Chapter 469: Dodge-and-Weave
After Carmen's team rejoined Zhao Kai to deal with the second Gargoyle, Iceheart practically took it upon herself to solo, allowing the rest to finally take a breather and recover.
Of course, there were still quite a lot of people who were capable of assisting Xu Feng in his battle, but this was denied by a single gesture of his finger.
Although they couldn't comprehend why Xu Feng refused any assistance, some still decided to be on standby and watch the battle.
And if they hadn't done so, then they wouldn't have realized what was actually happening in reality.
"Is this even a fight against the Gargoyle?" Steelshot swallowed a mouthful of saliva nervously and asked softly.
"This feels more like a punishment…" Veronica twitched her brows, finding it baffling that Xu Feng would act in such a manner.
"No, as petty as the Raid Leader was. He wouldn't do this without a reason." Carmen shook her head and held a solemn expression, her gaze locking on the pitiful individual: DeathLingers.
Indeed, right now, DeathLingers no longer had any cool and mysterious aura.
Rather, he was in a worse state than what they had all gone through during the raid. DeathLingers was panting heavily after being forced to dodge the attack from the third Gargoyle consistently and having been restrained in a small area.
Amidst this scene, Ardent Lance raised a question, "Did DeathLingers offend the Raid Leader in any way?"
It was hard for them to believe Xu Feng would blatantly mistreat and torture a fellow member like this without reason.
After all, Xu Feng might have been harsh but that was because they made mistakes or went against his authority.
Not once had Xu Feng ever targeted someone who had done their job. In fact, he would even praise or compliment the individual who did amazingly well.
In other words, Xu Feng was a practical and decisive Raid Leader who wouldn't accept any insubordination.
Their confusion would continue when they heard Xu Feng chided DeathLingers' movement.
"Stop moving too much and control your movement in a micro manner! How is SilentWhisper supposed to deal enough damage if you keep wiggling around and creating zero opening for her to attack?"
On the brink of losing his cool, DeathLingers wanted to shout aloud at how he was the one at fault here. Your next read is at My Virtual Library Empire
He was an Assassin, meant to conceal within the shadows and ambush for a surprise attack. And not some dodge-and-weave class who was forced to confront a Gargoyle straight on.
"SilentWhisper, just launch your spells." Xu Feng turned to her and said in a somewhat disappointing tone." DeathLingers wasn't that great despite his act of mysteriousness, so if you hit him accidentally, then so be it."
"Huh?" Startled and alarmed, SilentWhisper began wondering if she had heard him wrong.
"You want me to launch my spells regardless if he was in the way or not?" She asked in a baffled tone, seemingly trying to confirm her hearing.
Nodding, Xu Feng quickly clapped his hands. "Now chop chop, get the show on the road. My buff isn't permanent and has a cooldown as well."
"A-A-Alright then." SilentWhisper stutteringly responded to his command and wielded her staff, conjuring her spell.
Since Xu Feng had given permission and she didn't want to get such "precious treatment", she decisively prayed for DeathLinger's health points to be capable of withstanding her bombardment.
'Don't blame me, DeathLingers.' She silently exclaimed and unleashed her spells.
"Fuck!" DeathLingers cursed involuntarily when he sensed danger from his back.
Without hesitation, he hurriedly hastened his speed to avoid a pincer attack.
Amidst his instinctive reaction, the crowd soon saw something unbelievable.
DeathLingers was somehow capable of phasing out the attack launched by SilentWhisper, almost as if the spell had seemingly passed through empty air and pierced through the unaware Gargoyle.
BOOM!
The Gargoyle didn't anticipate the spell to land on it, prompting its failure in avoiding or shielding the spell. It was directly blasted to the wall and was stunned for 3 seconds.
Meanwhile, Xu Feng no longer idled around and commanded the group who had been resting to get up and DPS the third Gargoyle.
"Don't bother saving your high-damage attack and use everything you got!" Xu Feng exclaimed and buffed the strongest DPS, Carmen.
"Yes, Raid Leader!"
Carmen and the rest had been waiting for a while to get permission to join the battle. Thus, they swiftly got to their battle stance and soon, the pitiful third Gargoyle was blasted into dust during its stunned duration.
The moment the third Gargoyle fell to its death, Iceheart simultaneously finished soloing the second Gargoyle.
Finally, only four Gargoyles remained, but DeathLingers stamina had hit an all-time low after utilizing his phasing skill to avoid the lethal strike coming from SilentWhisper.
A sorcerer's damage was not to be underestimated at all cost.
Alas, DeathLingers failed to realize that nearly everyone was staring at him with a suspicious and baffling expression. When he heard zero sound, he turned around and held an expressionless face.
Ignoring the others who looked at him with widened eyes, DeathLingers smiled bitterly.
"So you knew all along, right?" He asked, his gaze staring deeply at Xu Feng.
"I knew, but I didn't want to say much unless you actually made a move." Xu Feng mused, not a bit surprised that the latter had figured out that he knew that he was one of the rats. After all, DeathLingers' skill was pretty decent and it was free labor work.
Why should he expose them if they plan on concealing themselves?
Alas, it appeared that DeathLingers couldn't conceal any longer and attempted quite the childish trick.
SilentWhisper's movement went out of bounds not because she lost track of her direction, but rather because DeathLingers made the floor slipper using his glacial skill.
It was rather discreet and nearly slipped through his eyes, but Xu Feng had been scrutinizing him throughout the time he was commanding.
"You knew but didn't expose me and made me do all this tedious work." DeathLingers pursed his lips, feeling a mixture of anger and bewilderment.
