Progenitor Vampire: I Have Many Skills!

Chapter 542 Paul Dreweed (1)

542  Paul Dreweed (1)

"Where the hell is Cecily!?" he shouted toward the entire mansion. His voice shook the massive structure, which towered with power over a city.

Several people came running in shortly after, heads down.

"I'm sorry, Lord Egon. We haven't seen her in several days."

Egon's chest was rising and falling furiously. Whatever her reason for doing so, he had to know.

As he was about to speak up to insult them, the newcomers quickly lowered their heads.

"Sir, I think we know of someone who might know. The last time we saw her, she was talking to him, and they have always gotten along well; maybe he has information about it."

Egon then didn't say all he wanted to say and instead frowned.

"You mean..."

"Yes, sir. The Head Butler."

Egon nodded, finding that reasonable.

'Paul Dreweed was the one who raised her most of her life...' He thought.

Then he spoke to them. "Bring Paul Dreweed here."

These men nodded quickly. "I think you'd better go yourself. Although he is the Head Butler, he has long since been off duty and serves only Lady Cecily. I'm afraid bringing him here won't be possible for us; we don't have enough status."

Egon frowned and realized what was happening. Paul Dreweed may not have known about Cecily either, but these people were saying this to emphasize that Paul Dreweed's position remained immovable despite his no longer being on duty.

This is something that even Cynfael and Leader Becker, who were on the side, could see.

Perhaps blaming Paul Dreweed for something like this, in a moment of Egon's mental instability, might cause Egon to be stripped of his positions, but Egon was not stupid. He was angry, but he wasn't an idiot.

He walked toward them and put his hand on the shoulder of two of them, smiling.

"Let that be the last time you try to play stupid in front of me. Next time, all your families will be exterminated." He said coldly, then walked out of the room, followed by the other two leaders.

Those who remained in the room were shaking, almost peeing themselves from what they heard, but they were so afraid of what might happen to them that they started to run quickly out of Egon's sight.

Egon walked through the mansion until he reached the back mountains.

He walked to the place where Paul should be. Although Paul was only a servant of the Family, he was not just any servant.

He belonged to an ancient family of Stewards serving the Edevane Clan. In addition, Paul had a special status as the one who was present at the childhood of several of the Heirs of Clan Edevane.

It is approximate that new heirs appear every 300 years. Sometimes, it is more; it is never less. Paul Dreweed has been present in three generations of Heirs so far, helping in the upbringing of Egon's father, training Egon himself, and being practically the only one who raised Cecily.

He is a man who, despite being a Butler, is strong on a personal level and also has an incredible status in the hearts of the clan members. That's why going to see him personally was not uncommon.

After walking for a while without uttering a word, where only their annoyance could be felt in the atmosphere, the three of them arrived at Paul Dreweed's small house.

It was a small cottage in one of the mountains behind Edevane City.

Paul Dreweed was sitting quietly in the yard, leaning back in a movable chair, making it look as if he was asleep, but he opened his eyes when he felt the presence of Egon and those two other powerful people nearby.

"Boy, if you come looking for information from my little Cecily, you'd better turn around. You won't get it from me." He said and closed his eyes again.

Egon didn't take it as an offense. He smiled.

"Sir Paul, I understand your stance with Cecily, but this time, she signed an agreement that puts the whole family on the ropes. We're talking about..."

"Talk about supporting the Allens." Paul himself completed the sentence, interrupting Egon in the process. "That? No one supports the Allens; you support the individual who was honored, whose last name is not Allen. My little girl signed up because she'd like to meet him. Wouldn't you like them to meet? They are possibly the two most talented people our race has had in millions of years. They could show us the greatest spectacle we could ever appreciate if they both meet."

Egon frowned. "I understand what you mean, Sir Paul. But this time, that signing should not have happened. That's why I need to talk to Cecily; if she has a plan, then I wish to know."

Paul Dreweed shook his head. "Then go ask her. If you can guess where she is, of course."

"Sir Paul, I came because I know you know. Normally, you're the only one who knows his movements. This time, the situation is an emergency."

"Sigh. I told you before that you won't get any information from me. Go back; I want to sleep."

Egon frowned even more at this. He was already angry, so the fact that a Butler refused to answer his questions made him even angrier.

So much so that he let his power escape his body and launched an attack into the surroundings, knocking down one of the small huts in the place, the one that gave Paul a different view of the landscape, perhaps the most memorable one for him.

Paul opened his eyes and looked at the place, frowning. "It was 100,000-year-old wood from the forests of the dragon territory. A wood that took my late wife 300 years to obtain." He spoke.

"Hmph, Paul Dreweed, I will always respect you for your service to the Clan. But, this time, I don't need to show you respect. The situation has gotten out of hand because of Cecily's decision; I need an answer!" he growled fiercely.

Paul Dreweed was still staring at the destroyed wood, feeling nostalgic as he sighed.

"Did you know that there are decisions we can regret making? Those regrets always become a thorn in our side, and we think about how, if we had done things differently, we could have prevented that event from happening." He said suddenly.
