Reincarnated in Naruto World with a System

Chapter 18: Foolish Little Brother

Uchiha Tatsumi followed Mikoto closely, his gaze flicking to the control panel in front of him. A notification had appeared, shifting his focus momentarily:

System Information Update:

Current Ninja Points: 3,600

As expected, beating up unsuspecting kids and out ranking them is where the real profit lay. Windfalls made men rich, no matter the world, and in this shinobi life, that truth held firm.

During the recent training matches, Tatsumi had secured his first official victory against an opponent, netting him 1,000 points. His subsequent win against Minato had yielded an even more substantial reward—2,000 points.

Clearly, the system's payout scaled with progression. Normally, defeating Minato would have earned only around 400 points, but since it was a ranking match, the rewards had been amplified.

So, in a way, was Minato normally worth so little? Tatsumi chuckled wryly. Perhaps he'd been comforting himself too much when he was starved for points. He had once thought having an abundance would be overwhelming, that the burden of choice would be stifling.

Now, he realised how laughable that assumption had been.

Was having more ninja points really such a burden?

No. It was bliss.

Was he truly such a simple man?

Tatsumi exhaled sharply, shaking his head in amusement.

"Lady Tsunade, my friend is injured! Please, take a look at him!" Mikoto's usually composed voice wavered with urgency as she addressed Konoha's famed Sannin.

"...Huh?" Tsunade raised an eyebrow, distracted after having just finished dealing with a more seriously injured student. Her golden eyes landed on Mikoto first, then flickered toward Tatsumi.

"The Uchiha brat, huh? What's wrong with him?"

"Look at this! Such a deep wound!" Mikoto said insistently, pushing Tatsumi's arm forward.

Tsunade's gaze dropped to the supposedly grievous injury. A long, unimpressed silence followed.

"...Huh?" she muttered again, her expression blank. "This tiny scratch? This less-than-a-centimetre superficial cut? You call this a big wound?"

Mikoto flushed slightly, suddenly unsure of herself, while Tatsumi looked away, visibly embarrassed.

Tsunade clicked her tongue. "If it bothers you so much, I have a needle and thread. Want me to sew up the tear in your clothes while I'm at it?"

There was a beat of silence. Then Tatsumi, ever the deadpan strategist, nodded.

"Yes, actually, that would be nice."

Without hesitation, he removed his outer cloak and held it out to Konoha's strongest kunoichi.

Tsunade stared at him, then at the offered garment, before bursting into laughter. "You cheeky little—fine, give it here."

To Mikoto's growing horror, Tsunade actually pulled out a small sewing kit from her pouch and got to work.

Tatsumi watched with mild fascination. "You carry that around?"

Tsunade smirked. "When you're out on missions for months at a time, in the middle of nowhere, and your gear gets shredded in battle, you either learn to patch it up yourself or deal with freezing your ass off. Trust me, my technique is impeccable."

She leaned in slightly, lowering her voice in a conspiratorial whisper. "I don't tell just anyone about this, you know. Feel honoured, little brat."

Tatsumi narrowed his eyes. Yeah, sure. Like hell I believe that.

"Lady Tsunade, I can sew," Mikoto interjected suddenly, unable to take it anymore. "Please, just check Tatsumi's wound instead!"

Tsunade shot her an amused glance before finally relenting. But by the time she turned back, Tatsumi was already pulling his sleeve back down.

"The wound's already healed," he said simply. "Only the scar remains."

A long, awkward silence settled between them.

Mikoto, who had been so worried just moments ago, turned bright red in realisation.

Tsunade exhaled in mock exasperation, folding her arms. "You Uchiha kids and your overdramatic nonsense."

---

"Sis! Hey, elder sister, I'm injured too!"

The sudden voice of Senju Nawaki cut through the moment. He had been lurking nearby, watching everything unfold, and now saw his opportunity.

Mikoto frowned slightly. "Nawaki?"

The young Senju had clearly been observing with a growing sense of injustice. Since when did Tsunade offer to mend clothes?! He had never once received such treatment from his sister, and he was beginning to take it personally.

Could it be that this Tatsumi really was trying to woo Tsunade?!

No. No, he wouldn't allow it.

Tsunade turned to him, expression blank. "Where are you hurt?"

Nawaki hesitated. Shit. He hadn't actually thought this through.

His uniform was pristine. His chakra was stable. He hadn't fought anyone today.

"U-uh…" Nawaki stalled, brain scrambling. "I...I caught a cold!"

Tsunade's golden eyes narrowed.

"Oh? A cold, you say?"

There was a subtle but immediate shift in her aura. Nawaki, oblivious, pressed forward, attempting to make his lie more convincing.

"Yes! That's right! My throat feels scratchy, and I think I have a fever!"

Tsunade suddenly smiled.

A bright, gentle, utterly deceiving smile.

"Ahh, that makes sense. After all, there's been a sudden cold snap lately, hasn't there?"

Nawaki nodded enthusiastically—until he froze.

Wait. Cold snap?

They were in the middle of May. The weather was warm.

His expression slowly morphed into dawning horror.

Tsunade pulled out a scroll, making a few quick hand seals. With a puff of smoke, two gelatinous, wriggling, horrifically familiar blue creatures appeared on the table.

They pulsed, oozing sticky liquid.

"Here you go," Tsunade said sweetly. "Medicine for all ailments."

Nawaki's face drained of colour. He recognised them instantly.

Nasal Mucus Insects.

He took a step back in terror. He had heard Jiraiya's screams once upon a time. He knew what these things did.

"E-Elder sister…"

Tsunade's smile widened ominously. "What's wrong, Nawaki? You said you were sick, right?"

Uchiha Tatsumi, enjoying the sight of Nawaki's misfortune, calmly allowed Mikoto to finish her stitching.

He hid his smirk well.

"My foolish little brother," Tsunade murmured with a shake of her head. "You should know better than to try lying to me."
