Quirkless Hero

Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Towards the path of necessity

Eri was an innocent and helpless child who had to be saved.

All Might and the police, constrained by the law, couldn't bring [Shie Hassaikai] to justice. That was inevitable.

For the sake of stability in hero society and to prevent further losses, the adults had to make reasonable decisions. To maintain societal peace, they had to follow the law, even if it meant giving up on one person.

Midoriya understood this well. He agreed with All Might and the police's actions—protecting the stability of society through the rule of law was more important than saving one individual.

But...

He couldn't tolerate what [Shie Hassaikai] had done. They hurt Eri, an innocent and pitiful little girl, and used the law and unsuspecting citizens as their shield. Such vile and disgusting tactics were unbearable.

Justice that heroes and the police couldn't carry out needed to be done by someone. The innocent couldn't be allowed to suffer any longer.

So, he decided to be the missing piece of the puzzle.

Removing his foot from Chisaki's head, Midoriya kicked him over onto his back.

"Your Quirk requires your hands to activate, doesn't it?"

"What are you talking about?!"

Chisaki's confusion and alarm didn't last long. Midoriya showed him exactly what he meant.

The steel wires wrapped around Chisaki tightened and moved like blades. In one swift motion, they severed both of Chisaki's arms at the elbows, sending them to the ground.

"AAAAAAHHHH!"

Chisaki let out a bloodcurdling scream, his body convulsing in agony. Before he could lose consciousness, the wires tightened around his severed arms, cutting off the blood flow to prevent him from bleeding out.

"Go tell the heroes and the police about what I've done."

Midoriya didn't blink as he stared at the writhing Chisaki. He picked up the severed arms with the steel wires, holding them in his hand.

"These are the evidence of your Quirk and my actions. I'm keeping them."

Without a glance back, Midoriya turned and headed for the exit of the underground passage, signaling the end of this confrontation.

"You... you bastard! What are you trying to do?!"

Chisaki, overcome with pain, crawled on the ground, shouting at Midoriya. This despicable kid—what did he mean by all this? His actions could no longer be called "heroic."

"What is it?"

Midoriya didn't look back. He walked toward the exit and casually replied to Chisaki:

"I'm just doing the same thing as you."

"Damn it..."

Midoriya's words felt like mockery, igniting a deep anger in Chisaki. He couldn't believe someone would be foolish enough to do all this for a little girl they didn't even know. Heroes—they're all just a bunch of idiots!

As Midoriya left, Chisaki lay on the ground, silent, his hands gone. Suddenly, black mist appeared in midair, forming a [Portal].

"Excellent, truly excellent!"

A man stepped out of Kurogiri's [Portal] with a smile on his face, his voice full of praise.

"I never expected Midoriya to make such a choice. As expected, the 'future' seen by Nighteye is truly fascinating. I can't wait to witness that moment myself."

The leader of the [League of Villains], All For One, had arrived. He had been watching Midoriya Izuku's actions all along. However, since it wasn't All Might involved, he hadn't needed to step in personally—until now.

"[League of Villains]!"

Chisaki seethed with rage. These untrustworthy people hadn't shown up at all. According to the original plan, All Might was supposed to fall into the trap, and All For One would face the No. 1 hero. Yet, despite Midoriya Izuku causing such a commotion, the [League of Villains] members never appeared.

"Why didn't you show up earlier?!"

"Apologies, Chisaki. This operation was a failure. All Might didn't come here."

All For One answered calmly, reminding Chisaki that he had only promised to confront All Might, not Midoriya Izuku.

"And besides, in your current state, you can't even use your Quirk, can you?"

As he spoke, All For One's right hand transformed into metallic tendrils that extended into Chisaki's body. He activated his Quirk to steal.

"Your Quirk is impressive. I'll take care of it from here."

"You bastard!"

Chisaki erupted in fury, hurling curses at All For One, who merely responded with indifference:

"Come now... We're all villains here. Isn't betrayal just part of the game?"

——————————

Having left the [Shie Hassaikai] compound, Midoriya Izuku found himself walking through the quiet streets late at night. The streets were empty, and the criminal organization had been completely wiped out.

Reaching the alley where it all began, Midoriya stuffed Chisaki's severed arms into his backpack and pulled out his phone.

Checking the time and the dark night sky, Midoriya muttered to himself:

"It's probably daytime in America right now."

He dialed a number to contact his father, who worked in the United States. At times like this, a child who had made a mistake could only turn to their father for help. He couldn't let his mother get involved.

"...This should do it..."

After hanging up, Midoriya sighed. His unauthorized actions would undoubtedly have serious consequences. The last thing he wanted was for his mother to get hurt because of him. He had to make up for it.

By asking his father to convince his mother to join him in America, Midoriya could ensure her safety. With Midoriya living in U.A.'s dorms, she didn't have much to worry about at home. Though it pained him to deceive his mother, Midoriya believed it was the only way. Sending his mom, Inko, to reunite with his dad in the U.S. would ease the biggest burden on his heart.

"From here on, I'll leave it to All Might..."

Dialing the number of the hero he admired most, Midoriya Izuku had already paved the way for the heroes and the police. Now, it was their turn to uphold justice and enforce the law.

In the Night Eye Agency, All Might and Night Eye were staring at each other with wide eyes. There was a reason they had to do this.

All Might wanted to help Eri, the poor child, and had originally planned to sneak out at night to reveal the true faces of the Shie Hassaikai gang. However, Night Eye had already seen through his plan.

"All Might, you're not leaving tonight. I need your help with something!"

Night Eye forcibly found an excuse to keep All Might in his office. He wasn't going to let the "symbol of peace" do something foolish. The stability and peace of society rested on him.

The result was that they were staring at each other, All Might glaring at Night Eye in anger, while Night Eye stared at him, refusing to let him escape. The two were locked in a stalemate.

Suddenly, All Might's phone rang. Although he didn't know who would be calling this late at night, he immediately picked it up.

"Is it Midoriya?"

Seeing that it was Midoriya Izuku calling, All Might quickly answered the phone. This kid must have something important to talk to him about.

"Hello, Midoriya, what's going on?"

"All Might… I'm counting on you next…"
