Chapter 485: Buffs
Hearing Xu Feng's monologue and his reasoning for rescuing her was due to the fact that she had been a team player, somehow warmed Iceheart.
Rather than speaking superficial stuff about rescuing her out of goodwill or something else such as her beauty, Xu Feng was extremely straightforward and blunt.
He rescued her for one simple reason: she was a team player.
It had nothing to do with her beauty, status, or background at all.
"T-Thank you…" Iceheart bit her lips softly and thanked him sincerely.
How long had it been since someone treated her just who she was without any prejudice or external factor involved?
"Don't thank me and take this time to recover your mana." Xu Feng shrugged and brushed her thanks aside.
"If you really want to thank me, then get ready to return to the battle. There are still three Wardens left, including the one that trapped you." He added and pointed at the Warden who had deviously trapped her in a slow crushing death phase.
And upon hearing that, Iceheart's eyes narrowed as she surged with determination when spotting the Warden being hindered by Ardent Lance, Steelshot, SilentWhisper, and Veronica.
There was nothing more she wanted at the moment than beating the crap out of that particular Warden.
"Can you leave the final killing blow to me on that particular Warden, Raid Leader?" Iceheart requested selfishly and using an obedient tone in the meantime— the first time she had done so toward another person other than her Guild Leader.
Taking a glance at her, Xu Feng didn't respond to her right away and instead said, "Let's see if you can recover enough to rejoin the battle first."
After saying that, Xu Feng dropped a few Mana Recovery Potions next to her and joined Carmen's side to assist the battle.
"You've returned already?" With his return, Carmen was surprised that he was finished with his task. Her mind had been focused completely on the Warden who had changed form and even began to cast spells similar to her.
Thus, she failed to notice where and what Xu Feng had gone to do.
In fact, it wasn't just Carmen who had failed to notice Iceheart's plight, but everyone else who was completely occupied by their own respective Warden.
Each Warden had become a different entity of their own, capable of countering them, so just one moment of hesitation would have spelled immense trouble to them.
"Yup, just some small matter." Xu Feng nodded, not even bothering mentioning about Iceheart being trapped. Since no one else noticed it, there was no need to announce the matter, to begin with.
"I see…" Unaware of what happened, Carmen continued to launch her spells and asked, "By the way, Raid Leader. My buffs are about to run out."
"Got it, you'll have to wait for another 45 seconds."
"You buffed someone else already?"
Confused, Carmen was sure she had got the timing of Xu Feng's buffing skills. From her calculation, she thought his buff should have been available by now.
A bit surprised that she caught on quickly to this external factor, Xu Feng was rather pleased that she had started to learn to calculate the cooldown spells of her teammate. In a large-scale fight, knowing what skills your teammate had available was extremely crucial.
"Mhmm, someone else needed the buff quickly, so I buffed them instead. Your DPS might weaken in the process, but it should be manageable." Xu Feng acknowledged his action and explained.
Sometime later, the battle resumed with full intensity, and they were starting to get the hang of the Warden's actions.
Although they adapted fast and could counter them, it was only for one target at a time. They were incapable of countering them altogether, so as long as one was being targeted by the Warden, they must rotate out of the fight.
During the rotation though, they must pay heavy attention to their position and ensure the Warden could not isolate them immediately with their stone walls.
And the best way to reinforce the idea was to split off, or at least that was what some of the members thought.
"Ardent Lance, SilentWhisper, and Steelshot. The three of you come back and don't split off from the team." Xu Feng shouted loudly upon noticing their positioning.
"Have you forgotten that splitting off would be terrible?" He scolded, reminding them that the Mana Drain Aura would be the death of them if affected for a prolonged duration.
Realization soon dawned upon the trio as they hurriedly tried to return to the formation, only to end up facing a massive stone wall.
"Huh? Why did they suddenly block us off here?" Startled, Steelshot tried to turn to another path, but another stone wall coming from an afar Warden was constructed.
"Tsk, it's too late." Xu Feng clicked his tongue when he witnessed the scene. He had severely underestimated his members' coordination and concentration to remain focused in tense situations without his temporary command.
When he went to rescue Iceheart, he had warned them to maintain formation and not to overdo anything.
However, it appeared that the Warden had noticed this slight opening mistake and took advantage of the trio's eagerness in trying to kill them.
Hence, it had feigned weakness and opening that it was only capable of countering them one at a time, prompting them to do a rotation check early and baiting them away. Stay updated with My Virtual Library Empire
Given the fact that Zhao Kai had already returned to his tanking role after Iceheart had somehow disappeared in the formation, he had been working alongside Ardent Lance to prevent the Wardens from approaching close to the backline.
Yet the situation had undergone another change, with a slight gap in their supposed strong formation, enabling the sneaky Warden to slip through and impede upon the backline with its Mana Drain Aura.
Without a choice, Xu Feng had to take matters into his own hands, rushing up ahead to prevent the sneaky Warden from advancing any further into their formation. "Lunar Wraith, assist me from the side. I'll deal with this sneaky Warden!"
