Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 167: 'Banter' And Approaching The Dungeon

Their walk took a surprising amount of time, and it would've been much faster had Nyzzara let them ride on her dire wolf.

Or... if she'd let them take the car.

But every time he tried to get inside the car, Nyzzara simply stopped the entire march and didn't show them the way.

Safe to say, he was pissed, and Zafira even more so.

"Hey..." He leaned in to Zafira's ear, clutching her hand a bit tighter. "Do you think she has a grudge on you?"

"Yeah..." Zafira whispered back with a sigh. "The way she looked at me after I told her she smelled bad was a dead giveaway. Honestly, I can't say I like her, but her cooperation is a good thing to have."

"Agreed." Rael nodded.

Just as he was about to separate, Zafira tightened the grip on his hand, almost as if she didn't want him to move away.

"Zafira...?"

"I'm no love detector... but I think she might like you," Zafira said in a whisper. "She's fidgeting every time you call out her name like some sort of pervert. And she seemed disappointed that you had come with a plus two."

Rael tilted his head. "And?"

"She's pretty."

"You're prettier," Rael replied with a chuckle as he suddenly leaned in beside Zafira and pinched her cheek. "I don't see her that way, Zafira. And you should know by now how I see you."

Her cheeks slightly reddened—not because he was pinching them, but because of his embarrassing statement.

"Dummy..." she muttered, taking her eyes off him as the march finally stopped.

They were in front of a giant cave entrance, and he could practically smell the stench of blood from all the way out here.

"We're here," Nyzzara announced, glaring at the two. "I heard everything you said, by the way."

"Good," Zafira said flatly. "You should know your place then."

"Do you seriously think I couldn't seduce him?" Nyzzara asked, amused. "All the men in Ogarak want to be with me, and yet, I don't even give them a chance. You wanna know why?"

"Because you like attention," Zafira replied with a shrug. "If you didn't like attention, then you'd have walked with us and the rest of your clan."

Okay... this might get a little out of hand if Zafira continues roasting her, Rael thought, holding back a laugh.

"Now now, why don't we just calm down, yeah?" Rael mediated. "Zafira and I will head inside right away."

"Hold on." Nyzzara raised her hand, shushing him as she turned back to Zafira. "You have the balls to speak to me like that. But do you think you'd be able to beat me in a duel?"

Zafira narrowed her eyes and cracked her knuckles. "Do you want to try?"

"Stop," Rael said coldly, and without even meaning to, his Primordial Sight engulfed them all, causing the entire area to fall silent.

<Your Nightmare King race has enhanced Primordial Sight's effects!>

<(Weakened) → (Intermediate)>

Immediately, Rael felt as though he had begun to perceive the world a tad bit differently.

Even his Foresight, which he normally had turned off, had somehow turned itself on. Surprisingly, it didn't feel strange anymore, and he could feel the differences clearly.

The air was rippling, and he could see Nyzzara's lips move.

Of course, following that, she finally spoke.

"...What was that?"

"I think it's his way of telling you to be quiet," Zafira added with a smirk. "Anyways, what do we do here?"

"We go in and kill monsters, Zafira," Rael said as he walked up to her, gently grabbed her hand, and slowly walked toward the cave.

"You don't need a heads-up?" Nyzzara asked, amused. "There's a very powerful monster inside."

"Well, I'm sure if you wanted us dead, then you'd have done it in a more creative way," Rael remarked with a chuckle. "You need me, so you wouldn't give me some super powerful monster, right?"

Nyzzara stared at him for a few moments before scratching her cheek. "Y-Yep. Go inside, and if anything goes wrong, we'll be here to support you. You have my word."

Another lie. Rael sighed and began leading Zafira forward. Though I guess it doesn't matter. Even in the worst-case scenario, I'll make sure we make it out of here alive.

She wasn't a damsel in distress. He only held her because her hand was warm and soft.

No other reason.

The stench of blood coming from the cave increased with each passing moment, and by now, he could no longer see the light behind him.

However, he wasn't worried as he opened the Premium Shop and purchased a simple lantern.

"That's too convenient," Zafira remarked as she reached for the lantern and began waving it around. "I'll hold it. You don't need to worry about the simple stuff. I'm here to support you, after all."

Rael's brow twitched, and he didn't know what came over him.

Without warning, he let go of her hand and scooped her up, holding her like the beautiful queen that she was.

She was so shocked she couldn't even speak as he began carrying her forward.

Inwardly, his heartbeat was increasing as he gazed at her beautiful features that had been illuminated by the bright lantern light.

Her straight white hair fell over his hand, and he couldn't help but gently brush it aside with his fingers.

Despite the confident front she was trying to put up, he could feel her heartbeat from her back, and it was beating even faster than his.

Rael took a deep breath and gently took her hand before placing it over his heart, making sure she knew exactly how he felt at the moment.

She was clearly flustered, likely not expecting him to make such moves in a place like this. But in the end, every time they were alone, Rael couldn't help but tease her.

The walk continued for a few moments, and neither of their heartbeats settled down, even after several minutes.

But at last, they arrived where they were supposed to be.

Unsurprisingly, it was a dungeon with a similar entrance to the Wolf Dungeon he had conquered a few weeks ago.

Rael gently set her down, steadying her before she could stumble, and then, with a warm smile, he glanced toward the dungeon.

Both of them were ready, so...

"Shall we?"
