Chapter 182: Angie vs. Ceruledge and Armarouge
At this moment, Angie suddenly got excited and said to Ceruledge and Armarouge.
"Hey, you two just evolved. How about a battle with me to get used to your new forms?"
Huh? A battle? With Angie?
Angie crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Yeah? What? Think I'm not good enough? You two might not even be able to beat me!"
"Ceruledge~ Ceruledge~"
Oh, we can definitely win against Angie.
Ceruledge declared confidently.
Angie retorted, "Don't be too sure of yourselves."
With that, Angie walked out of the house with Ceruledge and Armarouge shoulder to shoulder.
Xerneas followed closely behind with the Oinkologne.
They arrived at the grassy area outside the wall. Angie stood in the middle of the field, while Ceruledge and Armarouge took positions to his upper left and upper right, ready for battle.
At that moment, a patrol group consisting of Drilbur, Lairon, Hippowdon, and Hippopotas passed by. Curious about what Angie was doing, they asked the Oinkologne.
The Oinkologne explained that Angie was going to have a duel with Ceruledge and Armarouge. The Pokémon on patrol immediately perked up with interest and stayed to watch.
They were initially curious about who Ceruledge and Armarouge were. After the Oinkologne's explanation, they realized it was the two Charcadet that had evolved!
Seeing the gathering crowd, Swablu, Fletchinder, and Spritzee, who had been playing in the sky, descended and perched on Lairon, Hippowdon, and Hippopotas, chirping and joining the spectators.
Soon after, the Altaria couple, the Talonflame and Staraptor couple, two Watchog, Oddish, Shroomish, and Paras all gathered around.
Even Magearna, who had been busy on the second floor, couldn't resist poking its head out of the window to see what was happening outside.
When it saw Angie preparing for battle, it dragged a chair over, sat by the window, and watched.
Angie pulled a pair of Aura Gloves out of his system backpack and said to Ceruledge and Armarouge, "Are you ready?"
Ceruledge nodded.
Armarouge looked at the gloves on Angie's hands with curiosity.
"Armarouge~"
What are those?
Angie waved his hand and said mysteriously, "Secret weapon!"
"Alright then, let the battle begin!"
As soon as Angie finished speaking, Armarouge launched the first attack. It extended its hands, conjuring balls of flame in its palms, which it hurled toward Angie.
Angie didn't even need to dodge. He swiftly swung his fists, and the Aura Gloves amplified his Aura energy, allowing him to easily shatter all the fireballs Armarouge had thrown.
"That level of attack isn't enough to faze me!" Angie said, shaking his hand.
The Pokémon watching on the sidelines erupted in cheers for Angie.
Seeing this, Ceruledge was engulfed in blazing flames. It suddenly became a blur, charging at Angie with searing speed.
It was using Flame Charge.
Before their evolution, Angie had explained to Ceruledge and Armarouge the strengths of their evolved forms.
Armarouge excelled in special attacks, while Ceruledge specialized in physical attacks.
And Flame Charge was a physical Fire-type move.
As Ceruledge rushed forward, Angie threw a punch that landed squarely on its chest.
Ceruledge felt an overwhelming force hit it, and in the next moment, it was sent flying backward, landing heavily on the ground.
Angie blew on his fist and said dramatically, "This level of attack still can't touch me!"
Ceruledge climbed to its feet, and a faint glow flashed across its body, accompanied by a cracking sound.
Angie recognized this as the activation of Ceruledge's ability.
The Ceruledge's ability is Weak Armor. When it suffers a physical attack, its defense decreases, but its speed increases significantly.
Hearing Angie's remark, Armarouge and Ceruledge exchanged glances and launched a simultaneous attack on Angie.
Armarouge used Clear Smog, a move originally intended to reset stat changes. This time, however, it was deployed to obscure Angie's vision.
Thick, rolling smoke enveloped Angie, making it impossible for him to see anything around him.
