Stroking Sylveon's soft fur, Kuroda Masae attempted once more to hold the elegant Pokémon in her arms.

Perhaps sensing Masae's intentions, Sylveon responded with a graceful leap, landing just out of reach. Turning away with an air of indifference, it left Masae with only its cold, ribbon-like feelers fluttering behind.

Unbeknownst to Sylveon, its distant behavior only deepened Masae's fascination.

"We're almost out of the forest," Tyson remarked as he observed Masae's futile efforts. "Once we're clear, don't resist next time. Kadabra will teleport us directly near Saffron City."

"Even if someone plans to act against us, they'll hesitate once we're near the police force stationed there."

Masae sighed, recognizing the truth in Tyson's words. She glanced at Sylveon again, knowing her chances of forming a closer bond with the Fairy-type were slim.

Tyson, however, had his own concerns about Sylveon. He'd discussed the Pokémon with Shadow, his superior, before their journey.

As expected, Sylveon's rarity had already drawn the attention of those in power. While the Fairy-type Pokémon was no longer an enigma to the upper echelons, it remained extraordinarily rare due to the unique conditions required for its evolution.

Shadow had assured Tyson that he needn't worry too much. Those at the top, despite recognizing Sylveon's value, were unlikely to act against a trainer of Tyson's stature—especially one directly affiliated with the Pokémon League.

"Yes, I understand," Masae responded, her tone reflecting newfound seriousness.

Nodding, Tyson released Kadabra from its Poké Ball, and Sylveon instinctively adopted a watchful stance.

"Teleport," Tyson commanded.

Kadabra's eyes glowed as it transported the group through the forest. Thanks to its mastery of teleportation, they moved rapidly, with barely a pause between jumps. By the time Kadabra began to tire, the grand skyline of Saffron City appeared on the horizon.

"You've done well, Kadabra. Take a rest." Tyson recalled the weary Pokémon, then handed Masae a mask. "Put this on. Let's keep moving."

Pulling the mask over her face, Masae followed Tyson toward the city.

Saffron City stood as the largest and most vibrant hub in the Kanto region—a symbol of the League's influence. Its bustling streets were filled with trainers, merchants, and tourists, all moving beneath the towering buildings that defined the city's skyline.

Tyson knew that launching an attack near Saffron would be unthinkable for most. The city's prominence as a cultural and economic beacon meant that any disruption here would draw the wrath of the League. Only an organization as bold as Team Rocket might dare to challenge that authority.

Even so, Tyson remained cautious, quickening his pace to avoid unnecessary risks.

Once they passed through the city gates, he exhaled in relief. "We're safe now," he assured Masae.

The long trek had left Masae too breathless to respond. She simply nodded.

"My job here is done," Tyson said. "With the Kuroda family's influence, you'll have no trouble finding them. The rest is up to you."

Before Masae could reply, Tyson turned and disappeared into the crowd without a backward glance.

Raising her hand as if to stop him, Masae hesitated. Her body, fatigued from the journey, refused to cooperate. She could only watch as Tyson's figure vanished among the throng of people.

Left alone, Masae's thoughts drifted back to their first meeting. At the time, she had been certain her life was over, only to discover that Tyson's supposed indifference masked a subtle kindness.

"It's a pity," she muttered. "I didn't even get to thank him properly."

After regaining her composure, Masae resolved to locate the Kuroda family. She had no interest in their wealth or power. Her only desire was to confront the one who had abandoned her mother and, if possible, fulfill her mother's final wish.

Just as she began her search, a man in black passed by. Their eyes met briefly, and Masae suddenly felt her world spinning. Within moments, she lost consciousness.

To those nearby, it appeared as though she had willingly followed the man into the shadows.

Tyson's Perspective

Outside the Pokémon Center, Tyson sighed. "Looks like I'll need to find a hotel."

Saffron 's reputation as a trainer hotspot left the Pokémon Center's accommodations fully booked. Refusing to settle for a crowded room, Tyson opted for a hotel instead.

Before their arrival, he had contacted Shadow, confirming Masae's safe handoff would free him of further responsibility. Now, with Masae left to her own devices, he could focus on his next objective.

After securing a room, Tyson proceeded to the Saffron Gym to register for a badge challenge.

As one of the most prestigious Gyms in Kanto, led by the psychic prodigy Sabrina, Saffron attracted countless challengers. Sabrina, known for her unparalleled mastery of Psychic-types, was rumored to be a high-level psychic herself—a rare ability in the Pokémon world.

Psychics, individuals capable of harnessing supernatural powers, were classified into four tiers: novice, intermediate, advanced, and elite. Few ever reached the elite level, but those who did were said to rival even Legendary Pokémon in strength.

Sabrina's rising fame as an advanced-level psychic made her a major attraction. Trainers came not only to earn her badge but also to witness the mysterious powers of a psychic in battle.

Given the overwhelming demand, Tyson's battle was scheduled five days out. Content to wait, he returned to his hotel, eager to refine his strategy and prepare for the challenge ahead.
