Soul Land:The Dragon King's God of Nature

Chapter 137: Chapter 137: The Final Exam of the Zero Class!

Wu Zhangkong returned to the Zero Class classroom.

"You're back," he said, his gaze landing on Jing Shaoyu. A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.

"Yes, Teacher Wu," Jing Shaoyu replied with a smile.

"Since you're back, we'll hold the final exam tomorrow," Wu Zhangkong said plainly. "I've already discussed this with Dean Yu Zhen. After the exam, we'll proceed to Shrek Academy for this year's admissions."

"Yay!" Excitement and joy lit up the faces of the students, especially the more lively and animated Xu Xiaoyan and Xie Xie, who cheered loudly.

"Don't celebrate too soon," Wu Zhangkong said, his tone still calm despite being secretly pleased with their reactions. His expression remained cold as he continued, "That's only if all of you pass the exam. If even one of you fails, none of you will be going."

The weight of Wu Zhangkong's words settled heavily over the group. Their expressions turned serious—if one person failed, the entire team would be held back. That was collective punishment.

"Teacher Wu!" Gu Yue raised her hand.

Seeing Gu Yue raise her hand, Tang Wulin's expression immediately darkened with frustration. He already knew what Gu Yue intended to do.

"Objection denied!" Wu Zhangkong cut her off, preempting her argument. His voice was cold as he declared, "I don't care about your personal feelings; you're still a team right now. As a team, you'll succeed or fail together."

Gu Yue pursed her lips in dissatisfaction. She seemed like she wanted to argue further, but Jing Shaoyu gently tugged her arm and shook his head. Reluctantly, she turned away.

"Jing Shaoyu, you're the team leader. I expect you to shoulder this responsibility," Wu Zhangkong said, his sharp gaze fixed on him.

"Don't worry, Teacher Wu. I'll take responsibility," Jing Shaoyu replied seriously with a firm nod.

"I trust you," Wu Zhangkong said with a faint nod. "By the way, what's your current soul power level?"

"Level 45," Jing Shaoyu replied.

This number shocked Tang Wulin and Xie Xie. They exchanged glances, each seeing the mix of urgency and resignation in the other's eyes. They were all members of Zero Class—how could the gap between them be so large?

Wu Zhangkong's eyes also flickered with a trace of surprise. He addressed the group again. "This time, the final exam is straightforward: you must survive in the riot-period ascension platform for 24 hours."

"What? Survive 24 hours in the riot-period ascension platform? That's supposed to be simple?" Xie Xie exclaimed in disbelief.

"What? It's not simple?" Wu Zhangkong turned his cold gaze toward Xie Xie. For the first time, a faint smile appeared on his face.

Seeing that smile sent chills down Xie Xie's spine. He immediately straightened up and declared loudly, "Simple! Very simple! Teacher Wu, I was out of line."

Wu Zhangkong sighed inwardly. Xie Xie used to have a cocky attitude that made these moments more entertaining, but now that he'd learned to be tactful, he was much less fun to deal with.

"Alright, that's the plan. You're dismissed to prepare. Tomorrow morning, we'll head to Eastsea's Spirit Pagoda," Wu Zhangkong said.

"Yes, Teacher!" the Zero Class students replied in unison.

As Wu Zhangkong left the room, Xie Xie pulled Tang Wulin along and walked over to Jing Shaoyu. With a mischievous grin, he said, "Leader, we'll be counting on you for this exam!"

"Of course," Jing Shaoyu replied with a smile. "After all, we're still a team."

"I won't drag us down," Tang Wulin said quietly, his handsome face tinged with determination.

Because of Jing Shaoyu's presence, Tang Wulin hadn't had the chance to showcase his natural leadership abilities. Within the Zero Class team, his role was more that of a brawler. Since his soul power level was the lowest among the group, his influence and importance were minimal. In Gu Yue's eyes, he was practically irrelevant. This left Tang Wulin deeply frustrated and lacking confidence.

"Don't mind what Gu Yue says. She doesn't mean any harm," Jing Shaoyu said, fulfilling both his role as team leader and his responsibility to maintain peace. Placing a reassuring hand on Tang Wulin's shoulder, he added with a smile, "I believe in you, Wulin."

"Thank you, Leader," Tang Wulin said, gratitude shining in his eyes.

