Chapter 38
“I’m looking forward to three days from now, Master.”
As I left the Fur Fur & Bone Meat Shop, Eve spoke up.
(I hope she doesn’t overdo it.)
I wasn’t sure exactly how long it would take to dismantle a single monster. After all, swinging such large blades must require a lot of stamina.
Isabella didn’t seem like she had that much physical strength, and I suspected that she might be pushing herself to meet my expectations.
As I was walking and thinking about this, I passed quite a few people.
Here in the royal capital, there are many schools for adventurers and explorers.
Even students, if they form a party, can challenge Dungeon Rank I and II. Because of that, young men and women who are a little older than me often dive into dungeons, so the main street was bustling.
“If Master wants to dive into a dungeon, you’ll need a party, too.”
It is possible for students to register with the Explorer’s Guild. However, no matter how strong they are, to challenge Dungeon Rank I, they need a party of at least four people. For Dungeon Rank II, they need five or more. Only after graduating from school can they challenge Dungeon Rank III with a party of six or more.
“When I think about it, maybe helping Roberto and the others on the uninhabited island was a good thing.”
When I read the rules about dungeons in the textbooks, I realized I would need someone to dive into a dungeon with me.
(Well, if it’s Roberto, diving together might be fun.)
Either way, that’s something to think about after school starts. Also…
(With Eve’s abilities, she could probably explore new or undiscovered dungeons on her own.)
In fact, we had explored a dungeon on the uninhabited island that Eve discovered. It’s not that it’s impossible to enter without a party.
While thinking about all this, we arrived at the restaurant Isabella had introduced.
“Sorry to keep you waiting. Here’s the orc steak, the grilled tongue of the direwolf with herbs, and the salad.”
The sizzling sound from the hot plate and the delicious aroma rising from it made my mouth water. On the uninhabited island, we mostly ate fish and vegetables, so I was completely entranced by the flowing juices of the meat.
I immediately cut into the steak with my knife, and it sliced easily without resistance.
“It was a bit tougher when we fought it.”
Apparently, there’s a trick to dismantling orcs properly; if it’s done poorly, the meat stays tough. This steak seemed like a job well done.
“Delicious!”
I savored the meat with relish. Next, my hand reached for the direwolf’s tongue.
“This one’s chewy.”
The herbs seemed to have taken away the strong flavor of the direwolf, making it much easier to eat. As I continued to eat both dishes, Eve spoke up.
“Ugh, I wish I could eat too. That looks so good.”
Even though Eve could create an illusion of herself using illusion magic, it wouldn’t work for eating.
As I thought about this, I reached for the salad, but…
“…It’s not great.”
I realized again just how wonderful the vegetables I grow in my [Farm] are. If I sold them, there’s no doubt they would become popular in no time.
“Oh, I forgot to bring a gift for Roberto.”
We had parted on such a good note that I had completely forgotten. I would need to give it to him the next time we meet.
I finished eating the salad while thinking about that.
“So, what are you doing next?”
As I left the restaurant, it was already past late afternoon.
Having returned to the royal capital earlier that day, I had spent quite a bit of time out.
I began noticing more and more street vendors closing their shops for the day, and it seemed like it would be difficult to do anything else at this hour.
“Well… the exam just ended, so I think I’ll relax in my room today.”
I said that, and then I turned into a back alley, entering The World.
