Chapter 183: So Why Did Yveltal Change Its Mind?
The two Legendary Pokémon locked eyes for a moment before Xerneas said, "Let's head back."
Angie asked curiously, "Aren't you going to talk to each other?"
Xerneas replied, "We've said all we needed to."
Angie: That's it? The way you Legendary Pokémon communicate is really unique.
When Angie and the others returned home, Inteleon came back from the royal city with Meowstic and the others.
Seeing this, Angie said, "Let's start making lunch!"
With that, Angie took Munchlax into the kitchen.
Since Inteleon had been busy all morning at the shop, Angie let it take a break and didn't involve it in cooking lunch.
Likewise, Gengar, who would be busy at the shop that evening, was spared from cooking.
As Munchlax Home gained more fame, business in the evenings had also become bustling. Gengar worked just as hard as Inteleon and needed to conserve energy for the evening rush.
Soon, Angie and Munchlax had prepared a table full of dishes.
There were fragrant pan-fried fish fillets, made from the extra meat provided by the Veluza. Fried to golden perfection on the outside and snowy white inside, the aroma alone was enough to make mouths water.
Next were steamed egg dumplings, with dumpling skins made from the egg whites of Chansey's egg and a filling of home-raised pork mixed with spring onions grown by Farfetch'd.
The pork had been marinated in a small amount of fermented bean paste, and once steamed, the flavor was so delicious it could make anyone's taste buds dance.
Then there was stir-fried green beans with diced beef, where vibrant green beans were mixed with brown beef cubes, creating a visually pleasing dish.
Since Angie didn't raise many cows, and they weren't old enough to be eaten, the beef was purchased at a high price from the royal city. It was top-tier quality, reportedly imported from the Alola region.
Before stir-frying, Angie had marinated the beef cubes with homemade fermented bean paste, ensuring an unbelievably rich and savory taste.
There was also the classic tomato and egg stir-fry, using tomatoes from Angie's garden and Chansey's eggs. Though it was a common dish, the vibrant red and yellow dish looked appetizing and flavorful.
In addition, there were sweet and sour ribs, stir-fried eggplant strips, smashed cucumbers, garlic stir-fried water spinach, three-treasure stir-fry, tofu casserole, and more.
Mew gazed at the spread, practically drooling.
At home, Angie had cooked it lavish meals before, but due to limited resources, the meals couldn't be as extravagant as this.
For Xerneas, the usual Tree of Beginning Tofu was prepared. It could mix it with the other dishes if it liked.
As for Yveltal, Angie had set aside a portion of the meal, planning to deliver it later. After all, it hadn't returned yet.
Yveltal's routine involved flying freely in the mornings, returning for lunch, and then resting until evening.
At night, it would soar through the skies, accompanied by Honchkrow and Murkrow, only returning to the bar at dawn.
After the hearty lunch, Xerneas went out to play with Diancie and Magearna, while Munchlax and Inteleon wandered off somewhere.
Meanwhile, Gengar, needing to work that evening, stayed in the kitchen to prepare ingredients.
As for Komala, it left immediately after finishing its meal and headed to the brewery with Passimian. Ever since Passimian arrived on the Nebel Plateau, it practically lived in the brewery.
The Metagross returned to its room to maintain the Nebel Plateau's payment system. Metagross performed routine checks on the system periodically to prevent issues and ensure smooth operation.
In addition, it was experimenting with new features to expand the system's functionality and broaden its business scope.
As for Volcanion, it wandered off for a stroll after lunch, moving leisurely like an old grandfather.
In the end, only the cheerful Pawmot remained by Angie's side.
With baskets in hand, Angie and Pawmot headed off together to deliver lunch to Yveltal.
When they arrived at the bar's entrance, Mew suddenly announced its departure.
Although Mew was playful and a foodie, it hadn't forgotten its mission: to guard the Tree of Beginning and protect the Pokémon living within it.
Angie felt neither reluctance nor sadness. There was no need. With the spatial tunnel, Mew could visit whenever it wanted, and Angie could go see it just as easily.
Patting Mew on the head, Angie said, "Go on now. I'll come to see you when I get the chance."
"Mew~"
Mew nodded, then dived into the spatial tunnel and vanished.
Angie and Pawmot had just set the lunch on the table when Yveltal returned, accompanied by Honchkrow and its flock of Murkrow.
Seeing how the Murkrow and Honchkrow flanked Yveltal like loyal followers, Angie chuckled and remarked, "So, you've all become Yveltal's underlings now?"
"Honchkrow~"
"Murkrow~ Murkrow~"
Honchkrow and the Murkrow puffed up their chests with pride, showing no shame in serving as Yveltal's attendants.
Angie patted Honchkrow's neck and teased, "Didn't think you'd see the day."
Before Yveltal's arrival, Honchkrow had acted like a boss, with the Murkrow tirelessly doing its bidding. Now the roles had reversed, and Honchkrow found itself in the same position as the Murkrow.
"Honchkrow~"
Honchkrow raised its head arrogantly, as if to say, Matters between gods and their followers are none of your business.
