Reborn as Madokas Twin Brother

Chapter 6: Talking with Kyoko

Kyoko placed her hands on her hips, her toothy grin was still plastered on her face while she looked at Manaka. "Hey, you feel more like a witch than before, did you eat one or something"

She joked half expecting Manaka to laugh well he just chuckled. "What if I did?"

"Didn't you say you can't transform or something" She asked teasingly as sheobed to his side.

Manaka hummed as he started walking. "Maybe I can, also I don't see Kyubey with you? Didn't you tell him about my existence?"

Kyoko who was following him smirked. "Why should I do that, I don't really trust that thing" She said with a slightly down smile.

Manaka smiled. "The consequences of a wish will always lead to an unforeseen form of despair, I am surprised you didn't give into that"

Kyoko stayed silent for a moment and then she spoke. "...Yeah maybe I did feel a bit depressed when the so called consequences came crashing down on me"

"Oh really, can I hear your story then?"

Kyoko's steps slowed for a moment as her smirk faded into something softer, almost nostalgic. "Heh, you wanna hear my sob story, huh?" she asked, crossing her arms. "Not exactly the kind of thing I go around sharing, you know."

Manaka glanced at her with a calm but curious expression. "I'm just curious. You're one of the few magical girls who hasn't completely given in to despair. That makes you…interesting."

Kyoko let out a dry laugh. "Interesting, huh? That's a first." She shoved her hands into her jacket pockets as they walked along the quiet street. "Fine, I'll tell you. But don't expect some heartwarming fairy tale."

Manaka nodded, keeping his attention on her.

"It all started with my old man," Kyoko began, her voice tinged with bitterness. "He was a priest, y'know? Real passionate about helping people. But nobody cared. His church was empty most of the time, and we were barely scraping by. I believed in him, though. I thought if people just heard his words, they'd understand."

Her gaze hardened. "So I made a wish with Kyubey. I wished that people would listen to my dad, that he'd be able to reach them and make their lives better. And it worked. The church was packed, people were happy, and my family was finally doing okay."

Manaka's eyes narrowed. "But then?"

Kyoko's expression darkened. "Then my old man found out about my wish. He lost it. Said it was all a lie, that I was playing God or some crap. He couldn't handle it. Ended up going crazy and…well, let's just say it didn't end well."

"Ah so he thought you sold your soul to the devil, well I don't think a devil exists in this world nor the existence of a being called 'God'" Manaka stared up into the sky.

Kyoko's lips curled into a bitter smirk. "Yeah, well, in my dad's eyes, I might as well have. He thought miracles should come from God, not some shady cat-rat thing offering contracts." She let out a dry laugh. "But you're probably right. If there's a God out there, they've been slacking big time."

"Kyoko if I were to tell you something so breaking right now, what would you do, would you fully fall into despair or just become angry that your despair completely disappears and something more terrifying replaces it" Manaka said as he turned to look at her.

She tilted her head in confusion. "What kind of question is that?"

Manaka chuckled. "A hypothetical question ofcourse, take this into account, what if the things you've been fighting all the time are just the mere reflections of you"

Kyoko stopped walking, her face twisting into a confused frown. "Reflections of me? What the hell are you talking about?" she demanded, her voice sharp.

Manaka's expression remained calm, though there was a weight in his eyes. "Witches, Kyoko. What if they aren't just random monsters spawned from darkness? What if they're… what happens when magical girls burn out completely?"

Her breath caught for a moment. "You're messing with me."

She glared at him for a moment and Manaka started laughing. "Hahahah, yeah I was just joking with you Little magical girl.

Kyoko's expression didn't change. She crossed her arms, still suspicious, but a hint of a smile tugged at the corner of her lips. "You're a real piece of work, you know that? Messing with me like that."

Manaka's laugh died down, but his gaze remained unsettlingly calm. "It's just a thought, Kyoko. A theory. But sometimes the truth is scarier than any witch or magical contract."

Kyoko rolled her eyes, brushing off the conversation. "Yeah, well, I'm not about to sit around pondering some crazy idea like that. I've got enough to deal with without worrying if I'm gonna turn into a damn witch one day."

Manaka's lips curled into a small smile, but he said nothing. The two of them walked in silence for a few moments before Kyoko spoke again, her voice quieter now. "You know I never thought I would get along to somebody who felt like a witch and also... I'm realising what you're saying isn't too far from the truth"

Manaka raised an eyebrow, his gaze still fixed ahead. "Oh? So you're starting to see it now? The whole idea of how things can break down when you stop caring and just let it all go?"

"I don't think you can ever stop caring though" She replied with a sigh.

Manaka turned to her and placed a hand on her head. "Well that's a good thing"

Kyoko blinked, surprised by the gesture. "Hey, what are you doing?" she grumbled, though she didn't immediately pull away. "I'm not a little kid, you know."

"Yes you aren't a little kid but in the eyes of the Adults we are children" He said looking at her in the eyes.

Kyoko raised an eyebrow, her irritation mixing with curiosity. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Manaka's hand stayed on her head for a moment longer before he let it fall. He didn't answer immediately, his expression distant, as if lost in thought. Finally, he spoke, his voice quieter than before.

"In the eyes of those who've lived through the harshness of the world, we're all children. No matter how much power we think we have or how much we've suffered. We're still learning, still naive in some ways. People like you and me, we've seen things, done things… but there's always more to understand."

Kyoko scoffed. "You're just calling me naive"

"Well yes I definitely am, even I am naive anyway I'm going home and if you see my twin sister and her friend become magical girl'smake sure to go easy on them please"

Kyoko blinked, processing Manaka's words for a moment before letting out a huff. "You know, you keep talking like you're some wise old sage, but you're just as messed up as the rest of us," she muttered, her tone a mix of annoyance and understanding

Manaka rolled his eyes. "Yeah I am just being affected by a stupid mirror figurine, i should be back to normal by tomorrow"