"Wow, seriously?" Xie Xie interjected, his tone dripping with mock jealousy. "I've been encouraging you all this time, and I've never seen you this grateful. But Leader says a few words, and you're practically moved to tears. Guess that just proves companionship is worthless, huh?"

"Uh…" Tang Wulin scratched the back of his head awkwardly. Feeling guilty, he said, "Xie Xie, I'm sorry. I didn't realize I'd been ignoring you. I promise I'll pay more attention to you in the future."

"It's fine. I'm a generous guy, so I'll let it slide," Xie Xie replied with a laugh, though his eyes sparkled with genuine happiness. Slapping an arm around Tang Wulin's shoulders, he added, "You're my bro for life."

Jing Shaoyu watched their interaction with an odd feeling bubbling in his chest. Come to think of it, the Tang Godking really seemed to have a thing for bromance.

"Shaoyu, let's go!" Gu Yue called out, walking over and grabbing his hand. Her face was as impassive as ever as she began pulling him toward the door. As they passed Tang Wulin and Xie Xie, she didn't so much as glance in their direction, as if they didn't exist.

"Brother Shaoyu, wait for me!" Xu Xiaoyan called out, hurrying after them. She grabbed hold of Jing Shaoyu's other arm and playfully stuck her tongue out at Gu Yue.

"Tch." Gu Yue's displeasure was written all over her face.

With some time left before dinner, the three of them headed back to their dormitory.

In Jing Shaoyu's dorm, Xu Xiaoyan and Gu Yue were seated on his bed. Each sat at one end, staring at each other as if locked in a battle of wills. Sparks seemed to fly between them, and Jing Shaoyu wasn't surprised in the least—this had become a regular occurrence.

At first, he had tried to mediate, but after numerous failed attempts, he gave up. The two girls seemed to enjoy these silent standoffs, as they would engage in them every few days.

Most of the time, Gu Yue emerged victorious. Although Xu Xiaoyan rarely won, she refused to back down, always initiating the next battle. However, her innocent gaze was no match for Gu Yue's piercingly sharp stare, and she would often turn to Jing Shaoyu for help.

"Alright, cut it out for now," Jing Shaoyu said, breaking the tension. "How about I show you my new soul spirit?"

"Yes, yes! I want to see!" Xu Xiaoyan exclaimed, leaping up with excitement. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity and delight as she asked, "Brother Shaoyu, what kind of soul beast is it? I can't wait to see!"

Even Gu Yue looked intrigued, her cold demeanor softening slightly as she turned her attention to him.

"Anya, come on out," Jing Shaoyu said with a gentle smile. A circle of soul rings appeared behind him, and from them emerged a graceful golden unicorn. The moment it appeared, the entire dorm filled with a warm and serene light, lifting the girls' spirits.

"Wow! What a beautiful soul beast!" Xu Xiaoyan gushed, her eyes shining with admiration. The sight of the unicorn was mesmerizing, its appearance captivating her instantly. "Brother Shaoyu, is this a unicorn? It's so gorgeous!"

"You're a lovely and pure-hearted girl yourself," Anya said, her melodious voice carrying warmth. She could sense Xu Xiaoyan's sincerity and the faint trace of Jing Shaoyu's aura on her, prompting her to respond kindly.

"Ah!" Xu Xiaoyan jumped slightly in surprise, her eyes widening as she exclaimed, "Did you just talk? You can talk?"

"Anya is a Holy Unicorn and naturally possesses telepathic abilities," Jing Shaoyu explained.

"A Holy Unicorn?" Gu Yue's eyes gleamed with interest as she studied Anya. She nodded slightly to herself, noting how well the unicorn complemented Jing Shaoyu's Origin Spirit Martial Soul. She even sensed traces of divine Tianlu bloodline within Anya, hinting at her potential to evolve further.

"Brother Shaoyu, her name is Anya, right? Can I ride her?" Xu Xiaoyan asked eagerly.

"Well, you'll have to ask Anya herself," Jing Shaoyu replied, leaving the decision up to her. After all, Anya was no ordinary soul spirit.

Gu Yue remained silent, lost in thought. She was already considering what other soul beasts might be suitable to become Jing Shaoyu's next soul spirit. A fleeting image of a green figure crossed her mind.
