With his goals accomplished, Kai returned to the farm that same afternoon, four Poliwag in tow.
The first thing he did was check on Moltres and the egg inside the incubator it was dutifully "guarding." Moltres was fast asleep, its fiery plumage flickering faintly.
Mimikyu, who had been lurking in the shadows of the farmhouse, approached to report.
During Kai's absence, Moltres had done nothing but eat and sleep, showing no suspicious behaviour.
Pleased, Kai gave Mimikyu a reassuring pat on the head and promised it a feast that evening. Then, with Luxray following, he headed to the farm's agricultural zone.
By the fields, Serperior was lazily entertaining the two Cottonee, using its vines to form amusing shapes.
Meanwhile, Eldegoss patrolled the crops, ensuring no pests or weeds had made their way into the fields.
Hearing Kai's footsteps, Serperior immediately abandoned its vine games and slithered gracefully toward him.
"Back already?" Serperior hissed softly, its tone smug yet welcoming.
"Yep, I'm back. Thanks for watching the fields. There's a feast tonight, so get ready to eat your fill," Kai said with a smile. Serperior coiled its tail playfully around his fingers but didn't let on.
Kai called out to Eldegoss, "Great work, Eldegoss! Take a break and make sure you come to the feast later."
Eldegoss waved happily before continuing its rounds.
Kai proceeded to notify the rest of his team. Swampert was overseeing the newly filled lake zone, Ceruledge was practising swordsmanship on a nearby hill, and Dragonite was, contrary to its reputation napping in the farmhouse rather than flying.
By the evening, the whole team had gathered in the backyard of the farmhouse for a barbecue party.
Meanwhile, Kai prepared the second giant claw, steaming it to perfection and dividing it into fifteen portions.
Amid the lively preparations, Kai released the four Poliwag from their Poké Balls.
"Polii?"
"Polii?"
"Polii?"
The three smaller Poliwags huddled nervously behind their leader, glancing curiously at their new surroundings.
They quickly realized Kai had told the truth this farm was a haven where strong Pokémon coexisted peacefully.
Their awe peaked when they spotted Moltres, its fiery presence utterly majestic and intimidating.
The barbecue and steamed crab were ready in no time. Kai handed out portions to each Pokémon before sitting cross-legged on the ground with his own.
Moltres sceptically picked up a skewer of grilled mushrooms. After one bite, its eyes lit up with delight.
The spicy seasoning perfectly complemented the earthy mushrooms, and the crab meat that followed was a revelation.
Its sweet, tender flavour was unlike anything Moltres had ever tasted. For a Pokémon accustomed to consuming volcanic energy and the occasional berry, this feast was a game-changer.
A thought crossed its mind: staying here might not be so bad if it meant enjoying meals like this.
The rest of Kai's team had similar reactions. The Poliwag, meanwhile, were so overwhelmed by the delicious food that tears welled up in their eyes.
They were certain that entrusting themselves to Kai was the best decision they'd ever made.

Three days later, the water channel connecting the wild lake to Kai's farm was completed. Swampert handled most of the heavy lifting, using brute strength to dig the channel, while Serperior wove a durable net from its vines to prevent unwanted Pokémon or fish from entering Thunder Lake.
Although Thunder Lake was modest in size, averaging only 3.5 meters deep and spanning about five acres, it was enough for now.
Kai believed that with time and effort, he could expand it into a proper lake worthy of its name.
Once the lake was filled, the four Poliwag moved in immediately. Despite the presence of the intimidating Swampert, they adapted quickly to their new home and eagerly anticipated the addition of more species to the lake.
Meanwhile, in the agricultural zone, progress was evident. The strawberry plants had started to bud, with a few flowers already blooming.
Tomatoes, eggplants, cabbages, and cucumbers were also thriving, with tiny cucumbers beginning to form. Eldegoss's efforts in nurturing the crops had paid off, and everything was growing on schedule.
With the lake and fields running smoothly, Kai shifted his attention to the pasture zone. Swampert cleared the area using Earthquakes, flattening weeds and breaking up rocks.
Then, the team planted edible grass seeds, which germinated rapidly thanks to the fertile soil and a timely evening rain.

By the sixth day, tender green shoots covered the pasture, promising a lush field in just a week. Kai planned to buy Pokémon suited for grazing, such as Miltank, Mareep, or Skiddo.
After selling the treasures he'd gathered on his recent excursion, he earned 12,000 Pokédollars. Even after restocking food supplies, he had 55,000 left, enough to make a few new purchases.
With only three days left before he started his new job at Naranja Academy, everything seemed to be progressing smoothly.

On the morning of the sixth day, Kai was abruptly awakened by a piercing cry that echoed through the farm.
Sharing his room with Luxray, Dragonite, Mimikyu, and Serperior, all of whom were also startled awake, Kai's heart raced.
He quickly identified the source of the sound: the backyard, where Moltres and the incubator were.
Barely stopping to throw on proper clothes, Kai rushed downstairs with his Pokémon in tow, heading straight for Moltres's shelter.
There, beneath the makeshift canopy, Moltres stood frozen, staring at the glowing incubator with wide, panicked eyes.
Beads of sweat rolled down its face as it watched the egg flash rhythmically with light.
Moltes looked utterly baffled. 'Did I just accidentally hatch this egg?! It thought. What if Kai thinks I broke it and comes after me with all his Pokémon?!'
In this moment, both Moltres and Kai were consumed by the same emotion:
Panic.
