Sanctuary: Safe Haven

Chapter 350: Clan Creation II

Canna stepped into the adventurer's guild once again, this time with a clear goal in mind. The usual curious stares from adventurers and guild members alike followed him as he made his way to the desk, but he paid no attention to them. His focus was sharp, and his steps were steady. He approached the same cheerful guild attendant from before, who greeted him with a smile.

"Good day, adventurer! How can I assist you today?" she asked, her voice filled with enthusiasm.

"I'm here to start a clan. What do I need to do?" Canna asked directly, his tone leaving no room for misunderstanding.

The girl's eyes lit up with excitement at his request. "Ah! So you're going to start your own clan, huh? That's wonderful! There's quite a bit involved, but I'll summarize the three most important things for you, especially since you're just beginning."

Canna nodded, listening attentively as the attendant continued.

"First," she began, "there's a fee involved in starting a clan, and the cost depends on how large your clan will be. We'll calculate that based on how many members you register, so keep that in mind. Second, every member of your clan must be registered under the adventurer's guild. This is important because, let's say, a member of your clan commits a crime or violates guild law. The clan itself will share in the responsibility for their actions, so it's important that you choose your members carefully."

Canna frowned slightly at that, but he knew it made sense. Managing responsibility and accountability would be a crucial part of leading any clan.

"And lastly," the girl continued, "in the rare event of a local emergency or disaster, the guild may assign nearby clans to take responsibility for handling it. This could involve anything from a large-scale monster attack to defending a town under siege. It doesn't happen often, but it's good to be prepared for that possibility."

Canna thought over the information carefully, absorbing the key details. "That seems clear enough," he replied. "Is there anything else I should know?"

The attendant glanced over her shoulder, rifling through a stack of documents before pulling one out and handing it to him. "This," she said, "is a breakdown of clan rankings and how clans advance through the ranks. There are eight total ranks for clans: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crimson, Adamantine, and finally, Peak. Your clan will start at Bronze, of course, since you're just starting out. But as you complete quests and grow in size, you'll have the opportunity to move up in rank."

Canna looked over the document with interest, taking note of the rank structure. "What are the differences between the ranks?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Ah, yes!" the attendant replied eagerly. "As you move up the ranks, the benefits you receive from the guild grow as well. Bronze, Silver, and Gold clans have access to standard guild services—missions, resources, discounts on certain items, and so on. But once you reach Diamond rank, that's when things get interesting. Diamond-ranked clans are considered prestigious. They gain access to elite missions, unique privileges such as private guild advisors, special magical resources, and in some cases, even sponsorships from kingdoms or major cities."

"Diamond and above?" Canna asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, precisely! Once you reach Crimson rank, your clan will have an even stronger reputation and may even be involved in international affairs. At Adamantine rank, your clan will be known throughout the world, and you'll receive diplomatic immunity in many regions. And finally, Peak rank—" the girl's voice lowered almost reverently "—is the stuff of legend. Only 13 clans have ever reached Peak rank. These clans have cleared hundreds, if not thousands, of 'S' rank missions and are known as protectors of the world itself. They're granted the highest level of prestige, resources, and benefits that the adventurer's guild can offer."

Canna nodded as he processed the information. The benefits were significant, but the journey to reach those upper ranks was clearly a difficult one.

"And how does a clan move up the ranks?" Canna asked, wanting to be clear on the specifics.

"It's fairly straightforward," the attendant explained. "Your clan advances based on the total number of quests completed by its members. For example, to move from Bronze to Silver, your clan will need to complete 20 'E' rank quests. Once you reach Silver, you'll need to complete more—100 'E' rank quests, 50 'D' rank quests, and so on. As the ranks get higher, the requirements become more difficult, with more high-level quests needing to be completed by the clan as a whole."

She paused for a moment, then added, "And one thing to remember: once you start moving into the higher ranks, your clan will also need to clear more difficult quests to maintain its standing. That means ensuring your members are strong, well-trained, and able to handle increasingly dangerous missions."

Canna leaned back slightly, taking it all in. He already had formidable warriors in the sanctuary, but starting a clan would be a public endeavor—something that would expose him and his people to the wider world. He was confident in his abilities and those of his companions, but the idea of creating something as far-reaching as a clan was a new challenge altogether.

The guild attendant, noticing that Canna was deep in thought, smiled kindly. "It's a big responsibility, for sure. But with the right people, anything's possible."

Canna nodded slowly, already imagining the possibilities. He'd need to be strategic, to ensure that the clan's growth was steady, and that they advanced through the ranks with purpose.

"So," the attendant said brightly, pulling Canna from his thoughts, "what will you call your clan?"

Canna paused, his mind racing. He hadn't quite thought that far ahead. A name for his clan—something that would symbolize everything he stood for, and everything he aimed to build. After a moment, he turned his gaze back to the guild attendant, a small smile on his lips.

"The clan's name will be…" he began, but left the sentence hanging for a moment, letting the weight of the decision settle in.

"And how many members will you be registering to start?" the attendant asked, eager to complete the process.

Canna folded his arms, considering his next steps carefully. He knew he had the strength and allies to make this clan a force to be reckoned with. Now, all that was left was to make it official. Discover hidden stories at My Virtual Library Empire