It then flitted to Yveltal's side and began attentively serving it tea, food, and snacks. The Murkrow imitated Honchkrow's actions, showering Yveltal with meticulous care.
Yveltal didn't need to lift a talon to eat. It simply lay there while the Murkrow and Honchkrow fed it with utmost diligence.
A few Murkrow were even tasked with grooming Yveltal's feathers.
Soon, Angie understood why the Murkrow and Honchkrow were so eager to serve Yveltal.
After finishing its meal, Yveltal released wisps of black energy from its body.
The dark energy flowed down, forming a two-meter-wide circle on the sofa and floor. Inside the circle, the black mist churned, radiating strong Dark-type energy waves.
Is this... a dark aura? Angie was startled.
The Honchkrow and Murkrow cheered, jumping into the circle to absorb the black energy. They hopped around excitedly as the mist seeped into their bodies.
After absorbing the energy, they wobbled around as though intoxicated, collapsing onto the sofa or floor with silly grins plastered on their faces.
So, serving Yveltal comes with perks like this! Angie thought, shaking his head. I knew it. There's no way Honchkrow and the Murkrow would do something unrewarding.
He chuckled and gently moved the blissed-out Murkrow one by one onto the sofa, arranging them around Yveltal.
Yveltal gave Angie a sidelong glance before closing its eyes for a nap.
After ensuring that the Murkrow and Honchkrow were comfortably settled, Angie left the secret fortress with Pawmot.
Together, the pair wandered aimlessly around the Nebel Plateau.
Their first stop was the pasture for Gogoat and Skiddo.
During Angie's absence, the lush green grass had grown even more vigorously, expanding nearly half again in size.
After checking on the pasture, Angie and Pawmot made their way to the fishery.
Now, the fish, shrimp, and crabs in the fishery had all grown to a size fit for consumption and had even begun to reproduce on their own.
So, Angie first called Jeremy, asking him to come over.
Next, he directed Poliwhirl and Poliwrath to cast nets to catch fish, shrimp, and crabs.
Azumarill, Marill, and Azurill, seeing this, hurried over to help.
The Water-type Pokémon were incredibly efficient, and before long, Angie's buckets on the shore were filled to the brim with fish, shrimp, and crabs.
When Jeremy arrived on his aircraft, Angie instructed the Pokémon to load the buckets onto it and then asked Jeremy to deliver the fresh catch to the royal palace.
Since the fishery at home had a bumper harvest, it was only fitting for Kimia, Raleigh and Edward to have a taste!
Of course, Angie didn't let Jeremy make the trip for nothing—he gave him one bucket each of fish, shrimp, and crabs, along with two chickens and a portion of pork.
Jeremy left in high spirits.
After leaving the fishery, Angie went to inspect the orchard. Before he knew it, the sky had darkened.
He decided to head home to prepare dinner for the Pokémon. Just as he was about to leave, Munchlax and Inteleon returned from outside. The three of them entered the kitchen together.
Angie had promised Ceruledge and Armarouge that they would have a barbecue to celebrate their evolution. So, the three got to work preparing ingredients for tonight's feast.
When the Pokémon returned and learned that dinner was going to be a barbecue, they were overjoyed and cheered enthusiastically.
While Angie and the others were busy preparing ingredients and seasonings, Diancie, Magearna, and Passimian had already set up the barbecue grill and charcoal outside.
Xerneas watched Diancie and the others bustling about and curiously asked the Oinkologne next to it, "What is barbecue? Is it delicious?"
Barbecue? This question stumped the two Oinkologne. They didn't know how to explain it and could only repeatedly say.
"Oinkologne~ Oinkologne~"
Delicious, absolutely delicious!
Seeing this, Xerneas didn't press the two Oinkologne further. It narrowed its eyes and said, "Really? Tonight's dinner sounds exciting!"
"Oinkologne~"
"Oinkologne~"
The two Oinkologne nodded vigorously.
At that moment, Spritzee and Floette descended from the sky, one on each of Xerneas's antlers.
The aura emitted by Xerneas made them eager to get closer.
The two Oinkologne were displeased by Spritzee and Floette's intrusion and immediately stood up, yelling loudly.
"Oinkologne~"
"Oinkologne~"
However, Xerneas lowered its head and gently tapped the foreheads of the two Oinkologne with its chin. It said gently, "It's alright. Spritzee and Floette are just showing affection."
"Spritzee~"
"Floette~"
Spritzee and Floette nodded vigorously and then flew off Xerneas's antlers, each giving Xerneas a kiss on the cheek.
The two Oinkologne saw this and weren't angry anymore. They lay down on either side of Xerneas.
Seeing this, Spritzee and Floette returned to their spots on Xerneas's antlers.
At that moment, Xerneas suddenly asked, "Isn't Yveltal coming for dinner?"
"Spritzee~"
It usually doesn't come; Munchlax delivers food to it.
Spritzee answered.
"I see." Xerneas looked thoughtful. "It would be wonderful if it could join us for dinner."
"Scrafty~"
How about I go invite it?
Suddenly, Scrafty appeared out of nowhere and suggested.
Xerneas looked at Scrafty warmly and said, "I'll leave it to you, then!"
