Chapter 24: Master and Faovi
After Wu Xie had dashed off towards the academy, Master Fu remained standing in the doorway, watching him disappear down the cobblestone street.
The morning breeze rustled the leaves of the nearby trees, carrying with it a sense of anticipation and an underlying unease.
Unbeknownst to Wu Xie, a figure loomed in the shadows behind Master Fu.
A creature similar to Wovi, but larger and with eyes that seemed to hold eons of wisdom, emerged from the darkness.
It perched itself on Master Fu's shoulder, its voice a low, rumbling whisper that sent shivers down his spine.
"Master," the creature, named Faovi, spoke, its voice tinged with an ominous tone, "do you sense it as well? Something...off about this mortal. His aura is strong, unnaturally so. I fear there is darkness lurking within him, a future fraught with brutality."
Master Fu's brow furrowed as he listened intently to Faovi's words. "Yes, I sense it too," he murmured, his gaze fixed on the distant figure of Wu Xie.
"There is an air of mystery surrounding him, a fate intertwined with forces beyond our comprehension."
Faovi's eyes gleamed with a mix of concern and curiosity. "But master, do you truly trust him? Enough to entrust him with Wovi?"
A wry smile played on Master Fu's lips as he reached up to stroke Faovi's feathery fur. "My dear Faovi, trust is a fickle thing. But perhaps it is fate that has brought us together with this young mortal. I sense a connection, a purpose yet to be revealed."
The creature shifted uneasily on Master Fu's shoulder, its voice filled with doubt. "His lifespan...it is but a flicker in the grand scheme of things. A mere guest in this world."
Master Fu nodded solemnly, his eyes never leaving Wu Xie's retreating form. "Indeed, Faovi, His time is limited, that much is clear. But whether he can alter his fate...that remains to be seen."
Faovi let out a soft, mournful chime. "Do you believe, master, that he can achieve the Deity Hidden Stage? Can he truly transcend his mortal limitations?"
Master Fu's gaze turned skyward, as if searching for answers among the swirling clouds. "No one can say for certain," he replied, his voice tinged with a hint of mystery. "Perhaps he will surprise us all. Perhaps he will fail."
A sense of foreboding hung in the air as Master Fu and Faovi watched Wu Xie disappear into the distance.
"But we can give him a chance," Master Fu said finally, a glimmer of determination in his eyes. "We can guide him, teach him, and perhaps...just perhaps...he will find a way back to his world."
With that, Master Fu turned back into the house, Faovi still perched on his shoulder, their minds filled with thoughts of the enigmatic mortal who had stumbled into their lives.
As Wu Xie hurried along the bustling streets towards the academy, his mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and questions.
The events of the past few days replayed in his mind like scenes from a surreal dream. Everything felt so...strange.
'Nothing's been normal since I arrived in this realm,' Wu Xie muttered to himself, dodging past a group of chattering students.
The concept of cultivation, of harnessing mystical energies and unlocking hidden potential, seemed utterly alien to him. 'How do they even do it?' he wondered aloud, his brow furrowing in confusion.
The concept of cultivating one's chi, mastering the art of combat, and delving into the arcane arts to learn magical spells felt like a page ripped straight from a fantasy novel.
Wu Xie found himself caught in a whirlwind of emotions - a cocktail of trepidation and excitement.
A shiver ran down his spine as he contemplated the magnitude of what lay ahead. 'All this...it feels like I'm inside some kind of fantasy movie,' he thought, his heart pounding with a mixture of trepidation and exhilaration.
'But please, writer of fate,' he silently pleaded with the universe, 'grant me a good end. I don't want to be trapped here forever. I long to return to my world, to the familiar embrace of home.'
As he navigated through this new reality, the enormity of the task ahead dawned on him. 'This is going to be incredibly challenging,' he mused, his steps quickening with newfound determination.
'All this focus, all this patience…I don't even know where to begin.' A sense of gratitude washed over him as he thought of Master Fu. 'Thank heavens I found that old man.'
A spark of excitement ignited within Wu Xie as a thrilling thought crossed his mind.
