Chapter 349: First Seeds of The Sanctuary Clan
Canna sat across from Kael in the sanctuary's council room, listening intently as his trusted right hand voiced his concerns. The tension between the two was palpable, and Kael's fiery outburst echoed in the room.
"No!" Kael's voice was firm, his eyes blazing with conviction. "You don't need to start a clan, Canna! We already have everything we need with the sanctuary. It's literally a country of its own. Why would you risk compromising that by creating an outpost or a base in the outside world?"
Canna remained silent for a moment, giving Kael the space to fully articulate his points. Kael, still clearly frustrated, pressed on. "Second, we're going to lose the greatest advantage we have—the sanctuary's secrecy. No one knows where it is, and no one can reach it except us. Here, we're safe. You don't have to worry about assassins, invaders, or spies mingling with our people. Once we establish a presence outside, we open ourselves up to vulnerabilities. It's unnecessary risk, Canna."
Kael's logic was sound. The sanctuary was a haven, untouched by outside interference. It was isolated in such a way that enemies couldn't locate it, let alone penetrate its defenses.
But Canna wasn't entirely convinced. He leaned back in his chair, letting Kael's words settle before he responded. "Kael, I hear you. I understand your concerns, and they're valid—completely valid." Canna paused, his eyes narrowing slightly as he weighed his words. "But there's more to this than just safety."

Kael crossed his arms, still standing firm. "More? Like what? Why do we need this, Canna? We're strong. We have everything we need. The sanctuary is already respected—feared even—by those who know of it. What's the point of setting up a base outside?"
Canna sighed, rubbing his chin as he considered how best to frame his thoughts. "Our name, Kael," he said slowly. "Our name carries weight, but only within limited circles. At some point, we can't remain hidden forever. If we truly want to influence the world, if we want the sanctuary's ideals and vision to spread, we need to step out of the shadows."
Kael frowned. "But why? Why now? We've survived this long by staying under the radar. Why risk exposure when we don't have to?"
Canna leaned forward, his gaze more focused. "Because at some point, power isn't enough if it isn't recognized. Right now, the sanctuary is a hidden gem, known only to a select few. But we need to establish ourselves as a force in the world. Creating a clan—one that represents the sanctuary—would give us the platform to act openly, to build alliances, to gather information, and, more importantly, to shape the world outside."
Kael shook his head. "And at what cost? Once we step into the light, we'll be on everyone's radar. People will come for us. They'll try to infiltrate. They'll try to destroy what we've built."
Canna nodded, understanding the risks Kael was highlighting. "Yes, they might. But look at the benefits, Kael. Think about what we could accomplish if we had eyes and ears in the outside world. Right now, we're relying solely on our network of noctis clones, but a public presence would allow us to gather intel directly. We could monitor political shifts, stay ahead of rising threats, and even sway key players in different regions. Not to mention, the resources we could gain—trade routes, alliances with other powerful entities—those could further strengthen the sanctuary."
Kael uncrossed his arms, pacing as he absorbed Canna's words. "I get that. But still, it feels like a big risk. We could open ourselves up to attack. You said it yourself—if we gain more visibility, we become a target."
Canna remained calm, his voice steady. "Yes, we would be a target. But when has that ever stopped us before? Even now, we have enemies. They just haven't found us yet. I'm not proposing we give up the sanctuary's secrecy. We can still keep its location hidden. What I'm suggesting is that we establish a forward base, a presence that represents our power without revealing everything."
Kael stopped pacing, turning to face Canna. "But why not just let things stay as they are? We're already strong. Our forces are growing, our people are thriving, and we're untouchable where we are. Why expose ourselves at all?"
Canna smiled slightly. "Because, Kael, strength that isn't seen is strength that isn't feared. The sanctuary has its power, but right now, no one knows just how strong we are. If we establish a clan, especially one with the sanctuary's resources backing it, we could become the most influential force on the planet. We wouldn't just be reacting to threats—we'd be setting the agenda. We could decide who our allies are, shape the political landscape, and ensure that no one ever dares to challenge us. Right now, we're hidden, yes. But that also means we're limited."
Kael frowned again, clearly still torn. "I see your point, but what about the sanctuary? If we spread ourselves too thin, what happens here? What if enemies attack while we're focused on the outside world?"
Canna shook his head. "That's the beauty of it, Kael. The sanctuary is self-sufficient. With the guardians and our forces here, it's well protected. And I'm not talking about moving half our forces out into the world. Just a small contingent to establish our presence—a base, a place where people can know us, where we can operate openly."
Kael let out a long sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. "I don't know, Canna. This still feels risky. But if you're that set on it, I guess I can't stop you."
Canna's expression softened. "Kael, you've been with me from the beginning. Your counsel is always invaluable. But we need to think about the long game here. The sanctuary has to be more than just a hidden fortress. It has to be a force in the world. This is our next step."
Kael gave a reluctant nod, finally understanding Canna's perspective, even if he wasn't entirely convinced. "Fine. I still don't like it, but I get where you're coming from. Just… be careful with this. It could blow up in our faces."
Canna smiled. "It won't. We'll move carefully, slowly, and only when we're ready."
With that, Kael exhaled deeply, realizing that the decision had already been made. "Alright then. What's our first move?"
Canna's eyes glinted with determination. "The first step is to find the right people. We'll need a base, allies, and a solid foundation. I'll reach out to a few contacts and start gathering information. Once we have what we need, we'll set the plan in motion."
Kael crossed his arms again, but this time there was a hint of a smile on his face. "Alright, Canna. If you're going through with this, then let's make sure it's done right."
And with that, the first seeds of the sanctuary's expansion into the outside world were planted.
