Chapter 67: Rare items Are No Longer Rare

[Alpha Wolf (Pseudo-Elite Boss)]

Level: 7

Details: The Alpha Wolf is the undisputed leader of its pack, standing a full head taller than its kin. Its pitch-black coat is scarred from countless battles. Every step it takes sends ripples of fear through lesser creatures.

The small battlefield erupted into chaos as Arthur's summons executed their roles without wasting time.

Arthur stood back, watching with an amused expression on his face, his dagger spinning lazily in his hand.

"Sylvaris, take the three over there! Let's not make this a long story," Arthur commanded, pointing at the circling wolves. The serpent hissed in acknowledgement and surged forward.

Sylvaris met the first wolf head-on. The beast snarled and leapt at the serpent, but Sylvaris reared back, coiling like a spring before snapping forward.

Its fangs found the wolf's throat, and with a quick shake, the wolf was down.

As it tried to get back up, Sylvaris didn't waste time and his fangs once again found the wolf's throat.

"That's one down," Arthur muttered, his eyes gleaming. "Sylvaris, Keep going."

The serpent turned its attention to the remaining two wolves. They circled cautiously, their hackles raised, but Sylvaris was faster.

Arthur caught the shift in its posture and recognized the familiar coil of tension building in its body.

"Sylvaris," Arthur called, his voice sharp with authority, "use Land Smash! Clear them out!"

The serpent hissed back, its powerful tail lifting into the air as it began to coil tighter and tighter. The ground beneath Sylvaris trembled slightly, the vibrations spreading outward and catching the attention of every creature in the clearing including the Alpha Wolf that was fighting Lupin.

Sensing the Alpha Wolf was not focused on their fight, Lupin's eyes shone with intelligence and a hint of anger.

He leapt just in time and landed a powerful claw smash that sent the Alpha Wolf a few meters back.

The wolves, initially emboldened by their numbers, hesitated. Their instinct told them something big was coming.

"What's wrong, boys?" Arthur taunted, a smirk playing on his lips. "You're not scared, are you?"

Sylvaris struck.

With a sudden, deafening crack, the tail slammed into the ground with explosive force. The shockwave from the impact tore through the clearing, sending up a cloud of dirt and debris that obscured the battlefield for a split second.

The effect was immediate and devastating.

The wolves closest to the impact were thrown back violently, their bodies tumbling through the air before crashing into trees or the ground.

The sound of cracking bones and pained yelps filled the air as Sylvaris unwound from its coiled position. The serpent raised its head, hissing triumphantly as the dust settled, revealing the aftermath of its skill.

Three wolves lay motionless on the ground, their bodies broken from the sheer force of the attack. Another wolf, barely standing, staggered away with a limp, its eyes wide with fear but Sylvaris did not give it the chance to think of running.

Sylvaris immediately snapped forward, giving the wolf a final blow and ending its miserable life within a single breath.

Arthur's grin widened as the notifications popped up.

"That's what I'm talking about!" Arthur exclaimed, punching the air. "Sylvaris, you absolute beast! Remind me to get you a bonus snack after this. In fact, you can eat them if you want."

Sylvaris turned his massive head toward Arthur, his silver eyes gleaming with pride as if acknowledging the praise. Its tail swayed slightly, the power still radiating from its form like heat waves.

Arthur approached the glowing loot hovering above the fallen wolves. "What do we have here?" he muttered, rubbing his hands together as he inspected the items.

[Iron Sword (Rare) has been dropped]

[Mana Earring (Rare) has been dropped]

[Iron Shield (Rare) has been dropped]

Arthur's grin turned downright wicked. "Three rare items in one go? Neko, I love you. Your luck talent is downright terrifying. Now that I look at it, I might be glad to have summoned you. Who knows what I could have summoned instead, I definitely wouldn't be making so much money without that talent of yours."

"Maybe I should remove the sanction on her, and summon her to go around and explore this world with me" He muttered.

He quickly scooped up the loot, placing the Mana Earring on his ears while mentally tallying the profit the other items would bring at auction. "This is going to fund a whole lot of mayhem. Heh, looks like it's time to start planning the next auction."

"Not bad, Sylvaris. Not bad at all," Arthur muttered, his voice carrying a tone of approval. He reached out briefly, his fingers brushing the serpent's head that approached him.

Sylvaris seized the moment, his body slithering upward, attempting to coil around Arthur's torso. The movement was fluid and quick, but Arthur stiffened immediately.

"Wait—don't," he said, sidestepping out of the coils with a sharp motion. "Not now. You can't restrict my movement. I need to figure out what's happening with your brothers."

Sylvaris froze mid-motion, his body retreating with a graceful ripple. A soft hiss escaped his lips, not quite menacing but slightly sad. His luminous eyes flickered, their glow betraying a flash of something akin to wounded pride.

Arthur glanced back at him, his expression unreadable for a moment before he exhaled softly. "Don't be upset, I will let you do it another time."

The serpent inclined his head slightly as if conceding, before lowering himself to the forest floor with a satisfied hiss.

Arthur's focus shifted to the rest of the skirmish. "All right, everyone, back to work! The wolves aren't going to kill themselves… though honestly, they might try if Sylvaris goes for another Land Smash."

Borak and Hank who were invigorated by Sylvaris's devastating display, snorted and screeched in response, diving back into the battle with ferocity.
