Reincarnated into a World Filled with Dungeons, But My Blessing Turned Out to Be the Most Challenging Dungeon

Chapter 39

Before me stood a majestic building with towering columns, a marble floor, and an atmosphere that radiated mystery.

“So this is the temple…”

The grandeur of it, along with an overwhelming sense of pressure, made me feel a little uneasy.

“It’s huge…”

However, Eve didn’t seem phased at all. Without a hint of tension, she casually remarked on the temple’s appearance with a simple “Hmm.”

“So, I just need to make a donation here, right?”

I was still uncertain, so I asked Eve to confirm our purpose for being here.

“Master, didn’t you read the explanation yesterday?”

Eve’s voice came back with a tone of exasperation.

It was true; I had read it. But since it was something unprecedented, I couldn’t help but feel nervous.

The reason I was visiting this famous temple in the royal capital had to do with what happened last night.

Last Night

“Now, I think it’s time to upgrade the [Temple].”

Today, after receiving a reward from Roberto, I found myself with extra funds. Roberto had generously handed me 50 gold coins.

For guarding 20 people for just two days, this was an extraordinarily high amount. It seemed that Angelica’s family also contributed, suggesting that they came from a prominent noble house.

Since there was no harm in accepting it, I decided to enjoy the goodwill.

With the money now in hand, I figured it was a good time to power up the [Temple] capabilities.

“So, I’ll make a donation to the [Temple].”

I placed a single gold coin on the [Temple].

“…Nothing’s happening.”

But nothing changed. The gold coin stayed where it was, and the [Temple] appeared no different.

“Maybe the donation was too small, and it’s already expanded?”

I asked Eve, who was peering closely at the gold coin with a puzzled look on her face.

“Hmm, no, it’s still the same [Temple] as before.”

She quickly dismissed my theory with a shake of her head.

Something was off. I had made the donation, but why wasn’t it being accepted?

Frustration rose as I pondered why things weren’t going as expected.

“Ah!”

Suddenly, Eve let out a surprised cry as she noticed something.

“What is it? Did you figure something out?”

I asked, eager to learn if she had discovered anything. I watched her closely.

“For now, how about I show you the explanation text?”

With that, something transparent appeared before us.

“It’s an application of illusion magic. I’ve opened up a view of what I usually see, so you can look at it too.”

I was impressed by Eve’s ability to apply magic so effectively. As expected from the manager of The World. She really thought of everything.

I turned my attention to the guidebook she had summoned and began reading it, trying to avoid eye contact with her smiling face.

“I see… So this is it.”

“Seems like it.”

As I traced my finger over the text, I read aloud.

[Temple]… “By donating money to the [Temple], you can expand the [Temple]. As the [Temple] grows, the number and variety of blessings you receive at once also increases.”

Present

“In other words, it’s not about donating to that [Temple], but to this one here, right?”

I never expected that the condition for expansion would be donating to the real temple rather than just any random one. But now it all made sense.

“It’s a bit inconvenient that you can’t expand it anywhere, though…”

Eve voiced her slight dissatisfaction. Perhaps she didn’t like the idea of expanding something outside of her management?

“Well, now that we know, let’s test it out.”

With that, I walked into the temple. Inside, I saw priests and healers dressed in ceremonial robes, moving about with an air of solemnity.

In my previous world, I wasn’t affiliated with any particular religion, so places like this, where people revered gods, made me feel a little nervous.

(Now, where do I go to make the donation?)

“Hmm? I guess you could just ask someone around here.”

Eve responded nonchalantly, as though she wasn’t bothered by the situation at all.

I observed the priests passing by, trying to figure out who I could approach, when…

“Oh, isn’t that Erik?”

I turned around at the sound of a familiar voice.

“You’re… Serene?”

There, smiling at me, was Serene, the healer I had teamed up with in the dungeon.
