Shattered Destiny : Fate

Chapter 26: Professor Rushford Kael

Rushford Kael was originally the referee for Ajax and Berry's duel, but his role in Ajax's life quickly became much more significant. A prodigy in his own right, Rushford had wielded two elements—water and earth—by the age of five, a rarity comparable to Ajax's status as a Tri-Mage. As one of the most distinguished figures at Terra Academy, he was part of what gave the institution its prestige.

Ajax's performance in the auditorium earned him something far greater than recognition—it won Professor Rushford Kael's admiration. His influence was the key reason Ajax was pardoned for concealing his magical abilities.

From that moment, Rushford took Ajax under his wing.

Training under the professor was relentless, pushing Ajax to his limits. Yet, with his adaptability and determination, he kept up. Rushford frequently dueled with him, always emerging victorious—but he couldn't ignore Ajax's rapid growth. With time and effort, Ajax had the potential to become truly formidable.

To further challenge him, Rushford occasionally arranged for Ajax to spar with other promising students. Each battle was a test, pushing him beyond his limits and honing his skills.

But their bond wasn't built on combat alone. Both shared a deep love for knowledge. Hours were spent in the academy's vast library, pouring over ancient texts and magical theories. Rushford even entrusted Ajax with his personal collection, encouraging him to broaden his understanding of both magic and the world.

While Ajax's friends were committed to their own training, they sometimes joined the sessions. But for the most part, it was just Ajax and Rushford—two kindred spirits, bound by a relentless pursuit of strength and wisdom.