Meanwhile, Ceruledge leapt into the haze and began dashing swiftly within the smoke, attempting to close in on Angie.
Suddenly, the smoke swirled, and Ceruledge burst out, brandishing its long sword and slashing at Angie with Shadow Claw.
But Angie seemed prepared. Dodging the attack with agile movements, he countered with a punch that sent Ceruledge flying again.
Angie had mastery over Aura. Even though he couldn't see clearly within the smoke, he could sense Ceruledge's movements through its aura, making its trajectory completely predictable to him.
Of course, Angie's strike once again triggered Ceruledge's Weak Armor, further enhancing its speed.
Seeing Ceruledge being knocked away, Armarouge didn't hesitate. It extended both hands, preparing to ignite the smoke with a burst of flames.
However, before it could attack, Angie charged out of the smoke, swiftly closing the distance. Standing right beside Armarouge, he delivered a punch that sent it reeling in surprise.
"I can't just keep taking hits passively, can I?" Angie said with a smirk.
But no sooner had the words left his mouth than Ceruledge suddenly appeared behind him. With Weak Armor having activated twice, its speed had reached an incredible level.
However, Angie had been using Aura to track its every move. The moment Armarouge launched its attack, Angie sensed it.
Dodging Ceruledge's Shadow Claw with a sidestep, Angie avoided the strike.
Still, Ceruledge didn't give up. Using its extraordinary speed, it launched a flurry of Shadow Claw attacks against Angie.
Thanks to his rigorous training in controlling Aura, Angie had achieved a high degree of physical coordination. He skillfully avoided every strike from Ceruledge, angling his body in ways that were almost impossible.
Meanwhile, Armarouge wasn't idle. Ghostly blue flames formed around it, which it manipulated into a surrounding ring aimed at trapping Angie.
Will-O-Wisp!
If Angie touched it, he would be burned and enter a status condition.
"Well done!" Angie praised Armarouge loudly while continuing to dodge Ceruledge's attacks.
However, splitting his attention between avoiding Ceruledge and the encroaching Will-O-Wisp finally caused Angie to slip. Ceruledge seized the opportunity, delivering a sword strike that sent him flying.
Rolling several times on the ground, Angie quickly got up, rubbing his shoulder. "Ouch, that really hurt!"
Though he complained about the pain, Angie's strong physique meant he had sustained barely any damage from the Shadow Claw.
Sensing an opening, Armarouge immediately directed the Will-O-Wisp toward Angie.
Angie evaded with a flip and said, "Looks like I need to use my trump card."
He extended his right hand, where a bluish-white energy sphere rapidly formed in his palm. Then, with his other hand, he slapped the orb forcefully.
With a sharp snap, the energy sphere disappeared, releasing a shockwave that dissipated all the approaching Will-O-Wisp flames.
Seeing this, both Armarouge and Ceruledge were stunned.
What was that?
Angie chuckled. "Shocked, huh? That's a move I developed using Aura."
He suddenly vanished from his spot, and before Armarouge could react, Angie had already appeared before it, landing a punch squarely on its stomach.
"Armarouge~~!"
Armarouge let out a wail and was sent flying backward, its eyes shutting as it lost the ability to battle.
Just as Angie defeated Armarouge, Ceruledge flashed in front of him, raising its sword to strike.
Seeing that evasion was impossible, Angie channeled Aura into his arms, raising them to defend against the attack.
With a resounding bam, Angie was sent flying.
Ceruledge didn't let up. It flashed to Angie's side again, using its incredible speed to strike with another Shadow Claw.
Unable to react in time, Angie was forced to raise his arms to block once more, only to be sent flying again.
Thankfully, Angie's physique was robust enough to endure such attacks without being knocked out.
For the third time, Ceruledge appeared beside Angie, ready to repeat the assault. But this time, Angie didn't defend himself. Instead, he reached out with his hand clad in a psychic glove, catching Ceruledge's sword mid-swing.
