Chapter 7: Chapter 7
Kyoko watched as Manaka walked away waving at her from behind, she didn't know what to feel from the conversation she had with him, she sighed and pulled out an apple from seemingly nowhere and took a bite of it. "Do i like him?"
she genuinely didn't know, she was still wary of the witches aura around him but he seemed normal except knowing that magical girls and witches exist and also how he seems to change his personality every once in a while, it was like a broken mirror trying to mimic multiple faces of the same person on different broken shards. "Yeah i like him but he's complicated, atleast he understands me though"
with that Kyoko went on her own way and made sure to take note on someone that looks like Manaka and has almost similar names since he asked her to go easier on his twin sister if they ever met.
Manaka walked back home with a smile on his face, it was pleasant talking to someone who had such tragic experiences at least make them comforted even if it is for a short amount of time.
The next day in the dining table, the Kaname family were having breakfast when Madoka suddenly started crying and saying something about their dads food tasting good and saying she's alive.
Manaka calmly took a sip of his tea, observing the scene at the breakfast table. His twin sister, Madoka, was wiping her eyes as she tried to compose herself, but the tears kept coming. Their father, Tomohisa Kaname, chuckled softly, clearly touched by his daughter's unexpected emotional outburst.
"Well, I didn't think my cooking was that good," he joked, trying to lighten the mood. "But I appreciate the compliment, Madoka."
Junko Kaname, their mother, raised an eyebrow and smirked. "You sure you didn't just sneak some of my whiskey before breakfast, Madoka?"
Madoka shook her head furiously, her voice cracking. "N-No! It's just… I don't know, everything just tastes so good, and it makes me realize how lucky I am to be alive."
The room fell into an awkward silence. Manaka's eyes flickered with concern, but he kept his expression neutral. He wasn't going to pry—at least not here in front of everyone. Whatever was bothering Madoka seemed deep, and there was no need to add more pressure.
"Well," Manaka finally said, his tone light but deliberate, "you're right. Dad's cooking is great, and life is worth appreciating." He smiled at her gently. "But maybe let's save the waterworks for a more dramatic moment, yeah?"
Madoka sniffled and let out a small laugh despite herself. "Yeah… sorry. I guess I got a little carried away."
Junko leaned back in her chair, clearly relieved. "That's more like it. Emotional breakdowns are fine and all, but preferably not before I've had my second cup of coffee."
Manaka chuckled and they soon continued on with breakfast.
....
Soon both Madoka and Manaka were walking side by side, Manaka spoke. "So can you tell me the truth as to why you were crying this morning"
Madoka flinched and stuttered the next moment. "I-im not hiding anything from you, I was just crying like that"
"Sigh, well ok I'll just find out later, see you" As he said that he walked away from her leaving her behind.
Madoka stood there and then suddenly exclaimed. "Hey?! Don't leave me here Manaka?!"
Manaka paused and glanced back with a faint smirk. "Then hurry up, slowpoke."
The twins shared a single moment of happiness at this moment, Manaka smiled but deep within him he frowned, he sighed and realized his sister might fall into a different kind of despair in the following days.
He wanted to help her. BUT who is he to interfere with faith and destiny, in order for him to do that he would have to evolve from a mere glitch in the timeline to an error that cannot be erased, a virus that cannot be stopped. Of course by this point he has already realized he was an outsider not meant to exist in this universe.
Soon Madoka and Sayaka met up with each other but neither of them talked, they both had a depressing look on their face. Sayaka moved forward when madoka wanted to talk to her.
Manaka was looking straight into the eyes of kyubey, a dark smile formed on his face as he stood there seemingly staring at the ground is what people would have said.
But Manaka was amused that the incubator took notice of his existence today, Manaka smiled but this time acting oblivious that he noticed kyubey and made his way to class.
Manaka blankly stared at the glowing screen of his computer in order to block out the teachers useless rant about her acting like a feminist.
....
The night soon elapsed, Kyoko sat atop a radio tower looking straight ahead the city, she absentmindedly ate the apple she was holding as she thought about Manaka's word. what if what you were fighting all this time was just a twisted reflection of what you will soon become.
Well if what he said is true, then yes she would probably fall into despair because there was nothing more painful than making a wish and it becomes useless once it is granted, yes she would shatter her soul gem right here and now with no hesitation because she has nothing and no one left.
Kyoko wished to let all her emotions out, she didn't want to keep it bottled in and if what he said was true she would just go to him and release those pent up emotions. she would express them through tears and shouts.
She stared into this city once more, a bitter smile adorned her face as she decided to speak a simple prayer, she prayed to go back to the time she never made a wish in the first place, a time where she could be with her family even if they didn't have that much.
Kyoko sighed and stood, She heard Mami died and now she was about to go hunt down a witch or maybe even meet that strange but interesting boy.
She then left.
kyubi sat there, it's tail swunged hypnotically it's emotionless and blank eye's pondered on a question it could not answer.
Could it gain energy from the anomaly known as Manaka Kaname.
