"Earthquake!"

"Teleport!" Chris almost shouted, giving two orders in quick succession.

Garchomp slammed its powerful foot into the ground, sending tremors surging outward. The fractured earth erupted into chaos, and a shockwave rippled through the area with devastating force!

Simultaneously, Gardevoir used Teleport, transporting Chris and Garchomp to the spot where the ten Magnezones had been moments before.

"Another Earthquake!"

The two seismic waves combined, creating an overwhelming force that obliterated everything in their path.

For a moment, Chris's vision was filled with notifications:

[Defeated Manectric LV52, Garchomp gains 4877 experience.]

[Defeated Electivire LV55, Garchomp gains 5762 experience.]

No Electric-type Pokémon could withstand the double Earthquake—not unless they had Flying capabilities. In the underground power plant, none of the Electric-types possessed a Flying Type or the ability Levitate to avoid the onslaught.

With Garchomp clearing the way, Chris confidently made his way back to the office.

The room was in ruins, the ground cracked and shattered. Every Electric-type Pokémon in the vicinity lay defeated.

Chris began capturing them one by one with Poké Balls. Wild Pokémon at such high levels—over 50—were a rare find. He planned to send them all to Professor Birch for analysis. Besides, some of these Pokémon might be holding valuable items. Even ordinary loot could turn out to be treasures.

"Let's move," Chris commanded, leading Garchomp down the planned route at a measured pace.

This underground power plant, operating at full capacity, was clearly beyond ordinary expectations.

From behind, more Electric Pokémon arrived—either drawn by the Earthquake or attacking on a set schedule. Whatever the case, it was clear that more foes were on the way.

Every Pokémon Chris encountered was at least level 50. He couldn't help but wonder—what level would the final boss be?

He speculated that level 60 might be a reasonable estimate, but the boss's strength could far exceed that. To prepare, Chris resolved to eliminate all other Pokémon in the power plant before facing the final boss. He couldn't afford interference during the climactic battle.

Taking out his Dowsing Machine, Chris began scanning the area.

The device instantly pointed in a fixed direction, the needle steady and unwavering.

This indicated an exceptionally rare treasure nearby. The last time Chris had seen the Dowsing Machine react this strongly was when it detected the fabled Sleeping Cocoon.

"Could there be a legendary Pokémon item here?" Chris mused, his excitement building. If a legendary item was present, it could mean a legendary Pokémon was nearby—perhaps one like Jirachi in its cocoon.

Memories of playing Pokémon Emerald revisions flashed in his mind. Many custom versions loved hiding legendary Electric Pokémon in the depths of the power plant. Pokémon like Zapdos, Raikou…

Chris felt a shiver run down his spine—not of fear, but pure exhilaration.

"Could I finally encounter a legendary Pokémon in this world?" he whispered to himself, his heartbeat quickening.

Legendary Pokémon weren't just rare—they were forces of nature, beings of myth whose power often came at great cost in the world's history.

As Chris and Garchomp advanced, the power plant grew more perilous. The number of Electric Pokémon increased, and their strength surged the closer they got to the heart of the facility.

Every time Garchomp used Earthquake, the Pokémon retaliated, but Gardevoir would Teleport Garchomp back to safety before any attacks landed.

The synergy between Garchomp and Gardevoir was flawless. Together, they were unstoppable, cutting through waves of opponents with ease.

Chris marveled at Garchomp's might, enhanced by the strategic use of Teleport. It was like commanding an invincible army charging through enemy lines.

After countless battles, Garchomp leveled up, reaching level 53.

And that was with experience being shared with Steelix.

To prepare for the Fortree Gym challenge, Chris had recently equipped Steelix with an Exp. Share.

His plan was to pair Steelix with Tyranitar to form a formidable Sandstorm team, perfect for countering the Flying-type Pokémon of Fortree Gym. While Steelix itself wasn't a Rock-type, it had mastered several Rock-type moves. Combined with its Steel-typing for added resistance, it was an excellent choice for the task.

Over an hour passed as Chris and Garchomp systematically cleared the underground power plant. With the area secured and his excitement for a legendary Pokémon still burning, Chris approached the power source's location.

However, no Pokémon awaited him there.

Instead, where a wall should have stood was a portal. It shimmered, torn open by streaks of crimson lightning. Its twisted, unstable appearance made it seem ready to collapse at any moment.

Chris pulled out the Dowsing Machine, which pointed unwaveringly at the portal.

"There's another room beyond here!" Chris murmured, narrowing his eyes. Without hesitation, he stepped closer to the Portal.

Even if it went wrong, he figured the worst-case scenario would be waking up back at his seaside villa.

He entered without a second thought.

On the other side, the scenery shifted dramatically. Chris found himself in an enormous, well-lit space. The ground beneath his feet was solid stone, gleaming like polished ore, and all around, lightning crackled and danced across the walls.

The map identified the area as "Between Thunder."

A single path stretched from where Chris stood to a high platform at the center of the vast space.

Atop the platform sat a transparent orb, about the size of a billiard ball. Inside the orb, electricity sparked and surged, continuously dancing in a mesmerizing display.

The Dowsing Machine confirmed it—that was the treasure.

"Is there no legendary Pokémon here?" Chris wondered aloud, his eyes scanning the massive chamber. But no Pokémon, electric or otherwise, seemed to be present.

His focus shifted back to the orb.

Chris stepped forward and reached for it, the bead's strange familiarity tugging at his memory. As he held it, he tilted it in the light, examining the perpetual storm of sparks within.

"Ugh!"

A piercing screech tore through the air above him before he could identify the orb's origin.

Chris instinctively looked up.

Descending swiftly was a massive, electrifying presence.

The creature landed before him with a thunderous crackle. Its piercing eyes locked with Chris's, its fury palpable.

The Pokémon's defining features were unmistakable: its slender yellow beak, lightning-shaped wings, spiky, electrified plumage, and a massive body pulsating with dark red electricity.

Above its head, a name and level glowed faintly:

Zapdos LV89.

Chris froze as the murderous aura radiating from Zapdos's gaze bore into him.

"Ah… this is way too early!" Chris stammered, breaking into a nervous sweat.

Zapdos screeched again.

"Zizzizizi!!"

Sparks exploded around the chamber as the legendary bird prepared to attack.