Ceruledge attempted to retrieve its blade, but Angie's grip was unyielding. His strength was so overwhelming that the Pokémon couldn't budge the sword.
Seeing its attack foiled, Ceruledge raised its other sword to strike, but Angie caught that one too.
"Alright, it's time to end this battle!"
With that, Angie swung Ceruledge around and hurled it into the air with immense force.
Boom!
The ground shook as Ceruledge crashed into it, creating a crater. It lay motionless in the center.
Clearly, the one-versus-two battle had ended with Angie's decisive victory.
As soon as the fight concluded, Mew floated into the arena and happily waving its tiny arms. Blue droplets of water began to spray from its body, landing on Angie, Armarouge, and Ceruledge. Their injuries visibly healed at an astonishing rate.
Before long, Armarouge and Ceruledge slowly regained consciousness.
Mew had used its Life Dew skill to heal everyone in the area.
"Mew~ Mew~"
Mew chirped as it floated over to Angie, finally settling on his shoulder.
Angie turned his head and thanked it, "Thanks a lot, Mew."
"Mew~ Mew~"
Mew patted Angie's cheek, signaling that it was no trouble.
At that moment, Xerneas released a pink beam of light from its body. The energy enveloped Angie, Armarouge, and Ceruledge, fully healing their remaining wounds.
Xerneas had used Heal Pulse, a single-target ability with superior healing effects compared to Life Dew.
Angie, along with Armarouge and Ceruledge, walked over to Xerneas to express their gratitude.
Xerneas shook its head and replied, "No need to thank me. Since I'll be living on the Nebel Plateau, it's only right for me to help out. If anyone here gets hurt in the future, feel free to come to me for treatment."
Hearing this, Angie beamed and said, "In that case, I'll leave the healing of our Pokémon here on the plateau to you!"
A sudden thought struck Angie—should he set up a medical room at home and stock it with essential medicines? However, he realized that without the proper medical knowledge, it would be risky to use some of these treatments accurately.
Pokémon not only get injured but can also fall ill, and not every problem can be solved with healing moves.
He decided he'd consult Kimia about it later. He had no immediate way of recruiting a Pokémon knowledgeable in medical care to help establish a proper medical room.
Sometimes, Angie felt fortunate to have been born into royalty, with his nation still existing today.
Thanks to the royal family's status, certain resources and channels were readily accessible to him.
The loss in battle left Armarouge and Ceruledge feeling a bit dejected.
Angie patted their shoulders and, with a smug grin, said, "Come on now, don't feel down! You didn't lose because you're weak—it's because I'm just too strong!"
Hearing Angie's words, everyone burst into laughter, with Mew laughing the hardest, covering its mouth with its tiny hands.
Seeing everyone laughing so heartily, Angie couldn't help but say, "What are you laughing at? I'm serious! Armarouge and Ceruledge were both captured by me personally when they were just little Charcadet. If you don't believe me, ask them!"
It was true. Armarouge and Ceruledge nodded in agreement.
Angie's playful interruption lightened the mood significantly, cheering up Armarouge and Ceruledge.
Noticing their improved spirits, Angie smiled subtly. He patted their shoulders again and encouraged them, "Keep it up!"
Armarouge and Ceruledge squinted their eyes and nodded in determination.
After watching the battle and some lighthearted teasing, the Pokémon gradually dispersed. The Ceruledge and Armarouge ran off to seek training advice from Metagross, eager to grow stronger.
If they couldn't even defeat Angie, how could they talk about protecting Angie and the Nebel Highlands in the future?
At this moment, only Mew and Xerneas remained by Angie's side.
"By the way, Xerneas, let me take you to choose a place to stay!" Angie said.
Xerneas was about to nod but then seemed to think of something and asked, "Where does Yveltal live? Can I stay with it?"
