Progenitor Vampire: I Have Many Skills!

Chapter 548 Fighting off multiple devourers

548  Fighting off multiple devourers

It was a short exchange that was enough to astound all the devourers.

"You are a curious vampire." Said one of them, visibly amazed.

"Oh? Haven't you seen vampires like me before?"

"You don't fight like a vampire. Maybe you're the crazy guy with the spear? That guy may be the only one who uses kicks and such; besides, he's the only one who would dare to fight without vampiric power against us."

"No, he's not the spear guy. I saw him once, and he didn't look like him. Besides, the spear guy doesn't fight without his spear."

"Right..."

"So a battle-worthy vampire showed up? He's fighting hand to hand without vampiric power and still manages to match or surpass our natural abilities."

"Maybe..."

Matthew frowned quickly. "Can you guys stop talking shit and fight? I don't give a shit if this is the first time you've seen someone like me. I came here to kill beasts and devourers; I didn't come here to play."

The devourers frowned at being interrupted like that. "Tsk, how rude. You certainly are a vampire." Complained one of them.

They all agreed with him, so they raised their weapons.

"It's curious to see a different vampire, so I hope you're worthy of our words towards you. Give us an interesting battle."

Matthew sneered. "I just hope you guys can take, at least, 10 hits. Those beasts back there held up to 20; the last one held up to hundreds; how much will you guys hold up?" He beckoned them with his fingers to come closer.

Once again, another of the physical attack devourers arrived in front of Matthew to strike him, and a bloody battle ensued, during which bones creaked and broke.

A vampire with no vampiric power in the midst of a small pack of powerful devourers in this cold place was a curious sight. Even the nearby birds were curious yet frightened.

Matthew's strikes were cunning, and he mixed his legs with his arms to take the various devourers by surprise, but the reality was that it was a battle of a different magnitude. Several of his bones were broken after so many blows, plus the magical attacks of these guys hit him with ferocity, burning him in various parts of his body.

His clothes were slowly wearing out and burning after so many attacks, but he continued to fight.

The first one he killed punched a hole in the chest after hitting him a dozen times with precision, and the second one he kicked hard enough to knock his head off with one blow. This one was a mage who positioned himself wrong.

Still, this battle made him realize how dangerous the devourers were as a race. We are talking about a race that is like a tank, incredibly tough and with extremely tough flesh. At the same time, it is a race capable of using magic or even vampire abilities, as they can steal them.

It is an amazing race, but now that he has recovered some of his memories, he is sure they were not in the ancient era.

'Where did they come from? One of the races that fought for supremacy?' Although he had a feeling he had been asking that question recently, this time, it was different. He witnessed firsthand the danger these beasts could present when they are literally tough, magical vampires who seem to have a twisted personality from birth.

But the thing is, he has no answers to his questions.

And his recent research has been unsatisfactory regarding these guys.

Suddenly, he slapped the hand of the leader of the devourers, who was brutally wounded and breathing heavily. Of his companions, there was only one left, a mage.

He couldn't help but stare in amazement at the corpses of his companions on the ground and then look at Matthew.

"How are you so tough?"

Although Matthew was wounded as well, he had terrific healing, so his wounds were healing quickly to the naked eye. But the most fantastic thing in the sight of the devourers was his incredible resistance.

He was able to fight all of them at the same time and kill most of them, leaving only 2 of them, for over 45 minutes, AND they hadn't even been able to tear off an arm or a finger!

Not even a finger!

He had recently been fighting strong beasts, which held up quite well, so he had been fighting for 1 hour straight and still had stamina. That made no sense in the minds of both devourers.

The leader, the most powerful and capable of them all, was already exhausted. His arms ached, and he could barely stand. Not even by activating his body skills could he beat off a finger from the man in front of him. The most he did was break a few bones, which meant nothing right now.

Matthew smiled.

"I wonder the same thing. Your race is strange. Not only can they have abilities and magics, but they're also adamant as a rock. What's the secret? Where do you guys come from?"

"Hmph, even if I'm dying, a stupid vampire will never get information out of me."

"Hehe, I figured."

After that small talk, the devourer glared at Matthew. He suddenly stomped the ground, creating a small earthquake and kicking up a pile of dust. Then he jumped forward.

"Attack with everything you've got; don't mind hitting me!" With that shout, he reached to Matthew's side and tried to grab him from behind.

From the outside, the devouring mage growled and used his last vestiges of mana to cast his fire magic: "Corporeal Explosion!" A huge fire magic, compressed to the size of a fist, flew out at high speed, followed by a fireball, and burrowed through that pile of dust until it suddenly exploded.

The devourer did not rest and continued to attack with his fireballs and different explosions to make his first magic more effective. The explosions raised even more smoke, but suddenly, all the magic stopped exploding.

Within those explosions, Matthew raised both hands. One hand formed a grip on the neck of the devourer in front of him, and the other created a small wall of strange energy.

At first, the fireballs and other external attacks hit there, but little by little, he began to hold them back, as if they had stopped in time.

The devourer looked at this in shock.

"You... Who the hell are you?"
