...ideal. But we would need to speak with our resident engineer and inventor" Hank replied, as he inwardly envisioned the reaction of their resident inventor, to the fact that some 18 year old girl could improve upon the security that he had made for them. The man was quite proud of them, even if they were admittedly underwhelming.
Walking through the small hanger alongside the team, Artemis couldn't help but ask a rather valid question "How long did it take you guys to build this place? And where the hell do you get the money for all of this?"
"It took a few years, as for the funding, we had gotten it from investors, and because the Professor has quite a bit put away, which he used a lot of to build all of this" Hank answered Artemis, who nodded slowly at the response.
"Are you interested in attending the school, Gwen? As while you already said you don't wish to be a part of the team, you could be a part of the school" Ororo asked as they walked through the sleek halls of the underground basement of the Mansion. This was where Cerebro was held, as well as various other pieces of technology, like the training area for the X-Men.
"Hmm? No offense to any of you, but I'm by far the smartest and most knowledgeable person in this room. Going to school would simply be a huge waste of time to me. I'd be better at teaching classes then attending them" Gwen responded with a shake of her head, not even remotely interested in going back to school again.
Teaching though, didn't sound too awful. As while she didn't really like or trust Xavier, she didn't mind teaching a bunch of Mutant kids more about their powers, and the world at large. She was already going to be teaching certain people that needed it, like Jean.
"And how smart are you then?" Jean asked as she walked beside her.
"Well my intelligence can't be quantified in numeric standards, if that's what you're asking. But I guess if you compare me to the most powerful supercomputer you can possibly imagine, it would be like comparing a windows computer from the 90's, to a quantum supercomputer. Or maybe something beyond that? Not really sure. But I'm the smartest person in the world, if not the universe" Gwen replied with a shrug.
"Truly? What sort of power do you have to give you so many varying abilities?" Hank asked as they walked towards the elevator that would take them to the main mansion, where all the students stayed.
"That is a secret" Gwen replied with a grin as they walked into the large elevator, standing all near one another.
"Would you be interested in such a job? Being a teacher at my school?" Xavier asked, having been silently listening to Gwen the entire time.
"What would my salary be?" Gwen asked in response, an amused smirk forming on her face as the man let out a small laugh.
"Enough, as it is for all of my teachers" Xavier responded. Even though none of them wanted it, he did pay his teachers quite a good amount for a teacher, more than enough to live comfortably. Gwen had seemed slightly surprised with the response, before humming.
"I'll have to think about it" Gwen replied, as she genuinely could see the boons in working as a teacher, besides the fact that it could be fun, it would also allow her to study more about Mutant DNA and how it works exactly, and with that, she could potentially use that to make Artemis and Korra stronger, both of them needing it quite a lot due to simply being humans (albeit with bending).
"Good, now, how about Jean gives you a tour of the school?" Xavier asked as Gwen nodded, fine with the idea. She already knew the place inside and out, but it wouldn't hurt. Plus there was someone in the school she wanted to meet that was somewhere inside.
Walking out of the elevator, the group walked around a few corners before entering the main "Entrance" of the school, where students were walking to and from various rooms, running about as they didn't have school on that day.
"I'll leave the rest to you, Jean. The teachers and I have some things to speak about" Xavier said, giving Jean a nod before rolling off, the teachers following after him, but not without giving Gwen one final look.
'This oughta be fun' Gwen thought with an amused smile as she walked behind Jean, ready for the tour the girl was about to give her.

Turns out the mansion was a lot bigger than it looked, and housed a lot more students as well. Well over a hundred in fact, many of them with all sorts of unique appearances and powers, which simply got a smile from Gwen.
It was around 30 minutes into the rather long tour when Gwen had met the one she was so very interested in running across. A girl who had a power that was VERY dangerous, and one that could put her in the same power levels as even Jean, should she use her power in the correct way.
Walking through the halls of the mansion, Gwen listened as Jean showed off the various classrooms, and the curriculum they provided.
"This is the science class, where Professor Hank teaches" Jean pointed, only to stop as someone walked by, someone that caught Gwen's eye.
'Finally, I was wondering when I'd see her' Gwen thought, as she "Accidentally" bumped into the girl, skin brushing against the others as the girl fell onto her butt.
"Sorry, I didn't see you there" Gwen said with a smile, as she leaned down and pulled the girl up, gripping her bare hand, a glove fallen to the floor from the "Fall".
Jean's eyes went wide as the girl let out a soft gasp, her hand still in Gwen's as she spoke.
"H-How? How can you touch me?" The girl asked. The girl known as Anna Marie, otherwise known as...Rogue.
"Am I not supposed to be able to?" Gwen asked with a raised eyebrow as Rogue kept her hand on Gwen's, looking at it as she touched and played with it, which was a little weird, but Gwen understood why.
"Gwen..." Jean muttered in shock as Rogue looked like she was about to break out in tears.
On Gwen's end, she could feel the power trying to absorb her lifeforce, memories, and powers, but it failed miserably. She had so many defenses and adaption based abilities, that the second it started, it was blocked and adapted to, completely eliminating the threat of Rogue's power, and making her the only person that could safely touch her at this point.
"My-My power kills people from my touch" Rogue whispered at the question, pulling her hand back slowly in awe.
"That...I'm sorry that you've had to deal with that" Gwen said softly, as she truly did feel bad for the girl. Rogue was one of her favorite members of the X-Men (Excluding that awful storyline involving Magneto, if you know, you know).
Looking at the girl who slowly pulled a glove back onto her hand, Gwen smiled as she got an idea, before slowly speaking.
"Say, do you want to come with us?"

That's the end of the chapter!
A bit of an abrupt end but...I didn't really know where to end it lol.
Next chapter will be more interactions with Rogue, Gwen starting the quest she had been assigned (Clones = Easy mode) and some other stuff.
Should Gwen be a part time teacher for the school? I thought it'd be a neat idea and could be fun.
I'll say now that Xavier in this, while misguided, is NOT evil, just a little dumb. Gwen won't hate him or anything (not like her dislike for Ozpin due to his tendency to sacrifice children), but she won't be friends with him.
You can expect some interactions with some rather important characters, and a visit to New York sooner or later, which will involve an interaction with a very important character (to this book), and one that had a VERY sad background in the comics.
Anyways, have a good day!