"Huh?" Angie looked surprised. "You want to live with Yveltal?"
Xerneas nodded. "It's an old friend of mine. We get along well, so it'd be nice to keep each other company."
Xerneas getting along with Yveltal was a surprising revelation for Angie. However, since Xerneas had said so, he nodded and replied, "Alright then, follow me."
Angie led Xerneas toward the secret base, with Mew trailing behind them.
"Mew~ Mew~"
Are you really going to live with that scary guy?
Floating beside Xerneas, Mew asked as they walked.
Xerneas replied, "Scary guy? Are you talking about Yveltal?"
"Mew~ Mew~"
Yes, yes, it's definitely it!
Xerneas chuckled softly. "Maybe it's not as scary as you think."
"Mew~ Mew~"
But I find it scary just looking at it.
Angie teased Mew, "Is it because Yveltal is a Dark-type Pokémon, while you're a Psychic-type? Your Psychic moves won't work on it, so you're particularly afraid of it?"
"Mew~"
That's not true!
With arms akimbo, Mew glared at Angie, her voice especially loud in rebuttal.
"Mew~ Mew~"
If I got serious, I could definitely beat it!
"Alright, alright, if you say so," Angie said with a shrug.
Feeling like she wasn't being taken seriously, Mew flew to Angie's head, grabbed a tuft of his hair, and shouted:
"Mew~ Mew~"
Do you not believe me? Do you?
Angie didn't feel any pain. Smiling, he replied, "I believe you! Look at my face!"
Mew leaned forward to look at Angie's face, only to see him grinning widely at her. Instantly, she realized she'd been teased again. Frustrated, she furiously tugged at Angie's hair, turning it into a messy bird's nest in no time.
Watching Angie and Mew bicker and play, Xerneas couldn't help but laugh softly.
Amid the banter, they arrived at the secret base.
Inside the bar, Angie pointed to Yveltal's bedding and said, "Look, Yveltal sleeps here."
Xerneas glanced around the place, nodded in satisfaction, and said, "Not bad, this place looks comfortable."
Having grown accustomed to braving the elements—be it caves, forests, grasslands, or deserts—Xerneas found the accommodations here exceptionally luxurious in comparison.
Angie explained, "Yveltal is just too large. Apart from this place, nowhere else really suits it."
Although Xerneas wasn't small, standing at a towering 3 meters tall, it was still noticeably smaller than Yveltal.
"I'll stay here too," Xerneas said, stepping into the bar. After wandering around for a bit, it selected a large sofa and said, "Can I sleep here from now on?"
The sofas in the bar were designed specifically for large Pokémon, with some being even bigger than regular beds. Whether it was Xerneas or Yveltal, they wouldn't feel cramped on them.
Angie nodded. "Sure. I'll bring you some bedding later."
Though the Nebel Highlands were temperate year-round, the nights could still get chilly without a blanket.
"Thanks," Xerneas said.
Angie added, "Yveltal isn't here right now; otherwise, you two could catch up."
At this moment, Mew suddenly said.
"Mew~ Mew~"
It's sleeping on that big tree over there!
In the center of the highlands, on the largest tree, Yveltal was perched on a thick branch, resting with its eyes closed. A gentle breeze brushed against its face, making it feel utterly serene.
Even the simplest things in life seemed novel to Yveltal.
Beside it perched a Honchkrow and a line of Murkrow, all mimicking Yveltal's posture. Occasionally, Yveltal would unconsciously release a hint of dark energy, which made the Honchkrow and Murkrow feel particularly comfortable.
Hearing Mew mention Yveltal's location, Angie turned to Xerneas and said, "Let's go and find it!"
"Alright, let's go see it," Xerneas agreed.
Soon, Angie, Mew, and Xerneas arrived under the large tree.
Xerneas looked up, and as if sensing its presence, Yveltal opened its eyes and looked down.
It was the first time the two Legendary Pokémon had met in such a manner.
