The underground power plant buzzed with an ominous hum. Chris, accompanied by his trusty Garchomp, had ventured deep into this eerie dungeon. Leading the charge, the Level 50 Garchomp exuded confidence, ready to tackle any Electric-type Pokémon they encountered. Despite the power plant's foreboding reputation, Chris hadn't seen anything close to Level 50 Pokémon so far, let alone Level 60. This discrepancy made the dungeon's suggested entry level of "?" even more intriguing.

The layout of the underground power plant wasn't particularly complex. After wandering for over half an hour, Chris had a solid understanding of its structure. Along the way, he managed to pick up a variety of useful items, including a treasure-level Electirizer—a key evolution item for Electabuzz to evolve into Electivire.

The Pokémon inhabiting the plant were primarily members of the Magnezone family, followed closely by Voltorb and Electrode. Elekid occasionally appeared, offering a tempting choice as a potential Electric-type addition. However, Chris already had an Electric Pokémon prepared to counter Fortree City's Electric Gym, making it unnecessary to train a new one. Even so, he had captured five Elekids during his exploration, though none were promising candidates for further training.

At long last, Chris reached the end of the dungeon: the main power supply room. The space hummed with raw energy, and at its center, a towering Electivire stood connected to the machinery. Its twin tails, which functioned like wires, were plugged into the generator, absorbing electricity at an alarming rate. Something was wrong—the currents coursing through Electivire's body shimmered with unnatural red and black hues.

Sensing Chris's presence, Electivire turned abruptly, its blood-red eyes glaring with unbridled aggression. Letting out a guttural growl, it yanked its tails free from the machinery. Sparks of crimson and thunder-colored electricity crackled across its body as it lunged at Chris.

"Finally, a sign of berserk behavior," Chris muttered, observing the frenzied Pokémon. He had noticed the other Pokémon in the dungeon were abnormally aggressive, but this Electivire was the first to show clear signs of losing control.

"Garchomp, Earthquake!" Chris commanded confidently.

"Garchomp!" With a mighty cry, the Ground and Dragon-type Pokémon slammed its claws into the floor, sending seismic waves rippling through the room.

Electivire's instincts hadn't completely abandoned it. Sensing the oncoming danger, it leaped into the air, narrowly avoiding the Earthquake. As it descended, its right hand glowed with electrical energy, preparing a Thunder Punch.

Chris shook his head. "Looks like it's lost some of its battle smarts—an Electric move against a Ground-type?"

"Garchomp, Dragon Claw!" Chris countered without hesitation.

Dark green energy surged around Garchomp's claws as it met the airborne Electivire. The two collided mid-air, and with a decisive blow, Garchomp's Dragon Claw struck Electivire square in the chest, sending it hurtling into the wall.

"Quick Attack! Don't let up!" Chris ordered.

Garchomp, streamlined and swift, closed the gap between them in a flash. Electivire, dazed but not defeated, raised its arms and conjured a shimmering Protect barrier. The shield materialized just in time, but it was no match for the raw power of Garchomp's Dragon Claw. The move shattered the barrier with a resounding bang, and the follow-through sent Electivire slamming back into the wall.

When the dust settled, Electivire slumped to the ground, its body lifeless and incapacitated.

[Defeated Electivire LV49. Garchomp gained 4002 experience points.]

Chris let out a small sigh of relief. This battle confirmed the unnatural forces at play in the power plant. Something—or someone—was tampering with the electricity, and he was determined to get to the bottom of it.

Chris reached for a Poké Ball, locking his gaze on the exhausted Electivire. "This one's level is decent," he mused, weighing its potential. With a swift throw, the Poké Ball encapsulated the fainted Pokémon in a flash of red light. The device wobbled slightly before clicking shut with finality. Electivire, acknowledging Garchomp's overwhelming power, had chosen not to resist further.

Chris retrieved the Poké Ball and opened his handheld device to analyze Electivire's stats.

[Electivire (Electric)]

Level: 49

Ability: Motor Drive (Immune to Electric-type moves, increases Speed by one stage when hit by one.)

Individual Values (IVs):

Hp: 18 Attack: 21 Special Attack: 31 Defense: 22 Special Defense: 31 Speed: 25

Moves:

Quick Attack, Leer, Thunder Shock, Charge, Swift, Shock Wave, Dig, Thunder Wave, Screech, Thunder Punch, Thunderbolt, Discharge, Low Kick

Held Item: Electirizer

"Special Attack and Special Defense are both maxed out," Chris noted, impressed. "Not bad, but Electivire leans heavily toward physical attacking, and these stats aren't optimal for that." He shrugged. "Still, it could be useful. Maybe Professor Birch could use it to power his lab—he'd appreciate saving on electricity bills."

With his decision made, Chris stored the Poké Ball and surveyed the room. Spotting a plain Thunder Stone on the floor, he pocketed it. There didn't seem to be any other items of interest.

"Garchomp, shut down the power supply," Chris instructed.

Garchomp nodded, slamming its claw into the main power switch. The room plunged into darkness, and a flash of light signaled Chris's teleportation back to the balcony outside the power plant.

His handheld screen lit up with new information:

[Special Dungeon "Runaway Underground Power Station" (Completed)]

Reward: Zap Gem

"That's it?" Chris muttered, examining the reward. The Zap Gem wasn't particularly rare. It was a one-time-use item that increased the power of the next Electric move by 30%. However, this being a treasure-tier Zap Gem, it offered a 50% boost instead.

"Not too bad," Chris concluded, though he expected something more exciting. Curious, he turned back to the power plant. Upon approaching, a prompt appeared:

[Yes/No: Re-enter the special dungeon "Runaway Underground Power Station"?]

[Recommended entry level:?]

[Current charge progress: 5%]

Chris raised an eyebrow. "Power charge progress at 5%? Does that mean each run increases the charge by 5%?" He stroked his chin thoughtfully. "If so, what happens when it hits 100%?"

Determined to uncover the mystery, Chris stepped forward. "Let's keep going and find out what lies at full power."

With a flick of his wrist, he adjusted his gear and prepared for another plunge into the unknown depths of the power station. Garchomp growled in anticipation, ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