"Scrafty~"
Scrafty immediately grabbed its saggy pants and dashed off toward the secret base.
Before long, to everyone's surprise, Scrafty actually returned with Yveltal—and it was riding on Yveltal's back!
Yveltal descended majestically, surrounded by Murkrow and Honchkrow, creating a dramatic entrance.
After landing, the Murkrow and Honchkrow remained like a group of guards, standing tall and proud around Yveltal.
Scrafty quickly jumped off Yveltal's back and sprinted toward its friends, exclaiming excitedly and incoherently.
"Scrafty~ Scrafty~"
I… I just… just rode on Yveltal's back!
Pancham, Stunky, Buneary, Pachirisu, and Litleo surrounded the Scrafty, looking at it with admiration.
"Pancham~ Pancham~"
Scrafty, you're amazing!
Pancham's eyes sparkled, carrying a hint of envy.
"Buneary~ Buneary~"
Scrafty, you're so brave!
Buneary praised it generously.
"Litleo~ Litleo~"
You could even summon Yveltal; I admire you so much!
Litleo looked up at it with great reverence.
Litleo's words left Scrafty momentarily stunned. It recalled the situation when it went to summon Yveltal. Somehow… it felt like Yveltal didn't come out because of it.
When it arrived at the tavern door, it carefully peeked inside while clinging to the doorframe and saw Yveltal curled up and sleeping.
The Honchkrow and Murkrow were resting with their eyes closed, surrounding Yveltal.
It whispered softly.
"Scrafty~ Scrafty~"
Yveltal, dinner's almost ready. Would you like to come out and eat with everyone?
As soon as it finished speaking, the Honchkrow and Murkrow opened their eyes in unison.
The tavern wasn't lit at the time, and dusk was falling, so the interior was dimly lit.
When the Honchkrow and Murkrow opened their eyes simultaneously, their glowing eyes in the darkness gave Scrafty quite a scare.
"Scrafty~ Scrafty~"
What are you trying to scare me for!
Scrafty protested, looking displeased.
"Murkrow~ Murkrow~"
Don't disturb Yveltal's rest. Yveltal wouldn't lower itself to dine with you all!
One of the Murkrow warned Scrafty, its expression haughty as though it were Yveltal itself.
"Borrowing power from the strong" was the perfect description for this behavior.
Scrafty pouted and retorted.
"Scrafty~ Scrafty~"
It's a big deal! I came here because Xerneas asked me to!
Upon hearing Xerneas's name, Yveltal, which had been resting with closed eyes, suddenly opened them wide. It stretched its wings and soared into the air.
"Yveltal~"
Let's go. It's time for dinner.
Yveltal's calm yet slightly cool voice reached the ears of the Murkrow, Honchkrow, and Scrafty.
As it passed the door, Yveltal grabbed Scrafty by the back of its neck with its beak and placed it directly on its back.
The Honchkrow and Murkrow were stunned by this sight.
Yveltal had actually stepped out!
"Honchkrow~"
Let's follow them! Hurry up!"
"Murkrow~ Murkrow~"
Yveltal, wait for us!
The Honchkrow quickly led the Murkrow in pursuit.
So, why did Yveltal suddenly change its mind?
Unable to grasp the key to this, Scrafty shook its head and stopped overthinking it.
But… Yveltal didn't seem as terrifying as it looked! And it even let me ride on its back!
Scrafty glanced at Yveltal, admiration flickering in its gaze.
When Yveltal landed, it looked in the direction where Xerneas was.
At the same moment, Xerneas happened to glance over and nodded with a smile toward Yveltal.
Yveltal nodded back in response.
After this brief interaction, the two Pokémon went about their own business.
Xerneas was surrounded by numerous Pokémon chattering away.
Xerneas listened to them share interesting stories about the plateau, smiling warmly and occasionally joining the conversation.
In contrast, Yveltal's side was desolate, with no one around except Honchkrow and Murkrow.
Scrafty glanced at Xerneas, then at Yveltal, comparing the two sides.
After hesitating for a long time, Scrafty finally gritted its teeth and ran toward Yveltal.
It made sure to drag Pancham and Stunky along for support.
"Pancham~ Pancham~"
What are you doing?
Pancham shouted.
"Scrafty~ Scrafty~"
Don't ask. Just follow me.
Scrafty replied.
When they reached Yveltal's side, Pancham and Stunky shivered, hiding behind Scrafty. They cautiously poked their heads out to peek at Yveltal but immediately pulled them back when Yveltal glanced over.
"Honchkrow~"
Why are you here?
Honchkrow puffed out its chest and looked down at Scrafty, exuding an overbearing presence.
Scrafty summoned its courage and said.
"Scrafty~ Scrafty~"
So what? If you can stay by Yveltal's side, why can't we?
Honchkrow narrowed its sharp eyes at Scrafty.
Seeing this, Scrafty tried its best to puff out its chest, determined not to lose in terms of aura.
After a long standoff, the sharp aura around Honchkrow dissipated. It nodded and said.
"Honchkrow~"
Fine. The more followers Yveltal has, the better. You may stay.
Scrafty thought to itself: Hmph, we're not followers or anything like that!
