Chapter 25: Revelation
After leaving the auditorium, Berry and Storm bombarded Ajax with questions, their frustration and curiosity spilling over. They demanded answers, leaving Ajax feeling cornered. He needed a way out—fast. With Lucius's guidance, he clutched his head and suddenly collapsed, feigning exhaustion.
Panic set in instantly.
"Ajax!" Storm cried, rushing to his side.
Berry and Storm wasted no time getting him to his room, insisting he rest. As Ajax lay there, pretending to be weak, he and Lucius strategized their next move.
"They're not going to let this go," Ajax muttered internally.
"Then we give them just enough of the truth to satisfy them—but not everything. We can't risk them feeling completely betrayed," Lucius advised.
They agreed to reveal his magical abilities, but only one ultimate skill—Creation. The rest, especially his lightning magic, would remain a secret. Ajax had copied that ability from Storm, and the last thing he wanted was to create resentment between them.
An hour later, Ajax "woke up" and used a magic stone—one they all possessed for communication—to call Berry and Storm into his room. Sitting up, he took a deep breath, bracing himself for their reactions.
"I owe you both the truth," he began, his voice steady despite the weight of his words. "I possess my father's water magic and my mother's fire and earth magic. Since I was two, my father has trained me in swordsmanship and combat."
Berry and Storm listened in stunned silence.
"I also have an ultimate skill," Ajax continued. "Creation. It allows me to create anything, as long as I fully understand how it's made."
The room went still.
A Mega Alpha.
Only two others existed in the academy, and now, at just eight years old, Ajax stood among them.
Berry, always the strategist, was the first to recover. "We need to keep Creation a secret. The teachers have already seen your water and earth magic, so there's no use hiding those. But this… we keep between us."
Ajax nodded. A small weight lifted off his shoulders.
But Storm, who had been silent until now, finally spoke, frustration thick in his voice.
"Ajax, why didn't you tell me sooner? We've been best friends for years, and you never said a word!"
Guilt gnawed at Ajax. He looked down. "I didn't want to betray you, Storm. I was trying to protect both of us. But I promise—no more secrets."
Storm was still upset, but he couldn't stay mad for long. After all, Ajax was his best friend.
—
The next morning, Ajax was summoned by the school authorities. His sudden display of power during the duel had raised too many questions.
Nerves tingled through him as he entered the room, but Lucius's voice whispered in his mind.
"Stay calm. Choose your words carefully."
The officials wasted no time.
"Ajax, why didn't you disclose your abilities earlier? You understand that withholding such information can be problematic, don't you?"
Ajax met their gazes steadily. "I wasn't hiding them. I simply hadn't had an opportunity to show them—until now."
They pressed him with relentless questions, but with Lucius guiding him, Ajax remained composed. He explained his training, his inherited affinities, and his knowledge of magic, keeping his answers consistent.
By the end of the meeting, the decision was made.
Ajax was officially classified as an Alpha Rank, a rare honor given only to those with multiple magical abilities. Word would spread quickly through the academy.
As he left the room, relief and anxiety warred inside him. His greatest secret was still safe—for now.
