Chapter 480: Stone Beam
Upon the blasting beam retracted after 3 seconds, almost everyone's gazes were directed at the now open ceiling that had been heavily penetrated.
Debris started crashing down from the sky, making a loud rumbling sound in the process.
"Phew, made it just in time." Iceheart, who was currently panting heavily, felt her hands shaking from the impact. To forcefully knock the EGW down, she mustered all her strength and mana in activating one of her trump skills, Titan Smash.
Titan Smash enabled the berserker to generate so much force that it'll cause an explosion and knock back an enemy. Despite its strong usage of skill, the backlash was equally high if the enemy was extremely tough and durable.
Hence, Iceheart's hands were currently shaking uncontrollably due to her forceful activation of the Titan Smash on a target that was not weakened whatsoever.
"Retreat backward!" Xu Feng's voice suddenly resounded, and without hesitation, Iceheart retreated to the backline.
Once she returned to the backline, Xu Feng handed her an Intermediate Mana Recovery Potion, as well as a Stamina Potion.
"Drink those two and take a rest for now." Xu Feng commanded and praised her as well.
"And good judgment in the heat of the moment. Had the Elder Golem Warden launched its stone beam at us, then most of us would have been incapacitated."
Iceheart's eyes widened in shock when she heard what he had just said.
"W-What did you say?" She was so stunned that she asked him again.
"I said you did a good job." Xu Feng, not one to mince his words or refuse to admit mistakes, praised her one more time.
"I forgot that certain Elite Enemies would have a 5% chance of unleashing a Unique Skill. The chance of it occurring was low, so I failed to calculate the variable in time, but your quick judgment saved the day." He continued, subtly reminding everyone that Iceheart didn't try to disobey him on purpose.
Special circumstances naturally require a special method of dealing with them.
So despite the fact that Iceheart went against his order, she did it out of goodwill and inherently saved the backline from being blasted.
Therefore, Xu Feng wouldn't reprimand her.
"Anyway, it was done in a good clause, but next time give a heads-up to your fellow teammates regarding your action next time. It would have been better if you informed them before making an act." Xu Feng gently warned her on what to do next time.
Sure, the moment was too intense and a delay could not be tolerated, but that didn't mean you can't give a brief heads-up in the meantime.
Nodding her head, Iceheart didn't rebuke his words this time. After all, Zhao Kai and Ardent Lance were both about to launch their skills but had to halt themselves because of her sudden advancement. Continue your adventure with My Virtual Library Empire
This action disrupted the team's coordination in a sense, and if Iceheart happened to make the incorrect judgment, then she was sure Xu Feng would have given her an earful of the event.
While this reminder seemed long, the truth was that only 5 seconds had passed, and the team had already initiated the second phase of Xu Feng's plan.
The stone beam was an unexpected situation, but almost instantaneously, the team composed themselves and started firing their spells and attacking at the now-fallen EGW.
Due to Titan Smash, the EGW was also stunned for a certain duration, meaning now was the perfect time to launch their attacks aggressively.
However, the time frame they could continuously DPS was very short, given the EGW stone beam and Golem Crush had attracted the nearby patrolling EGWs.
Very soon, two more EGW began approaching them with hostility in their glowing green eyes. The only thing that was reassuring was that none of the new EGWs were capable of using stone beams.
"Everyone resume your formation and continue a cycling phase to ensure your mana stays healthy." Xu Feng quickly commanded and placed himself in the extreme back. His supporting role here was the most pivotal, to say the least.
Without his buff and timely healing, the tanks wouldn't be able to last long, but there was no need for the team to worry about such matters. All they needed to know was that their roles were equally important and crucial in this battle.
As Xu Feng assisted Ardent Lance, who was busy tanking one of the newly arrived EGW, he turned to Carmen.
"Summon your Elementalist and have them attract some of the aggro. They don't have to be strong, just enough for a brief opening for Ardent Lance."
"Got it!" Swiftly, Carmen received the order and summoned her most basic Elementalist on the field.
It was of the Water Element, and she planned on making these stone-type elite enemies wet. By having them wet, Veronica could then follow up with lightning-type spells to create an electrocute elemental reaction.
The key to maximizing damage was to construct elemental reactions, but of course, there were more ways to deal heavier damage.
However, those methods would take too long and are quite inefficient in a fast-paced battle, especially when everyone's skill trees weren't that advanced yet.
Shortly after Carmen controlled her Water Type Elementalist toward the EGW that Ardent Lance was holding aggro on, she began to conjure a spell, using the Elementalist as a medium.
Her hands moved swiftly, weaving mana into the water element, and the air around the battlefield seemed to grow damp and heavy.
With a sharp command, the Water Type Elementalist unleashed Torrential Wave.
A massive surge of water materialized, crashing toward the EGW like a relentless tidal force. The sheer weight of the water slowed the Warden's movements, forcing it to struggle against the current.
In anger, the EGW growled and flung its stone arm at the Water Type Elementalist, disintegrating it in the process.
However, upon disintegrating the Elementalist, the residue water began dripping onto its stone structure, drenching it completely.
"Vortex Viper, attack it with Lightning Bolt!" Carmen hurriedly commanded once her plan succeeded in wetting the EGW.
