Chapter 12: Time Flies, The Sanin Arrive
After entering the Academy, Uchiha Tatsumi began his formal ninja training. The training in the first grade was straightforward; besides basic theoretical lessons, they focused on refining Chakra.
Chakra is the foundation of all Ninjutsu. In the first week of enrolment, the teacher taught the methods to refine Chakra. Tatsumi had already learned how to extract Chakra at the age of four. However, his Chakra reserves were only at Level 2, which was considered excellent among his peers. The Uchiha Clan's bloodline naturally provided him with more Chakra reserves than the average person.
But this wasn't enough. The Uchiha Clan was never famous for their Chakra reserves. Sitting in front of him was Nawaki, whose Chakra reserves were several times greater than his own. Tatsumi felt envious but knew this was a natural physique problem. While his current Chakra reserves were sufficient, he longed for more.
"I don't want to end up like Hatake in the future," he muttered to himself. "Releasing a few Ninjutsu and then turning into a salted fish."
Tatsumi admired the First Hokage's Chakra reserves, which could rival Naruto's and half of the Nine-Tails. Such a comparison felt almost disrespectful to the First Hokage. Luckily, Tatsumi had a ninja system; with points, he could continuously add to his Chakra attribute.
In his previous life, Tatsumi wasn't an exerciser; he was more of a brainy type with simple limbs. But in this life, he chose to become a ninja. He had to push himself to train hard and not fall behind. He envisioned numerous imaginary enemies. Whenever he felt lazy, he would picture himself being easily killed by powerful foes.
Under constant training, his Taijutsu became the strongest in all aspects, though he kept this a secret. "A ninja should always have a trump card," he thought.
Having experienced two lifetimes, Tatsumi's original soul had crossed over to the Naruto world. His most outstanding feature was his spiritual energy. At the age of five, he possessed the life experience of an adult in his twenties, making his spiritual energy extremely powerful. This powerful spiritual energy, combined with an innate talent for Genjutsu, made Tatsumi proficient in Genjutsu even before activating his Sharingan.
"I'll surpass even the son of Genjutsu Niucha," he promised himself. "Genetically, Shisui's father's Genjutsu isn't bad, but I can be better."
Every day, Tatsumi would run to build his physical strength. His regimen included leapfrogging, rope skipping, push-ups, striking wooden piles, and sit-ups—simple yet effective exercises. These activities provided a stable source of points for his training.
A year passed, and Uchiha Tatsumi entered the second year with the highest strength.
Lying on the table, he glanced at his points panel:

At this time, the ranks on the panel had changed significantly from a year ago. Uchiha Tatsumi's Taijutsu had finally reached Genin Level. His highest ranks were in Throwing Shuriken Technique and Genjutsu, without a doubt. Tatsumi's innate talent in Genjutsu was evident, and he had also started adding points to other attributes.
"I've begun to learn some simple Ninjutsu," he thought, reflecting on his progress.
Born with three attributes—wind, fire, and thunder—Tatsumi chose to add points in these areas. He earned these points through his hard work, often brushing up on students of the same grade. This left him feeling a tinge of guilt, as many of his peers, especially the Uchiha trio, would avoid him now. Tatsumi felt he had become the childhood shadow for most of them.
In his mind, a demon and an angel were locked in conversation:
"Give me a chance."
"I didn't have a choice before; now I want to be a good person."
"Okay, go and tell the system to make you a good person."
"Then let me go to hell."
"Sorry, I was forced."
"Who knows?"
"Tatsumi, are you okay? You seem down…" During a break, Mikoto noticed Tatsumi lying on the desk, looking lifeless. He wasn't on the Academy roof getting fresh air or reading his usual books.
"I'm about to become a boss in women's clothing; just ignore me," Tatsumi mumbled.
"Huh?" Mikoto didn't understand.
Lifeless, Tatsumi waved Mikoto away, signalling her to leave him be. As desk mates, Mikoto was worried and moved closer. Tatsumi, proficiently extending his hand, patted her head.
"Really, Tatsumi…" Mikoto let him pat her head, saying nothing more.
"What's wrong, Tatsumi? Aren't you happy?" she asked gently. "Would you like to play a game between classes?"
A gentle voice sounded nearby. "Hey, Tatsumi. What's the matter?"
Looking up, Tatsumi saw Namikaze Minato sitting in front of him with a kind smile.
"Do you want to spar?" Minato asked.
"No, thanks," Tatsumi refused decisively. He didn't have enough points to defeat Minato.
Minato wasn't disappointed. "By the way, I heard that Nishimura-sensei won't be taking us for the outdoor training course today. Instead, a young Jonin from the village will. He's one of the Third Hokage's disciples," Minato added excitedly.
"One of the Third Hokage's disciples?" Tatsumi pondered for a moment, then recalled. "Isn't it the future infamous trio of…"
No, he corrected himself, it's Konoha's legendary Sannin: Lesser Sage Jiraiya, who wrote infamous books poisoning youngsters; Tsunade, the Princess of Konoha, who lost her fortune; and Orochimaru, the scientist who abducted children.
"Yes, since they just returned from a mission and have free time, the Third Hokage sent his three disciples over to teach us," Minato explained.
"Is the village sensing something off about the Ninja World?" Tatsumi squinted his eyes, thinking deeply.
The future Fourth Hokage, still a child, seemed excited. Unlike Tatsumi and Mikoto, Minato didn't belong to a clan ninja camp. At his age, apart from the Three-Style Jutsu, he had no chance of learning other Ninjutsu. Meanwhile, Tatsumi, who had already started extensive training in Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu, could easily surpass the future Fourth Hokage in terms of strength alone.
